Alfie May - signed for Birmingham (p68 - Now Huddersfield )

I like May's non league player made good story and I appreciate him for being a player who never let us down (literally as that Charlton team would have been in relegation fight without his goals). I wish him nothing but success and hoped he milks every penny from the rest of his career.26

Btw May still led Birmingham in combined goals and assists last season and that was despite his limited playing time. With 9 players on the bench I'm surprised they're not keeping him as an impact sub.2

3 year contract probably does 2 and finishes his career at Doncaster with another signing on fee
Fair play to him for sweating the asset1 -

Good on him, great signing for Huddersfield - eventually.1

Its becoming clear that most people here dont know how football contracts work, its not as simple as May signs for Huddersfield for less money and everyone is happy. Real life isnt Fifa or Football Manager. Its likely he is getting a payout from Birmingham too as they probably need him to move off the wage bill whether that be one flat fee or if its a case they will pay a % of his huddersfield contract for a given time. If it is just for an extra year at Huddersfield then he must be on a substantially good contract there.

I'm thinking something Back to the Future themed?0 -

So Birmingham are a striker short now, we have a spare that they might be interested in don't we...🤐5

Good luck to him.0

If money was his goal, he could have probably stayed at Brum (more money?) and maybe got a bonus for staying up or even a promotion.
He knows he can perform at League One and hold his own. It's a no brainer.2 -
Pity Cheltenham Town, who sold him for £250k, as they thought it would be his last move and a chance for him to get some decent money when he came to us. Since then he moved twice, both with profit on his transfer fee.2

Stays at Brum= lazy money grabber happy to sit on his arse
Goes to Huddersfield = bottled it know he’s not good enough for the championship7 -

I never understood how he wasn't snapped up after his first L1 season at Cheltenham, as he more or less single handedly kept them up that season, and instead of getting a move up the ladder, spent another season keeping them up before we finally stepped in.2 -
Do we get any money from this I wonder?0

Someone just held up a Alfi May card, at the darts.2

I actually think May is really unlucky with what happened at Birmingham last season. If they didn’t sign Stansfield then he probably would have ended up with 30 goals with the penalties and extra minutes he’d have got, with maybe 15 assists. With those numbers I’m pretty sure he’d have got a chance in the championship. Also robbed him of 4 20 goal seasons in a row0

He may well end up being one of the leagues most prolific strikers who never played in the Championship or above. I dont think for one minute 12 months ago he thought this is where he would be now.2
