Third hand gossip I heard today was that we are still looking for more players and it is strikers and midfielders we want.
Equivalents of Josh Cullen and the guy with pink hair , please ( by play , not personality with the latter ) .

Luton linked with Al-Hamadi. I’d be surprised if he dropped to League One personally.

Like when he was linked with us last season

Was Mason Burstow and Nathan Jones together at Charlton first time around?

Not that I'm complaining but there's been a distinct lack of (publicised) interest in many of our players. I would have thought that the likes of Campbell, L. Jones etc might have been attracting a few speculative bids from other clubs honestly.

We do seem to be widely viewed as the most vulnerable of the promoted sides (correctly or otherwise) and I'm surprised we haven't had a few "bigger" sides trying to muscle in - or maybe we have and they have been told precisely where they can shove it.

I don’t  think either are better than us .  Ramsay is the one I thought we’d have bids for .

He would’ve been 7 or 8 years old so probably not relevant

Looking at who Sheffield Wednesday have left, and Pierce Charles is a very promising keeper aged 19.  Suspect we are well enough stocked in the keeper department though.  Are Max Low or Yan Valery any good?

If we want a young ex Chelsea striker then, as I've said before, I'd try Donnell McNeilly.  Looks like massive upside in him.

Valery would be a solid but unspectacular signing at RWB.

I’m sorry I would be pissed if we signed Burstow. He’s not what we need. Leaburn is five times the player he is when he’s fit.

I think Leaburn and Burstow are carbon copies of each other.  Both still have a lot to prove imo and given the fact we’ve just extended Leaburn’s contract, I really don’t see the point in getting Burstow.  I don’t know if we’re still in for a forward, but if we are, we need someone as back up to Godden imo. Leaburn and Tanto provide the physicality and pace, Godden the guile.

it would be pointless bringing Burstow back

Miller would only make sense if Ramsay was going to play wingback and Burke projected starter at rcb but wanting cover due to Burkes injury record. Also means Apter unlikely to play wingback but rather a different role.  If he signs,  that neither of the Mitchell boys are in the first team plans
Or if Ramsay or Jones is going.

No chance this season imo, unless one of them started banging in goals left right and centre and was snapped up in January but then then it would only be championship interest atm and pointless to sell to another club if we want to stay in this division would undo our progress.

Jones just signed a big new contract, also never played at this level so I can’t see there being interest now that the fee would have to be a big one.

TC I think is just happy to stay, a lot of rumours are agent led, TC seems very shy and not the type to push for a move

To be honest I just don’t think our players are that attractive to other clubs. Problems with a NJ team is there’s a severe lack in technical quality and nowadays that’s the first thing most managers look for. Only players who would be desirable are TC has potential but his end product figures make him less attractive. Coventry has a 50% sell on to West Han so we most likely tell other teams to do one. Lloyd but he’s at a point where he has no resale value and in his prime he’s not even been proven at this level. Ramsay and Edwards are the only players from last season that I reckon have all the qualities and profiles teams would want in a player

I think there is some truth behind it .  Defensive organisation and hard work make up for it but it would be lovely to have a couple more midfielders that could really pass the ball

Quite frankly, I didn’t understand the post. Wasn’t it a typing error? How can it be a noun? Who is coping, and what with?

The use of "cope" as a noun, specifically in the sense of a self-delusion or a coping mechanism clung to in a hopeless situation, appears to be a more recent development, largely emerging from internet slang, particularly within "incel slang" initially.
Ok, thanks, but it wasn’t used as a noun in the post anyway. He wrote ’that is cope’, so it was written as an adjective.

Anyway, this raises another question: what is incel slang?

We have a number of players who are unproven at this level. A good season in the Championship and their values will rocket, and more established clubs will be targeting them more.

Or maybe for the first time ever we have owners that are willing to commit funds to securing our players to long term contracts and are not willing to sell if the player benefits the club so any approach is met with a flat NO ! I appreciate that would be a massive shift change but that’s where I think we are at
  • So today we will find out who went to Croatia for the first team training and which players have no future at Charlton when we see the team sheet for the 1st and 2nd half - as I am sure Nathan would want to give all players a run out 👀

They’re in Slovenia playing a Croatian team, but I get your point, and team selection will be interesting, and hopefully a few more new faces will be seen…

My prediction is today will be another 45/45 game for players.

Wealdstone and Cambridge will be 60/30 games, maybe Ipswich as well with the key players getting a bit longer on the pitch, and then Southend will be a mixed bag with.

Basing that presumption on last summer when
    • Dartford / Goztepe we played two teams over 45-mins
    • Crystal Palace we made team changes on 60-mins
    • Wimbledon we made changes on 77-mins
    • Portsmouth saw changes around 65-80mins
No idea what happened at Millwall (that was before the Palace) game, as can't find a Match Report

I'd expect a 45/45 split again , will be interesting to see if we see Apter at all or if he's behind fitness wise. Not sure about Godden or Berry obviously they're out there but they seem to be doing their own thing.
