Mad as a box of frogs…..but in the best of ways, a bizarre yet endearing extrovert.
    RIP……Ozzy……RIP.

My Dad worked in the city and Ozzy would phone to speak to his mate who ran the show. My dad and Ozzie spoke for hours and hours, a completely nice bloke and my dad bless him had no clue as to who Ozzy was or how famous he was. RIP The prince of darkness.

  • Gutted to see this. Performing to the last, but sadly to say goodbye to a Rock legend

    RIP Prince of Darkness
  • Utter maniac of a bloke who was lucky not to have gone 40 years ago. Well established in the best ever front man conversation, Sabbath weren't the same band when he wasn't there. For the record he was never a Villa fan.

Timed the final show very well.

    R. I. P.
Really? who did he support then? Or was he just not interested as I know he never really went to watch them much.

Geezer is the big Villa fan in the band.

Wasn't really into football. Geezer is a big Villa fan and probably the reason why they played Villa Park.

I remember seeing him in a documentary many years back, "The decline of Western civilization part 2: the metal years" I think it was (Penelope Spheeris made it I think), and if I remember correctly his exact words were

"Fuckin hate football.  Never liked football.  Bunch of c**ts running round a field kissing each other"
  • Great that he was able to do the swan song gig the other week. RIP Ozzy.
  • RIP

In a footnote, Bruce Wayne of the Royal Society for the protection of Chiroptera said "Good riddence"
  • RIP OZZY, One of life's real characters, really can't take it in at the moment, Black Sabbath are the very cornerstone of Heavy Metal, and I am gutted at the sad news I have just heard on the news, Rest in Peace mate...sad sad day...
  • RIP.. was a rock legend... Saw them in 76 or 77 at hammersmith odeon, he was so drunk couldn't understand what he was singing.

The one time I saw them was at Hammersmith in the 70s. They didn't come on til about 10.00, probably trying to sober him up, and I had to leave before the end to get the last train home. Maybe the same night !
  • Memories :)

  • You think that I'm crazy and baby I know that it's true. A great innings mate, go chat with Lemmy.

:o worry about getting home afterwards ! I remember going to dingwalls in the 80s to see a band & they were late & came on just about the time my last train was leaving from Charing Cross  :D

RIP Ozzy never a fan of the music but a great character.

Remember on more than one occasion running from the Odeon to the tube, then running at Victoria from the tube to the main station for the last train. Didn't always make it. Couldn't contemplate any such nonsense these days but back then it didn't matter. All the best mate.
