Fantastic donation from the son of late Des Jones, who made the made on the day.

Fans outside the Watermans Arms, an array of what would now be very valuable shirts and even some trains.

    My mates were there on 4 mins, I was there but just out of shot.
    We didn't hang around General Gordon Square before.
    We had a few pints in the DG and tagged on towards the back as it went past  :)

    Surprised people could walk that far , I was in the Swan from early on and was completely battered by kick off 
    sobered up a bit during Game back to the Swan then on to bridewells bosh !

    Where was the Watermans arms? All these pubs lost around Charlton is so bad

    Or the pub was located on the corner of Woolwich Rd/ Anchor & Hope Lane. but today would be in the middle of the dual carriageway on Woolwich Rd.

    Great video - Well done to Des Jones for filming it and his son for getting it to the museum. 

    Is that a couple of old players coming out of the station at around the 6:45 point? Looks like Eddie Marsh on the left but can’t pick out the guy on the right. I could be completely wrong though…..

    You were at the game and a Charlton fan but don’t know The Waterman’s Arms.

    You must have approach Charlton from Charlton Park then. 

    Bottom of Charlton Church Lane and Woolwich Road.  Was a picture of Peter Sutcliffe on wall of pub.

    Away coaches always parked just up the road towards The Anchor and Hope pub.

    That’s a brilliant video. I love the way he tried to capture images not just of the march, which was a one-off, but all the mundane sights you see when going to a match at the Valley, but which were far from mundane on the day, we thought we’d never see them again. And all this was long before mobile phones ( for ordinary folk, even if Ben Tegg had access to two😂) , let alone video-capable smart phones

    Not being able to get a ticket for this match still pisses me off now.
    60 years supporting Charlton the length and breadth of England and visiting around 90 different grounds but I couldn't get a ticket for this game. 
    I promised myself I would never miss another home match that I wanted to attend. 
    So I've been a season ticket holder ever since. 
    Great video by the way.

    Sure I was on a coach once and we overtook him on the motorway, he was driving one of those big trike motorbikes.
