Fantastic comp that I 100% agree with , someone will look at his Cambridge numbers need a physical striker late in the window and go for him because there isn't many other options.thenewbie said:
Ahadme is going to be some poor clubs Tedic, "still need a big guy, window closes in an hour, we'll take literally anything."MarcusH26 said:
Honestly with Ahadme it's got last hour of the window on loan to someone in the bottom end of L1 for the season but we're paying his wages still.ElfsborgAddick said:wolfgang said:ElfsborgAddick said:ButtleJR said:interest in a lot of players, think we may see some unexpected departures.
I'm assuming Ahadme with that comment?Ahadme would be the most expected departure. You are fearing T.Campbell, Jones or Coventry,
I would still class Ahadme as unexpected, seemingly been little interest in him, the wages I would think are a problem, plus his outstanding three years contract.4 -
Apter seems like he'd be a decent signing and it's always good when fans of the team would be pissed off if he left.
Not getting my hopes up though. We all know that Charlton like to do things on the quiet and O'Rourke tweeting it screams of his agent making it public knowledge to try and get other clubs interested and up the price.8 -
Can’t see anything other than it being pretty far down the line, or even done - for Nixon/O’Rourke to tweet it.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Apter seems like he'd be a decent signing and it's always good when fans of the team would be pissed off if he left.

With CAFC being so much tighter on leaks now, anything that is ‘planning a bid’ has to be either totally pie in the sky or pretty well developed - who would be leaking our shopping list otherwise🤣4 -
Heard from an FM contact that JRCs move is "pretty much done".34

Or alternatively its not even real, Nixon is not renowned for his accuracy and fact checking skills. He may have heard something, he may have conjured the whole thing out of absolutely nothing.sammy391 said:

Based on the comment earlier about two newbies being seen at the Training Ground, I wouldn't be surprised if one was JRCScoham said:Heard from an FM contact that JRCs move is "pretty much done".4 -

Hasn't Cawley basically confirmed Costello by saying he's a goer? Or have I misinterpreted it..
I thought his tweet meant the transfer was going ahead rather than the rumour is true.
Seeing a lot of Blackpool fans saying Apter would cost millions. So are we* gonna get close to breaking our transfer record? Or is it waffle.3 -

They're all saying he's worth at least £2.5-3 million and some are saying "and the rest".fenaddick said:

I can't see how he's worth 3 million but would be weird to see us getting even close to our record fee.0 -
They can claim he's worth millions all they bloody want, Clapton fans did the same and Galbraith left for less than £2mBraziliance said:Hasn't Cawley basically confirmed Costello by saying he's a goer? Or have I misinterpreted it..

Last £2.5m+ signing must have been Igor if I recall correctly?0

I think it's different though. Galbraith is older, had a year left. Apter is 3 years younger and has 3 years left on his contract.sam3110 said:

Not saying what they are saying will be right, but who can honestly say they expected us to spend a multi-million pound fee if it does happen1 -
Not sure a £2m difference is close but we all have our own definitions.Braziliance said:

Also think they’ll overvalue him as fans because that’s what we all do, so rare any fans are happy with a fee they recoup from selling a youngster5 -
O'rourke has just retweeted his Apter tweet, not sure if that means anything but I'm clutching at straws 😂10

Funny I guess but just find it disrespectful for the captain of the club after what they’ve just achieved at Wembley etc and see him as a big part of that.wolfgang said:

Need better than him, would rather have Doc. If he comes out the team we need a big upgrade as he’s a good leader too.9 -

Ok, I have spoken to someone from that neck of the woods who is “acquainted” with the Apter camp.Without going into details, the below is true as of an hour or so ago:
1) The interest is real and contact has been made.
2) So far, Charlton have been knocked back.
3) Player is keen.Suspicion is leak has come from Blackpool end to either help force the move or encourage others to get involved and the fact he still has 2 years on his contract is bit of a pain.36 -
Blackburn have just announced a new RB so that must clear the way for JRC21

You wore the red with pride,
A fighter in the engine room
Who never stepped aside. You played with heart and purpose,
Each tackle timed just right,
And every run you made for us
Lit up the Saturday night. And it seems to me, you played the game
Like a candle in the wind,
Never fading under pressure,
Even when the odds were thin.
And though the scoreboard may not tell
Each pass or clever spin,
The Valley knows your name will ring
Long after games begin.6 -

The forum has been on good form in the last day or two. Congratulations to all involved.22

Good to know that he is keen. Just about us getting it over the line now. Would be one hell of a signing.Belv said:Ok, I have spoken to someone from that neck of the woods who is “acquainted” with the Apter camp.Without going into details, the below is true as of an hour or so ago:

Criteria: must have played in orange1

What a remarkable change it is for us as supporters to even be talking about the club trying to sign player for actual money ! And not just 1 or 2 ! And so far no mention of selling some of our Crown Jewels. I think the ownership deserve a round of applause next season when they are in attendance. As a supporter base we have been scarred by the previous useless and sometimes criminal ownership that we have endured but this time it seems we have genuine people willing to fund the club in order to succeed and I think that deserves recognition after all we are quick enough to criticise and demonstrate when needed12

We have signed five players with JRC and Apter on the fringes. We have paid money for a few.
How many have actually improved on last years squad?
Kaminsky, possibly Burke if he stays fit although at the cost of pushing our 2nd best player to a position he doesn't shine in.
Olaofi and Carey are punts, We haven't replaced Small nor are likely to do it with JRC.
We should be recruiting shoe-in starters and we aren't.29
