I wonder if Godden regrets all the advice and tips he's given Kelman now?

If he does get nudged out I doubt he'll find comfort in Leonardo da Vinci's reflection, "Poor is the pupil who does not surpass their master".

Godden has already said he welcomes the competition.

Too busy doing cringey videos with James Corden.

I know that I’m not in the target demographic- but that made my teeth itch earlier 🫣.

It’s odd. Eight signings and not a peep from any of them. Find it really weird.

  • At 33 most of my life being a charlton fan has been real hard work and not much positive

this is the first time since the prem days i am seeing us splash some cash and really buzzing for seeing players come in of real quality

really think we are lucky after all the scum that tried destroying our club to have the owners we now have who are at least giving it a good go and backing the management thats all i have ever wanted with the best intentions at heart

    BUZZZING for the future!!!

Not sure if its been mentioned but apparently Southend will get £750k out of this deal...

Also seems that Ron Martin (their previous owner) tried to get QPR to buy back the sell on clause a few years ago, to help with the debt problems they were going through. Yet QPR refused as they didn't think that Kelman was worth it.

I assume QPR will have included a sell on as part of the deal. Has the amount been reported yet?

A west London site claimed 20%.

Got to say, 20% is high along with the up to 5 million, QPR have done a very good deal,

But, we needed him and if he does well and goes for a big fee, I don't think we will care too much about 20% as a fan base, doubt the people with the money will either.

Credit to the board for having it large, Jones wanted his man, and they pulled out all the stops to get him.

    Great for Southend.

Thought NJ’s comments about the owners were very interesting. They clearly needed some convincing so fair play to him for managing it, them for being open and then ultimately for opening the cheque book

IF, and it’s a major IF, we end up paying 5m, after all the add on clauses are met, it will mean he’s been a major success and we are most likely in the Premier League. If he’s then sold for 40m then fair play to them for insisting on the sell on clause.

From my perspective I take all these rumoured fees with a large pinch of salt. If it’s undisclosed it’s all guesswork. On our side the Club are happy it’s a rumoured 5 million as it looks like we have spent big and QPR are happy as it looks like they haven’t sold for a pittance. At the end of the day who cares. What matters is how that player performs in a Charlton Athletic shirt.

(The above although in response to your post is more of a general point)

I think @ForeverAddickted should either get the tattoo or donate the cost of having a tattoo (anyone know?) to the Upbeats and the Museum

    Vote like for donation

    Vote LOL for tattoo

May last season be the start of a prolific career.  Before Orient his goalscoring record was not great.
apparently the 13 QPR games totalled about 390 mins so equivalent of 4 games he failed to score in. Not too much to be read into, I would say

Jones obviously has a lot of faith in this signing. It’s a big transfer fee for us but if it works out well it’ll be worth every penny. Lot of pressure on the young Kelmans shoulders so I hope he copes with the expectations he now has.

A lot of people saying Kelman didn’t play well in playoff final…he ran his arse off and gave us a few problems….a Jones type player

I think it was scuffed and deflected onto the crossbar. May well be wrong though.
