Exactly just have to read on the character assassinations of may, cbt, small and to an extent Dobson after they left or were on the verge. Suddenly they have bad attitudes and weren't any good etc.Leuth said:

I agree with you but I think it was more meant in a sense that he' has the potential but not quite ready for the step up in his opinion. And if he can't nail down a spot early in regards to performances that he can see him loaned back to grow for half a season in JanAberystwythAddick said:
Not shot that we would loan him out if we’re dropping the biggest fee for about 15 yearsLTKapal said:

Didn’t have a punch up at all clashed heads, hence the bleeding and had a bit of a shoving match.RonnieMoore said:Brad Hills who was linked to us was involved in a punch up with a Northampton player in a pre season match yesterday .. both players left the field with blood pouring down their faces … ..6 -
Yeah, it's not like Charlton Life to do a character assassination.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:My god Blackpool fans are a weird bunch aren’t they? I also think they left the field with their faces patched up, not blood pouring down their faces.Plaaayer said:

Transfer window has been a big improvement on past windows but no marquee signing would Apter be that marquee signing0

Love this comment on the Blackpool forums

That's right MemphisBoy, big boys Charlton Athletic. 2x League 1 play-off winners, & don't you forget it38 -
Kaminski fits that definition to a degree imo, that said, I am pretty happy with upgrading various positions without the need for a big name/marquee signing. Not sure signing a youngster from L1 is ‘marquee’ but if he improves us then it’s a win!shuffles67 said:Transfer window has been a big improvement on past windows but no marquee signing would Apter be that marquee signing
long story short, rather a few good quality tents than a marquee! 😉

What part of them being a mid-table League 1 outfit, who've already sold a key player to us, and us being in the Championship doesn't spell out us being "the bigger boys"?4

Wouldn't call it marquee,a very good signing with more intent than some before but a marquee would be that more proven higher level player which would be a bigger fee though,if we got one of those a striker maybe and a couple of class loans I'd have to invest in a new fap sock tbh.shuffles67 said:Transfer window has been a big improvement on past windows but no marquee signing would Apter be that marquee signing1 -
I’ve always thought that marquee signing is such a weird term, all the signings are important, every fan will get excited or concerned about the different players coming. They could all be free agents for all I care as long as they make the team bettershuffles67 said:Transfer window has been a big improvement on past windows but no marquee signing would Apter be that marquee signing2 -
The best marquee signing imo is ‘Beer Tent’ though all things considered I accept ‘First Aid’ might be considered more important than others by some.AberystwythAddick said:

Marquee signing is something I always find hard to define. Is based on player profile? Transfer fee?5

Great to see so many signings with championship experience through the door early in the window unlike Wrexham with Hardie and a 3rd choice Leicester keeper 😂0

L be JRC who can play there and he sounds like he’s better in midfield anyway. Another forward too please.2 -

Isn’t it nice to be the club buying players for £1-2m or so than the other way around?
Had we not gone up this would have been us debating fees for TC, Ramsay, Leaburn etc, convincing ourselves they’re not that good and have bad attitudes.
I watched back the highlights from our games vs Blackpool, Apter and Carey both look like they’ll add something different.
In the home game Apter nearly scored a great strike from outside the box, putting it just right over.
He then put in the brilliant cross from deep which Ahadme headed into his own net. The start of an exciting partnership? 😆
He did similar in the away game, a dangerous deeper cross, a shot outside the box that we deflected. Also got in the box but a bit too far away from what could have been a tap in had the ball got to him.
We have those big deep crosses from the left from Edwards and Gillesphey, and a different threat in TC, Apter looks like he could give us that threat on the right.
Carey only came on at the end in our home game, up at Blackpool he drove forward well with the ball a few times, something we lacked in midfield last season.
I can see why Offiah caught NJs eye, some very powerful runs showing pace, strength and good feet.
Hopefully by January we’ll have expanded our scouting set up beyond Luton, Blackburn and Blackpool!18 -
I love the bloke but that’s because he is our Manager if he was managing a team we were playing his antics would piss me off I endjose said:Maybe @bobmunro could give us a clue as to why NJ is so disliked elsewhere.
My personal view is he did well with us back in the (Chris Powell) day, took on a challenging gig at Luton and did well, then Stoke and Southampton he seemed very stressed, but not to be disliked so much as wondered at.
Either way I believe NJ has redressed a lot of possible negatives by his achievements with us, and previously working successfully with the estimable Chris Powell also hints at good qualities.7 -

Was a lot of neutrals that wanted Orient promoted just because they didn't like NJ and that wasn't just Stoke and Southampton fans.AndyG said:

Feels like someone that if he's your manager you absolutely get it and you let the antics slide but it absolutely winds up the opposition.0 -
Not to mention he can then return twenty years later to be the groundsman.😄Oggy Red said:

For those that know the player, is that a fair concern?
I feel pace is important for the Small role.
Not the fastest, but good engine, ability to tie defenders in knots - and good end product.
If Mr Rapture can do that - it ticks most boxes.0 -
One thing Apter does not lack is pace and that’s the one thing we lost with Small leaving down that side19

Bang out of order, sneaky underhand reading of other fans forums is despicable.
As you can see by my username I love you all very much.1 -
Apter is a bit of an unknown to me but NJ and Chapple know what they are doing. Was very encouraged by NJ’s post-Dartford interview. We a clearly after a few more bodies with the quality to make us more competitive.Am loving other club’s fans getting upset with us - our dragon is awakening after too long a snooze - hope this spills over into the season based on results and shock results. On marquee signings while his stock dropped a bit due to his club’s back-to-back relegations, arguably Kaminski is that player so far. Was on £20-25k a week at Luton so could have taken a pay cut or will be eating quite heavily into our increased budget.14

Was Charlie Kirk our 'marquee signing' one year, and some one hit wonder striker from Swindon another?MarcusH26 said:Marquee signing is something I always find hard to define. Is based on player profile? Transfer fee?
Basically you never know how the players adapt until they arrive, but we seem to be signing very intelligently right now so I'm happy to let the process unroll.
And yes, a marquee signing is generally the one who costs mist IMHO.0
