why is she leaving, it just doesn't ring true, me thinks all is not well in the house of Charlton
and I'm not itk9 -
Oh ffs for the first time in years we have a lot of positive things going on at the club and still you look for negativity!!lancashire lad said:why is she leaving, it just doesn't ring true, me thinks all is not well in the house of Charlton

there are literally dozens of genuine reasons the lady could be leaving none of which need to be negative18 -

My greater point is rather a dig at how any role these days is advertised without a salary figure but happy to have a long list of needs.ElfsborgAddick said:

She's gone through this thread reading and liking everyone's posts. The club obviously still means a huge amount to her, but she's simply undergone a professional change. Let's look forward to a successful season!lancashire lad said:why is she leaving, it just doesn't ring true, me thinks all is not well in the house of Charlton

The problem with that job spec is what it doesn't cover
The PSA testing, Red, White and Black Day, the videos for sick or dying fans, looking after mascots, staffing main reception on minor cup days, puting up young players at her house and all the rest.
Probably need three people to do the same job.48 -

That’s the problem why Tracey will be a very tough act to follow. A lot of what she does is above and beyond the call of duty and beyond what you could reasonably expect someone else to do. She cares. I’m not saying her replacement won’t care but will they care enough, if you know what I mean.Henry Irving said:The problem with that job spec is what it doesn't cover

What I find odd, even concerning, is that they are desperately seeking someone to the extent of saying the job might not be open until the closing date specified which to me means that either a) Tracey’s resignation was totally unexpected or b) they have been slow out of the blocks advertising or c) something else has happened leading us to this situation.6 -

I agree, finding someone to fit the 'job spec' will be extremely difficult, finding someone who can also do all the extra curricular (and I think the list will be a lot longer than Henry's) will be nigh on impossible.
I suspect the majority of roles in the club are only on a months notice, if that were the case probably a little naive of the club to not have key people on at least 3 months notice, if not 6. It's a critical role at any football club especially when you have players coming in and out so they will need someone in ASAP, it's not an easy role to cover by existing staff, I believe Tracey was a team of 1! Not sure of anyone internally who's going to be able cover even for a short period of time.4 -
i reckon there are plenty of fans out there who would jump at the chance to do the job - whether they'd be right for it is another matter3

It was part of our match ritual when I brought the boys to a game - 'look, there's Tracey!'. Those are the sort of things you miss.8

You’re suggesting the were extra curricular activities?Rob7Lee said:LargeAddick said:

now that would be hard to replace 😂
Joking of course.
she’s been amazing for the club .
ESI will know how good she was at her job!
Big part of the reason they’re gone.
To anyone else it’s just a job, but to her it’s in her blood.0 -
200+ likes - that’s a grotesque consumption of likes, by a Charlton Life irregular. She doesn’t know her place ….Tracey said:I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to message since the news came out that I’m leaving the club.
I’ve been genuinely touched by your kind words and memories! It’s been a privilege to be part of this club for the past ten years, and reading your messages has reminded me just how special this place is and how lucky I’ve been to be a part of it.
I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and I will miss so many of you that have given me such amazing support over the years.
Thank you again — it really has meant the world.
Warmest wishes,
Tracey
…Her place is at Charlton Athletic - don’t leave ! 😍8 -
She's given her explanation, quoted on the website. Why say it doesn't ring true when you know nothing about it to make you doubt her honesty? Muck raking without muck!lancashire lad said:why is she leaving, it just doesn't ring true, me thinks all is not well in the house of Charlton

Swordfish - I have no muck to rake, just an opinion0

You never been in a job so long you just wake up one morning and go, ‘feck this for a game of soldiers, I’m done!’?lancashire lad said:Swordfish - I have no muck to rake, just an opinion
Maybe that’s all it is.
Stop looking for drama when there isn’t any.
Please and thank you.6 -
KBslittlesis - I'm not looking for drama, just stating an opinion which I shall mention no more in respect for TL1

I have to say I am minded to share an element of LL’s concern. Generally (but appreciate not a hard and fast rule!) if a well run organisation has great people who are good at what they do and universally liked and respected, they don’t let those people go. Appearances can be deceptive but Tracy looked like she generally loved the job she does and clearly local/settled given Carlo and Miles too.It feels odd to me. But who knows. One perfectly palatable option is that as a family they decided that with Miles committing his future to the club for the foreseeable an element of distance from his career might be beneficial for both.10

If someone doesn’t feel that they’re being paid their worth they generally move on , that may or may not be the case here

Agreed. And if that’s the scenario without knowing the figures, it’s a bit frustrating as within reason - you cant put a price on people who live breathe and know the club (and area!)oohaahmortimer said:If someone doesn’t feel that they’re being paid their worth they generally move on , that may or may not be the case here
anyway - hopefully there’s an adequate replacement and every success for Tracy - and Her son !! - ahead too0 -

That exactly correct, whilst we could all list lots of things Tracey Leaburn did, what you cant list is those intangibles that help create a culture.JamesSeed said:It was part of our match ritual when I brought the boys to a game - 'look, there's Tracey!'. Those are the sort of things you miss.3 -

There could be 100s of scenarios and the only one that is in the public domain is that after 10 years Tracey wants a new challenge - her own words. Everything else is supposition.15 -
You’re right bob, I suppose.1

Tracey’s at the Bluewater signing session right now. Nice opportunity to say thank you.8

Maybe Tracey should have a testimonial match in recognition of her years of service and help in securing that CAFC is still here, would be a nice gesture by the club...🤷♂️10

I bet you think Alfie May recorded that video of his own accord too ? and he wasn't being squeezed by the salmon trouser mafia !!! Maybe youre one of them too Bob.bobmunro said:paulsturgess said:

Why Tracey has left is her business. As someone who went above and beyond, we should simply be grateful, just as we are with any long-serving player for her 10 years of incredible dedication to the club. It’s likely linked to her professional life, wanting a new challenge, and as a parent, the chance to enjoy watching Miles play with Carl without it being her “job.” As I’ve said before I hope the club recognises her at the Watford game, while most fans are in the ground.
