What happened to Vingegaard there? Seemed to completely fall apart. Great ride from Remco as expected, a shame Ganna had to pull out as would have loved to see how he could do1
-
Nice Bastille day for these islands off the coast of Europe.
Simon Yates with the stage, Oscar Onley still in the top ten and a great ride for Ben Healy to take yellow.
And what with the cricket result not a bad day sport wise.3 -
Delighted to see Fred Wright in a break, such a likeable guy and needs a good result in his contract gear4

If he continues like this he will be classed as one of the greatest ever. And some would argue he already is.

After the race Macron was shaking Pogacars hand for a rather excessive and probably awkward 31 seconds!!

Wonder how eager Cycling will be to look into it, or these latest years if there are issues with Pogacar and Vingegaard. Given the Armstrong scandal, the event is just going to have large gaps over the last couple of decades, and is going to be a terrible look for the Sport that might be disastrous for its reputation.0 -
I actually don’t think many of the current riders are doping, there isn’t much need to. The potential cheating is mechanical but there’s a pilot scheme x-raying bikes at the moment, the issue is you can’t x-ray a whole peleton.
My doping hot take is that football has the biggest doping problem in sport because it’s never discussed3 -

Bjarne Riis 34:40
Luc Leblanc 35:20
Marco Pantani 35:38
Jan Ullrich 36:13
Lance Armstrong 36:20
All known dopers.
Pogacar today did 35:08
Now i get there's different factors at play, advanced training, technology, weather, weight of the bike etc, but if you're riding times in amongst known dopers and more than a minute faster than the most famous of all, then people are going to ask questions. And this off the back of a crash yesterday as well.
He's either the most insane rider of all time, or it's something else..........5 -
Just caught up on the highlights, some rides from Remco and Onley. Been massively impressed by both so far1

Just read this is the last year of the tour that's on free to air TV. Such a shame. It's coverage is imo probably the best sports coverage there is around nowadays.
Like all sports it seems it will be hidden away apart from those who can and want to afford it. When I was a kid it meant so much to see live sports reason why I ended up loving so many.and for others it's a reason why they ended up playing those sports. The "elite" are taking all of them. They would rather lose talent that could of been inspired by free to air sports (not just cycling) coverage for a quick buck and an advert.
Meanwhile the greasy UAE have another tour won. Sigh.2 -
Yup. Will greatly miss the entire ITV4 team.4

What an amazing stage, wow1
-
Very fast race up mont ventoux. Shame for Healy at the top. Unfortunately it means france have now got their first tour win this year.
Vingegaard tried it against Pogacar but just can't break him. Don't think anyone can.1 -

Queen stage has been underway. Martinez getting the first of the category climbs to take more points in the king of the mountains. Though he needs to get the next climb to have any chance to keep the jersey over Pogacar.
However he might be in trouble due to his team car giving him a bit of a sling shot forward before the the top of that first climb.1 -
Visma with another very good tactical ride as a team. Isolating Pogacar. Though I doubt Pogacar is too bothered. least Vingegaard is giving it a good go.1
-
Ridiculous how its pretty much Vingegaard vs Pogacar with 70km left1
-
That was a brilliant shot of the train briefly shooting past Jonas and Tadej, just came out of no where0
