if we did get kelman.. then we'd have
    tanto
    leaburn
    Campbell
    godden
    kelman
    kanu/mbick

all fighting for 2 places..that seems alot to me.. could we sell someone ? Campbell would seem the most obvious, not sure on his contract situation? final year, cash in?

i could see Jones liking a Tanto/Leaburn partnership
Last few months of last season Campbell was pretty awful , he seemed to have been found out and had no plan b to his game , watching pre- season again not really seem him.. think this is a concern going into the season ??
He did lose a bit of form I’ll agree but all players do from time to time. Don’t think he was “found out” as such. Pre season is apart from fitness, meaningless so impossible to judge and in any case there have been three games and managed minutes. The Championship will be tougher for him but he came on in leaps and bounds last season and I’ll expect (hope) the same this even if it’s less meteoric.
I think also he was marked out of games, sometimes with two players on him, but that opened up other areas of the pitch. TC, Small and Godden were a very effective unit and hard to play against.
    Absolutely this.
Teams were defending more and more against us in the latter part of the season, and Godden was the perfect player to take advantage of the extra space.
Even less opportunities to do this in the Championship as we have even more quality players that would take advantage.
I am staggered that there are doubters.

Apart from forums, I haven’t seen us linked with Kelman..

I am not sure he is a championship player. From what I have seen, he is slow, touch not that great, not very good in the air. Looks an okay finisher.. I am sure someone going to send some stats on him.
He’d be a Godden alternative rather than someone to add pace and power. Not watched him closely but I doubt he’s slower than Godden?

Seems that QPR fan on X is known to be reliable and RC hasn’t denied it, so I could see it happening. QPR are rumoured to be signing another striker so it may be a case of Kelman only being allowed to leave after that deal is done.
He’s not a Godden alternative though. Kelman’s game is all about running the channels, he doesn’t get involved like Godden does in winning duels and is less involved in build up play. He’s definitely not slow though, as his game is all about running in behind

If we signed Kelman I would want him up front with a Godden or Leaburn. If we look at our striking roles last season I think Kelman fits the TC role more than the Godden role based on how he plays

I think there should be a toll and an expensive one at that, to get onto this thread. That’ll stop some of you buggers spending your whole life on it!;)

    PWR

140 odd posts, anything to get excited about or is it just more premature ejaculation?

Perhaps there's been a big misunderstanding, and while Kelman has been talking to Charlotte, it's actually Charlotte Richardson for Charlton TV.

I was meaning as the main goalscoring threat up front, I haven’t watched him closely to say who’d he’d be best alongside.

He is Godden 10 years younger I'd be very happy with that and for Godden who's game he admires apparently to work with him will improve his game imho.

Be prepared to be disappointed then as I am hearing the deal is almost done.
Almost done or about to be announced soon ?

We’ve gone from practically zero “ITK” exclusives this window to every man and his dog having a scoop on all things Charlie Kelman

Quite amusing that we've been linked with Galbraith, Kelman and Donley from that Orient team, with Wellens saying that Ethan wasn't interested in joining us because of the way we played.

I'm hearing it's at the medical stage.
If true I would expect it to be announced on Monday.
Thanks for sharing Blackpool - We've certainly dipped into the market in a way I certainly didn't expect, and if Kelman is joining, well a couple of weeks ago I'd have laughed at the prospect of him coming here.

Should the worst happen, and we get relegated, and don't get gutted with outgoings, you'd like to think that we're equally building a team that would immediately be able to compete well in League One again next season. I'm getting less and less concerned about that prospect though.

I would expect that to put Donley off as well. Him and Galbraith are players that are best with the ball at their feet, which will happen a lot more if they play for other championship teams than will with us, and both are good enough to get that interest

Kelman is fine, he runs in behind, runs channels and presses. Will be fine fitting in with how we play

Must be a lengthy medical then. Thanks for sharing though.

Berry wasn't exactly bypassed per se last season though, it was more he drifted in and out of games, and would consider Donley a big upgrade on him. In terms of Kelman, I wouldn't be surprised if its the prospect to learn from Godden that has attracted him to join us, seeing he's already name dropped Matty as someone he's already started learning from.

Kelman has also spoken for his admiration for Godden and getting to learn from him first hand could be a draw too
