Perhaps a ruse to get Albie back. No coincidence top of the pile with assists even with a couple of months out and health issues.

We have signed five players with JRC and Apter on the fringes.  We have paid money for a few.

How many have actually improved on last years squad?

Kaminsky, possibly Burke if he stays fit although at the cost of pushing our 2nd best player to a position he doesn't shine in.

Olaofi and Carey  are punts, We haven't replaced Small nor are likely to do it with JRC.

We should be recruiting shoe-in starters and we aren't.
Who would you have liked to have seen us sign over Olaofe and Carey?

Mate ANY signing is a punt in truth look at the players clubs sign that on paper look fantastic signings but don’t work out. Tbh I have very little knowledge of the players we have signed but what I do know is NJ is being backed and I trust him to know what he is doing just trust the process as in reality you like the rest of us in reality has no clue

I think we are reaching a point where speculation on who will leave will be as important as who arrives. Alex Mitchell, Luke Berry, Nathan Asiimwe, Terry Taylor, Ashley Maynard Brewer, Gasan Ahadme may all be permanent departures, loans for Kanu, Dixon and possibly Zach Mitchell.

Don’t see Berry moving. If anything I see him as being relatively happy to play less minutes and take on a senior pro role. Clearly loves playing for Jones and is unlikely to want to uproot his family

Slightly unrelated but anyone find it strange we havnt really seen interviews with the players and Jones like we usually do after every signing ? Just a few comments.

Can't you go back to posting about your weird vendetta with Lennon Maclorg? Far more interesting.

Sounds like AMB is happy to stay and fight for his place. Which is admirable but I can't see him getting many minutes.

I guess outs wise it will be interesting to see who doesn't go to Slovenia or who isn't involved Saturday with what I assume will be 2 different 11s each half.

It was similar last year when a lot of the interviews were done at the same time as pictures, Doc is the only sit down interview I can remember

Maybe they're saving these for the training camp? Last year they put out loads of media stuff while the squad were out there.

How do you know that Mr Jones doesn’t see all of them as shoe in starters ?

That's my guess as well. Some of the stuff Edwards, Mitchell and Taylor did together was really good.

No idea. But they are unproven. I fancy Olaofe to be a fans favourite, but Godden was our top scorer, Miles our golden passport. How long before Olaofe starts?

Carey didn't play for Luton, so when will NJ pick him over Berry (who I dont rate at all).

Do you really think either will start vs Watford?

I’m not sure on the Blackpool fans’ math.

They seem to think Apter has 3 years left on his contract but all I can see is that he signed a 3.5 year contract in January 24, unless I’ve missed something. *

    * Yes, I was. Option of another year.

Understand the logic, the problem is top championship players cost millions.

Hard for a newly promoted side to compete. Signings like Tanto are sensible as they're league 1 proven and have the potential to play at a championship level.

Proven championship strikers for instance are worth between 5-10 million in a lot of cases.

So how many of the five and the other two targets will start vs Watford.

If I make a joke it will likely be funny.

OK disparage me, but explain your reasoning.

I think it’s Olaofe or TC with Leaburn or Godden, with hopefully another senior striker signed to add to the options. Olaofe gives us a combination of pace, strength and work rate in a way none of our other strikers have. If he has a good preseason he has a chance of starting vs Watford. It’s up to him to win and keep his place, same with all our players, and whoever we sign.

Carey let’s wait and see, I think the majority including myself don’t know enough about him. But I do know NJ wouldn’t have signed him if he didn’t have the work rate, fitness and character to play for him, and we know he has goals in him from last season at Blackpool.

Why does starting against Watford matter? We will need to change the 11 more often this season to face different threats and subs are more important than they’ve ever been. If Carey on the bench allows Berry to run around like even more of a maniac then he’s improved the squad

https://youtu.be/7WC12x65oik Good video showing JRCs attacking play - from 40 seconds onwards he scores with his first chance and got into good positions to have another two decent efforts at goal.

Kaminski, JRC, Olaofe from the start

Bell,Burke , Carey off the bench

Of course everything could change , someone could get injured in a friendly etc.

Lennon MacLorg | Charlton Athletic Football Club https://share.google/6YP8qXYW9gBZv1xG1

U21 keeper signed last summer from Rochdale , probably 5th choice as it stands - wouldn't be surprised if he gets loaned out and Tommy Reid is the starter for the 21s.
