It's hard enough to try and figure out a split squad for Saturday that makes sense let alone trying to figure out what the starting lineup against Watford might be 😆😆

We have signed five players with JRC and Apter on the fringes.  We have paid money for a few.

How many have actually improved on last years squad?

Kaminsky, possibly Burke if he stays fit although at the cost of pushing our 2nd best player to a position he doesn't shine in.

Olaofi and Carey  are punts, We haven't replaced Small nor are likely to do it with JRC.

We should be recruiting shoe-in starters and we aren't.
    Bore off
Perhaps you might care to challenge my actual points rather than indulging in mindless abuse.

Who the f**k is Lennon Maclorg? Link please.
"The problem with going for Mannion as No 1 (ok with me) is that would make MacLorg our No 3, which doesn't fill me with any confidence. He looks barely 6ft, not sure why we signed him. I wonder if Kone is happy in Middle East? Perhaps we should sign a more senior keeper for U21s as Lennon is the sole candidate."

I think we are reaching a point where speculation on who will leave will be as important as who arrives. Alex Mitchell, Luke Berry, Nathan Asiimwe, Terry Taylor, Ashley Maynard Brewer, Gasan Ahadme may all be permanent departures, loans for Kanu, Dixon and possibly Zach Mitchell.
    Why would Berry leave

JRC would be the first transfer from a current Championship club.

Getting existing Championship players to join a newly promoted club is always going to be a hard sell, other you have a Birmingham type budget, so perhaps not surprisingly we've ended up raiding a relegated club (Luton) or the better players at other L1 clubs.

That's where loans do come in, as you can get the sort of player who would never join us permanently.

Not quite sure why Brazilliance is being singled out here, wouldn’t say he’s one of the most frequent posters here. His comments attract a lot of discussion but he can’t control how many replies he gets
No mate I am a frequent poster, self-aware enough to admit that.

I am simply just not at the Charlton Life cool table. It is quite heartbreaking, but I manage
Has the table replaced the clique then?

You are only a member of The Clique if you have the CL badge.

No badge? You'll be lucky if you're even accepted at the cool Table 😎

Honestly been very impressed with the business so far , if we could round it off with Apter, a PL Loan CM and another striker that would be nice - anything above that I see as a bonus.

This is one of a few posts of yours where I think "is he joking or not?".
So how many of the five and the other two targets will start vs Watford.

If I make a joke it will likely be funny.

OK disparage me, but explain your reasoning.

We have brought in players with Championship experience, that is a plus, but granted we do not know if they will succeed.
As for the recruiting shoe-in's, I'm thinking that half the players we bring in will start against Watford.
I think the recruitment so far means we should be optimistic and not pessimistic.
    Disparaging you? I think not.

The one thing I think I can say about all the signings so far is that they will have a point to prove and hopefully a bit of hunger - either proving that they can step up to the Championship for the likes of Olaofe or showing that they still have what it takes (e.g the ex-Luton contingent.)

That's the kind of attitude that will really gel with Jones' approach and will suit the scrappy underdog mentality that we need to harness. We're unlikely to be playing free flowing fancy football much but attitude and team spirit got us out of League One and can keep us up this year too.

Forgot the post, saw him on YouTube, but given your comment do you see him challenging any of our three keepers and Reid
    ?
What exactly is your point? Currently playing for Braintree Town, not sure he is a starter.

Slightly unrelated but anyone find it strange we havnt really seen interviews with the players and Jones like we usually do after every signing ? Just a few comments.
Those players are too knackered to do interviews......... after the intensity of their first few days of NJ's pre-season training in 30c temperatures 🙂

Sure, Olaofe made more of an impact in League 1 than any of our strikers last season other than Godden. He is therefore a pretty clear upgrade on Ahadme, Aneke, Kanu and Mbick and quite possibly on Leaburn and Campbell too.

Carey is a replacement for a player we didn't really have last season, but the player he resembles closest is Gilbert. Again, he had more of an impact in League last season than Gilbert did, and has played almost 50 games at this level already.

Kaminski is clearly an upgrade on AMB, and Burke is an upgrade on A.Mitchell. Bell is also a clear upgrade on McIntyre.

Small, for all his guile and running, wasn't nearly as effective as our fans have decided he was, and the addition of pace on the right in a possible signing like Apter will easily replace him.

Fans that are expecting us to sign players for 10s of millions of pounds are living in an absolute fantasy land, and that's the going rate these days for "shoe-in starters".

Your rhetoric all summer so far has been one of misery, so kindly bore off
Please disassemble my comments. Olaofe and Carey have yet to play for us. And Burke who is likely to be good friends with Will Abbott.

It’ll be saved for the training camp. Like they did last year with the trusty show host Terry Taylor

Because he's really desperate to play for Doncaster and take a big wage cut? 🙂

No way can I see Luke Berry joining Doncaster, just out of interest, it’s his birthday on the 12th of July, if you’re reading this Luke, happy Birthday.

Maybe because the only way we could get them to sign was by drugging and gagging them. We will remove the gags once safely in Slovenia, like in a spy film I watched.

On the day of each signing I find myself thinking we’re in with a shout of doing something this season. A day or two later I look at our team on paper and I start thinking again that this season will be an uphill battle

You can't possibly know if they have improved the squad or not until you've seen the team play a fair few games. A more positive take would be, if they don't get into the team then it means our existing players have stepped up to the championship - I'd be happy with that, personally. Lastly, there is no way that the team that starts against Watford is the team that starts the last game of the season. Injuries, form and tactical changes will all influence this, as they did last season.  I know we all see things differently but I'd honestly say, chill and look forward to the season.

It does seem like a lot of championship teams are making good signings, which is a slight worry

If we can make a good start this season, it will hopefully become easier over time to attract talent and convince them we’re are heading upwards rather than just trying to tread water

Is this a satire on MacLorg's lack of height, because I cannot read it?
