The commentators were having a discussion about players that have played for lesser known countries. That got me thinking about the best Kent XI made up of players from 11 different countries. This is what I came up with but I'm sure there are others/better ones that I've forgotten up:

I looked pre-match to see what a par score in a 50 over one day match would be and there was little data to go on...most scores were under 300 and from what I could see this is the first time Sussex have use it in a County one dayer.
AB de Villiers holds the ground record scoring 143 in an England v SA U19 match.
This looks a competitive total.

A good side, but Aravinda and Rahul Dravid are not really natural openers...the trouble is I'm trying to think of any non-English players who've opened for Kent and who have also played internationally. I do realise that I'm probably sounding like Ekansh Singh's agent but I am so pleased that he is starting to show a bit of what I believe he is capable of doing.
His last five innings have been 49 (90) & 27 (24) in the CC against Northants, 33 (68) again in the CC against Leicestershire, 42 (46) against Norfolk and 48 (61) today against Sussex. He has always had a bit about him of leaving people wanting more when seemingly set but, given that he is only just 19, that those innings have meant that he has been involved in some very good partnerships and that there are one or two of our established batters that would be grateful to average virtually 40 in their last five innings.
I do know that Kent are trying to turn him into a batting all rounder with his medium pace but I think that part of his game has a good bit of a way to go before he becomes a genuine threat with the ball. His next job is to start to convert those 40s into big 50s and even 100s. This competition is designed for exactly players of his ilk.2 -

I was close but balance of the side and longevity at the Club were the reasons. Murali played just the five games and Jones (5), Nabi (6) and Stewart (7) wouldn't be the best and with Underwood coming in at 8 would give us a bit of a tail.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:

I'm not sure he did and you would have to then get rid of one of the best fast bowlers in recent international cricket in Rabada.FSLN1 said:

Looking ahead to next year though, it would be nice if we could get in an overseas batter we can rely on, it’s been a long time since we’ve taken that route as an overseas and the batting line up desperately needs it. Dudgeon has taken one slot for the year but a batter has to be looked at.On a separate note, I am quite close with dbd and speak to him often, said his injury isn’t looking great and is touch and go to be back before the end of the season, will be a big miss in the t202

As an outsider it's always confused me why Kent seem to go for 2 seamers as overseas the last couple of years as opposed to going and finding a lynchpin batsman that can contribute in all formats. Worked brilliantly for a very young Sussex side to get Pujara a couple of years back. Honestly it’s baffling, think the feeling within the club is our batting is the stronger between the two, so they pull all the resources towards the bowling. Can’t think off the top of my head who the last out and out batsman we got as an overseas was but that needs to changeMarcusH26 said:

If you are going down that route you wouldn't have Nabi batting at seven unless you want a long tail. He averaged 5.5 at Test level...
I'd play Fred Klaassen (Netherlands) at 11and shift Matt Henry to 10. Martin van Jaarsveld will have to open with Rahul Dravid, everyone else moves down a spot. The batting line up looks much stronger.

If Nabi not being a Test player the reason for not playing him then Klaassen doesn't get in because he can't get a red ball contract. You could swap Stewart for Nabi in the order given how many FC tons he has hit.FSLN1 said:Addick Addict said:
