    Any idea on the fee?

I know officially it'll be undisclosed but feel like this could be a near record signing for us.
I wouldn't have thought so. I believe our record signing is still the £4.75m we paid for Jason Euell.  Surely, Kelman wouldn't have cost that.

Mind you, the Euell record has stood for best part of 25 years so it's about time it was toppled.
Think it’s been said the add-ons for Darren Bent took him to about £5.25m something like that.

Agreed though about time the record went a lot of other clubs have gone past this figure since we were last in the Prem.

Comment from a mate of mine who is an Orient fan and who knows a bit about football.

“Kelman works to a manager he gets on with. He didn’t get on with any of the QPR managers hence never worked out with/for them.
Wellens and Kelman hit it off in our league 2 winning season when Kelman was on loan but obv much younger then and brought him back last year. Kelman admits he did it for wellens.
He works extremely hard closing down players defo not a fox in the box. Better than that. I think all will depend how he hits it off with Jones.”
Minimum requirement for a Jones signing.

Darren Bent, including his sell-on fees paid to Ipswich, is our record signing.

All looking a little Curbs like perhaps. Retain your best players from a promotion season, bring in a sprinkling of experience/quality from the division you've gone into and sign the best players from the division you've just left behind.

    What's not to like!

I didn't realise he was still so young. Really excited by how we are building, could be great for years. Fantastic window so far.

I can't think of too many players coming to us from Orient, Harry Gregory, Paul Went, Mick Jones, I then remembered Macauley Bonne, so I thought, I probably need a lie down.
Zheng Zhi?  Oh sorry thought you put The Orient.

Even worse, I can't stop thinking Kelman joins from Orient not QPR, then I thought who we got from them and I can't think of anyone, it's all too confusing, I need a nap.

Godden and Kelman could be a lovely partnership. Doubt we’ll see it too often though.
that's the question, is Charlie seen as a replacement for Matty, or as his potential partner ? .. certainly in a couple of years Matty will almost certainly be gone and Charlie will be the replacement for him (unless he's been sold on for a nice profit)

This signing is a real statement of intent from the owners, they are certainly putting their money where their collective voice comes from, and I thank them for it

Welcome Charlie and all the best during your CAFC career.

Jury slightly out for me on this one given his record before last season (and above L1 level), but I am very impressed how much backing the owners have given Jones.

Fingers crossed him and Olaofe do the business!
Jury out? Blimey! His trial hasn't even started yet. I should hope so. British justice eh? You can't beat it.
  • I wonder if Godden regrets all the advice and tips he's given Kelman now?

If he does get nudged out I doubt he'll find comfort in Leonardo da Vinci's reflection, "Poor is the pupil who does not surpass their master".

I’m not so sure Godden will be pushed out the XI so easily (when fit).

Last season showed there’s the need for 3/4 really good strikers. And that was in a lesser league. No chance Godden isn’t going to have a big part in this coming season, even if he’s not starting every game

There’s definitely an argument that Godden and Kelman is our best partnership from the options we have

Even though it's one of our biggest signings in ages, I'd expect Godden to be number one to start the season. Kelman still has to get used to this level. Both will have the chance for plenty of gametime and allows a bit of a succession.

There is a chance at some point where we could be needing a goal, and TC, Kelman, Apter, Leaburn, Godden, Knibbs, Costello and Tanto could all be trying to get us a goal.

That's such a difference from TC, Godden, Kanu, Mbick, Chuks, and Gassan, respectfully

I think we will start the season with Kelman Leaburn and Olafe upfront. I don’t think TC has shown enough to be a starter in the championship

I agree but surely Carey more likely to be pushing for a gaol than JRC

I can’t see us starting with all 3 - that leaves us with only 2 CMs, or means a back 4. NJ rarely picks teams as open as that.

This strengthening is also about having a stronger bench, I can’t see us finding a way to fit every new signing into the starting 11.

Agree, 9 Subs remember. I think we have to see it as a 20 man match day group, with lots of scope to change things as and when the situation demands. We certainly won't be starting games with 3 strikers, although we may be ending with them if we are chasing the game..
