It's called a counter arguement. None of what I stated isn't true. Not saying those players will disappear off the face of the earth but no one can say 100% that they wont be below the Championship when their contracts are up. 

I’ll give you some backup on this golfie. Although your argument is I think on the extreme side I do see where you are coming from. The main thrust of our recruitment has been to pick off the better league one players which I think you’ll agree was the way to go. We’ve supplemented that with some older experienced Championship players who in my humble opinion with the exception of Kaminski arnt names that would blow anyone’s socks off. Sound but probably not any better than those found in any Championship squad we’ll face. We need both sides of that equation to work and there’s probably more risk of that blowing up with the “exciting “ signings from league one, than the steady Eddie older payers. It’s absolutely terrific that for the first time in years we’ve actually gone and spent some decent money and we should enjoy it but I think a lot of people are getting carried away. This squad has if all works out given us a fighting chance of survival. For me that’s about it. Only for example but there’s as much chance of us lauding Fullah at the seasons end as it is Kelman or Apter. We’ve gambled and need to hope it works out. 

Agree with this. My biggest question mark however is over our homegrown players. I am not sure that any of them have shown enough last season to think they can make it in the Champ, as first teamers I mean. I fact, NJ has brought in more experienced or better performing players in every position that they were in last season. The ones from  League one,  Kelman, Apter and Olaofe, made a bigger impact over the season than TC or Leaburn. Knibbs more than Anderson.
I do hope that some at least keep progressing, although a full season on loan in a top league one side may suit most of them best.
The one who may make more of an impact than any is Fullah, because he has an x factor others do not 

Campbell was about the only creator we had last season and teams doubled up on him to try and contain him. And if that was not working they tried to kick him into submission.

Twattish comment, Golfies comments could well turn out to be true. 

As he says he hopes not but going on our past record with players it could easily happen.

I'm not even saying that.

We've signed some players over the seasons that have done well & then gone on to better things. We've also signed players that have bombed & as @RedRyan remarked they are now playing in lower divisions. 

So, on balance, there is no knowing that some of the players that are in this seasons squad wont be plying their trade lower down the pyramid in a few years time.

Fuck me...its not hard to believe that surely. I'm not trying to be negative. This has been one of our best transfer windows that I can recall & we've still got 4 weeks of it to go.

Is it possible to have a medical and still travel to Southend to play 16 minutes in the match? Possibly, I've no idea how intensive or long a medical is these days. Does seem weird for a trialist to play a match and have medical on the same day. Surely you'd book it for another day.

Your last sentence would be true whoever we signed, are you saying there was alternative strategy that wouldn’t have been a gamble, or less of a gamble?

100% what you’ve just said. What I’m trying to say is suppose is that all of our “exciting” signings were good in league one. Wright-Phillips was excellent in league one but couldn’t make the step up to offer what we needed in The Championship. That goes for TC, Anderson, Coventry, Edward’s and Ramsay. Even Jones. We don’t have a tried Championship squad. I’m hopeful because I trust NJ and PC but I’d be very surprised if we’re not in a season long relegation battle. This group would be an awesome league one squad but very average where we currently are.

If we are very average surely we would finish slap bang in the middle of the table rather than in a season long relegation battle…?

If what we have done is not comfortable to stay up I worry for every single L1 club that gets promoted from now on. Don’t expect it to be a cakewalk but this team on paper and manager looks far too good to be relegated

Surely a very average league position from a very average squad would be around 12th which we all would be delighted with.

But the thing is we don't know that. Putting together a squad that's greater than the sum of its parts, using the momentum of promotion you just don't know who will step up and who won't. Who honestly would have had a squad featuring the likes of Burke, Berry, Bell, Tom Lockyer, Dan Potts, Allan Campbell and Alfie Doughty getting promoted? Some of their players were signed when they were in L1 or L2 but they were the right players for the style of play and they were Premier League footballers by the next season. Kaminski was signed specifically to be a Premier League keeper for Luton. The reality is that football is weird and you just don't know who will surprise you; BWP wasn't great in the Championship but then Yann, Stephens and Hamer went on to play in the Premier League, and there were plenty on here in 11/12 who weren't sold on Hamer and Stephens at all. We don't know if this is an average team in the Championship, a rubbish one or something more. The fun will be in finding out, but I'm confident in the very least we've brought in the kind of players the manager wants for some fairly hefty fees and that's something to feel very positive about
