I dont recall too many protests over the last few years. Any plastic pigs or taxis thrown onto the pitch? Have any fans gone over to where Chansari lives & disrupt his evening out ? Any mock funerals ?
I may have missed them being down south & not being reported locally.
I thought this as well. Spoke to an Owls fan mate of mine and asked him what action fans are taking, the extent of protests etc. “No-one’s buying the new replica kit”, was the reply.
Because they're following our lead and trying to hit the owner in the pocket. Plenty been boycotting games too, according to my Wednesday supporting mate. If their protests aren't getting the publicity ours did, maybe they don't have a CAST equivalent and aren't as well organized. Doesn't mean they don't object to Chansiri's stewardship and that's certainly the message he's got if you read his views on them.
For that to work it has to really make Chansiri feel it in the pocket. Our problem was RD’s pockets were too deep to make a dent in them.
i always felt the most impactful action taken against RD were the protests in Belgium for him to experience first hand and also local media coverage which no doubt embarrassed him.
Sheffield Wednesday did cheat and that’s Chinsiris fault. They didn’t get a timely punishment. That’s the fault of The EFL. What’s got to change is that football needs to eradicate these unscrupulous owners willing to cheat and run clubs like playthings at the expense of anything and everyone else. Very sadly it might take the demise of a great and famous football club like Sheffield Wednesday to make the rest of English football sit up and do something. Again sadly I doubt it will make one iota of difference. Football is basically a disgusting sport these days. Greed and more greed have ruined it.
And we, the fans, are the ones that get punished. Normally at the expense of lining pockets.
As much as I despise Sheffield Wednesday and with good reasons. I appreciate how important clubs are to communities, especially absolute slums like Hillsborough. I'd rather spend a week in Gaza than a Monday morning in that hovel.

He'll have the last laugh.
He'll pop his clogs before too long, hopefully, so it may be a brief laugh.

I actually wrote an e mail to The EFL this morning saying I thought that it was a disgrace that they hadn’t issued a statement on the situation so that the Sheffield Wednesday fans had an official understanding of where things were. I received the reply (below about an hour ago)
Word salad saying nothing.
The club is not paying staff, HMRC or clubs they owe transfer fees to. Surely that is worth more than a transfer embargo. When a new owner comes in they need to show that have adequate funds & source of those funds. If Chansari cant do that then they need to act. Whether that is a points deduction, relegation, being thrown out the League I dont know. But simply saying "nothing we can do" is a crock of shit
So you want them to just start making up rules?
No......but they could tweak them to be in line with what they do for a new owner. Sustainability of funds. At the start of every season each club must show that they have the resources to get through the season. I'm sure something like this is in place anyway. I'm sure @bobmunro can confirm.
And if the rules aren't in place then put them there. It might be too late for SW but it will stop another club going down this route.....or we will be saying the same next season when Leicester, Wrexham or some other club gets into trouble.
How many club owners do you think will vote to further restrict what they can spend and how they run their clubs. Because that is the only way to change the rules.
Bannan seems to me to be a credit to footballers. The ship is sinking but he has chosen to stay on board and fight for the club.
Bet he hasn’t stayed on board at 7k pw though. And I bet he isn’t one of those who hasn’t been getting his wages each month.
He publicly said he wanted their staff to get their wages before he got his. When you're on 25k a week you can probably afford to defer your money a bit compared to a lot of staff who probably live paycheck to paycheck.

There’s now an independent regulator for a start. First thing I’d do if I were in charge is require owners to deposit a sum of money at the start of each season that guarantees they can fund the financial commitments and ensure they can start and complete the season. Failure to be able to do so means relegation. Tighten the rules on sponsorship to eliminate what Chansiri did and Deby tried. I’ve only just started.

A shocking thing to wish that upon him. Oh yes, of course, he has family who the club can be passed down to.

