I can’t see us starting with all 3 - that leaves us with only 2 CMs, or means a back 4. NJ rarely picks teams as open as that.

This strengthening is also about having a stronger bench, I can’t see us finding a way to fit every new signing into the starting 11.

Agree, 9 Subs remember. I think we have to see it as a 20 man match day group, with lots of scope to change things as and when the situation demands. We certainly won't be starting games with 3 strikers, although we may be ending with them if we are chasing the game..

Addicks never really had an American make a good impression. Granted not been that many (Spector, etc) but as an American myself, I really do hope Kelman can do well here and I think under NJ, he will.

Charlie Kelman is a player I’ve always kept an eye on since he made his debut for Southend. I’m sure he scored a worldie from the half way line at 16/17 for Southend?? Either way, he’s always caused us problems whenever we’ve come up against him and I’m buzzing he’s now going to be playing for us.

Not sure but could be a combination of the same thing (less minutes than the appearances might suggest) and just being young/ undeveloped. recent evidence hopefully of most relevance, and here’s hoping he’s come/coming of age

Born in Basildon and played teenage football for FC Dallas before returning to Essex to play for Southend at 17.

We’ve got to be objective and ruthless (didn’t NJ say something along those lines on the pitch after the match at Wembley). If we played the promotion team for 46 matches in the Championship we’d finish rock bottom, so there needs to be large scale changes to the starting XI.

Why is it a pity, we never blitzed league one, we went up via the playoffs. The same team would be relegated by Christmas if we had stuck by them

I for one am pleased that Jones and the owners have recognized this and are acting accordingly
