You find 2 seats together and if the price is the same as your normal seat then you just pay for the one ticket, yours just switches and your normal seat is available for that one match.

You can call the ticket office and get your season ticket moved for a game so you can get 2 together with your mate. They then block your physical card so you cant use it and send you a new ticket via email at no cost (unless you are upgrading ie covered end lower to West upper), then you just pay for your mate's one. In theory it sounds very simple, but in practise its always a nightmare, so allow plenty of time if you want to do this. As in don't attempt it the day before a game! Ive done this a few times and they've sent me random tickets in different stands. Allocated tickets to linked people on my account etc! You might be better just getting your mate a ticket near you and seeing if people are willing to shuffle up a seat if there are empty seats. Although that might not be as easy next season with bigger crowds.

Otherwise, the East and West towards the away end usually has loads of seats available.