But that’s part of my point. Is his new contract at 25k pw or at the new restricted 7k pw? I think I know the answer. At the latter you can be magnanimous because he will get paid eventually.
Back in the’80s we nearly lost everything and there were more than just rumours that our would merge with another. Maybe the time is approaching that it becomes reality for a couple of clubs. If the two Sheffield clubs merged they could be massive. Both clubs could claim to be the original. They both share Sheffield in their names, They both play in stripes. One rents a ground, big saving there. One has better players and was knocking on the promotion door last season, instant improvement.
You dont come to sheffield much do you mate? Do you know the level of hatred we actually have for each other?
I know exactly how football fans feel about each other and close rivalries. I was just having a little bit of fun on a Charlton site some time in the future of the north.
On BBC sounds (radio 5 live Friday / Sat, 01/08/ 25 - 1.05 in) Adrian Chiles with Price of Football / club Trust contributions on what’s current situation at Sheff. Wednesday & Morecambe. .
PWR whole thread - apologies if someone put the link or mentioned it already. Its on BBC sounds. Its a pretty good explanation & exploration of latest on whats going on.
I actually cant see us starting the season after what ive been told today. This is our lowest ever point in our history .
Can you hint at what you’ve been told ?
Leicester wont be happening at the moment even though Sky cams will be there . Things changing here every hour !
Meanwhile the dictator is away with his family having a wonderful holiday posting nice snapshots online whilst some of the debt recovery people are launching action against staff . You couldnt make it up.
Were you calling him a dictator when his fake taxi company was getting you into the playoffs?
I stopped going a long time ago when i had an exchange with him and thats all im prepared to say. Not sure why you are even having a dig at me for this, us fans dont have no control over him do we and i personally know how thst deal went down ..dont even gonthere mate because with all respect you really dont know the ins and outs of that deal.
In’s and outs of the deal!!! A fake company was set up to sponsor the shirts. What is there for me to know? Please educate me.
Sheffield Wednesday have been cheating for years, getting away with it with the EFl bottling punishment which sent us down.
The average Wednesday fan didn’t give a flying f**k when the team was benefiting from this cheating.
no sympathy from me now.
We were relegated with the points deduction, its the EFL thst controls it not us. The fans have always questioned Chansiri's decisions not embraced them! You might get the odd comments online winding fans of other clubs up but moat of us were always concerned.

I don't fully understand this sentiment when firstly the amount of Wednesday fans that have been concerned about this sort of thing and have stopped going and spending money over the years is huge and secondly we literally WERE punished by the EFL. We had points deducted which caused a relegation, we've been under embargo's repeatedly on and off for years. To me it highlights the unacceptable running of the club for years. Not many fans were celebrating that I can assure you, no matter how it looks.
Did you get punished the year of the cheating or did the EFL drag it out as long as possible?
You stayed up by cheating that year and we played by the book and went down.
You’ve got an owner who broke the rules to try and reach the riches of the premier league but it failed and you are now screwed. If your cheating worked and you got promoted to the premier league and your owner used the premier league riches to keep you there, I doubt a single Wednesday fan would have a bad word to say about the owner or care about the fake companies etc.
But if this is Charlton do you do a protest if Charlton get promoted ? Fans are fikle pal. Having said that you got relegated because you also finished in the bottom 3 . We were done the season after.ShootersHillGuru said:

I think any of the people / consortia that were supposedly interested still are. It’s just all about timing now. Something has to give at some point and it’ll probably be too late to save Sheffield Wednesday from at least relegation and a few years in the wilderness. It’s looking like to me that Chansiri has just enough money or at least is willing to spend just enough money to keep the club alive and functioning while he tries to sell for a ludicrous amount. That’s will change as the money drains away. My understanding is that Hillsborough is not owned by the football club but by a company at least part owned by Chansiri. Even after he relinquishes control of the football club I can see him hanging onto the stadium and trying to continue to suck what I understand to be £2.5 million a year in rent. That’s could be a big stumbling block to any sale negotiation. Unless a miracle happens over the next few days I think Wednesday are in for a very rough few years but they’ll come out the other end at some point.
@operationpig, I am assuming Chansiri is selling Hillsborough?
The guy is a nasty piece of work.
PS, were there any problems with the supporters when you had the wonderful Katrien Meire with you?
Obviously @operationpig will know more but quite why Chansiri would want to sell Hillsborough is unclear to me. I think the company that owns Hillsborough is owed at least some back rent and charges an awful lot of money, reported to be £2.5 million a year for Wednesday to play there. He’s got the club by the short and curlies and judging by his valuation of the football club he’s unlikely to sell Hillsborough for a reasonable price when he can get £2.5 million a year income. I see that as being one of the biggest hurdles any buyer of the football club has to navigate. This will become even more of an issue if the club is relegated and income drops although I suppose there could be relegation clause reducing the rent ? Guessing here but I would also imagine that the football club are saddled with stadium upkeep costs which are as we know are significant with The North Stand not safe to use. Chansiri obviously negotiated very lucrative terms for his Hillsborough owning Sheffield 3 company.

Bloke clearly loves the club and at his age probably couldn't be arsed to move elsewhere for 1-2 years.
He has publicly said that he wants non playing staff to be paid before he takes a penny.
He obviously loves the club and I reckon he would take £7k a week in this situation and at this point in his career.
he could easily have ran to Wrexham for £20k plus but has decided to stay and fight. Fair play
A shocking thing to wish that upon him. Oh yes, of course, he has family who the club can be passed down to.
