Deadline Day from Pg.641 - Summer 2025 Charlton Athletic Transfer Rumours

Jack Grealish is available, mind you he's 30 this year, so maybe not...🙄0

Nailed on then that we will be signing a RWB and a Goalkeeper.RonnieMoore said:Next two new players lost likey our last this window will be winger/Striker and a number 10 …3 -
We will definitely sign at least 1 wing back, we probably need 2 more. If we play a wing back formation in the championship with Edwards, Ramsay and Asiimwe as our only options then we are in big troubleRonnieMoore said:Next two new players lost likey our last this window will be winger/Striker and a number 10 …5 -

Plus, Bell, Burke, and even to a lesser extent Gillesphey are all defenders with experience of the Championship. Jones and Edwards are not exactly wide eyed young naifs either.arny23394 said:
Because he wants guaranteed playing time and he’s nowhere near good enough anymore to guarantee him playing time. He’ll also be 36 a month into the season, no chance he has the legs to play the Small role.Braziliance said:
Why not? Can't keep saying Ben Watson as an example as our knowledge must expand beyond Charlton Athletic. There are plenty of cases of older players joining clubs on their downwards trajectory and doing well.SteveACS said:
Not at 35, though. Would rather someone with a sell on value.Braziliance said:
Experienced, off of the back of a good season for Pompey, leader, might have more experience than most of our squad combined?fenaddick said:
Article says he wants to be a guaranteed starter though, which is why he hasn't gone to their pre season camp. If we were in L1 he'd be worth a punt I think but I prefer EdwardsBraziliance said:
Can play left back. Good competition for Edwards. Could see him offering what McClean does for Wrexhamfenaddick said:Article says he wants to start, not sure where he would do that in our system?
I'd prefer our players to have genuine competition as we have stepped up a league, each to their own though.
As for sell on value, we already have plenty of players in that category, if they do well. Kayne, Edwards, TC, Leaburn, Tanto, Coventry just to name a few. We lack a lot of championship experience, at least in the sense of players who have been there and done it playing at the highest level, consistently.
I think he would be a good stop gap player for a year or two. The majority of his pro career in the prem or championship, over 600 professional appearances, clearly still wants to play as he is leaving Pompey cause he isn't guaranteed play time (wouldn't be coming to steal a living), and a calm, experienced head in a very inexperienced team (overrall) in our first season back in the big time.
If we think we can do better than something like that, I can't wait to see it.
I'm not remotely convinced Ritchie adds anything substantive that we don't already have.0 -
Hope someone manages to find where they are, before Preston do then!!RonnieMoore said:Next two new players lost likey our last this window will be winger/Striker and a number 10 …3 -
He is a Nathan projecteastterrace6168 said:Gone very quiet regarding Ahadme, not convinced Nathan has given up all hope on him, and we could well see him again this season...🙄2 -
I still think we’ll bring in another 4 especially as we’ll have a few leave.RonnieMoore said:Next two new players lost likey our last this window will be winger/Striker and a number 10 …9 -
Are we playing Southend weekly ?eastterrace6168 said:Gone very quiet regarding Ahadme, not convinced Nathan has given up all hope on him, and we could well see him again this season...🙄1 -

Heard we’re in for Dan Potts, Tom Lockyer, Amari’i Bell, Reece Burke, Gabriel Osho, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu, Jordan Clark, Fred Onyedinma, Zack Nelson, Alfie Doughty, Cauley Woodrow, Carlton Morris, Elijah Adebayo, Louie Watson, Joe Taylor, Aribim Pepple, Admiral Muskwe, Harry Isted, Matt Macey, Cameron Jerome, Harry Cornick, Carlos Mendes Gomes and Henri Lansbury.10

Henri Lansbury. He's retired and now runs an organic fertiliser business. Evidently a few bigish clubs use his product.
Before he retired, he was a proper player0 -
Imray available by the looks of it in loan according to our friend Nicko, Huddersfield the only team mentioned without paying.0

Yeah I think 4 in is probably pretty fair. The outs are going to be the interesting ones and can see a couple running right to the deadline.Yann897 said:

I think we should move on now, just driven past Kenilworth Road and the place is bereft of any players.4

I’d be shocked if we went through the window without any scares on players like TC and Ramsey.MarcusH26 said:

Wouldn't be surprised if there was interest in TC. I'd be thinking one of the newly relegated sides if say Southampton lose Dibling or someone like Norwich with the Sainz money would see TC as worth a punt.0 -
Random Birmingham fan on X, mentions Leonard to us, not sure where they’ve heard it but thought I’d share as he’s defo a player we should be looking to bring in.19 -

Cant see it myself . Two at most . A wide man and a creative midfielder . I expect Mbick and a couple of other youngsters to go out on loan.MarcusH26 said:

Callum upgraded to ITK, nicely done fella7
-
Bakinson off to Leyton Orient. That does bring me joy.31

Marc Leonard would be a proper upgrade, but just seems very unlikely.
He will have multiple championship suitors, will probably cost a multi-million fee incl wages and agent fees etc, he isn't ex-Luton. Just doesn't seem like a realistic target for us, pipe dream.
Maybe on loan, but if he goes on a permanent I could see him at Blackburn, Stoke, Derby etc.2 -
And with that Leonard tweet, we see our first self starting rumour. Someone on here says “I’d like us to sign Leonard” and a few days later after the message being filtered via another club’s forum and twitter we get “I’ve heard Leonard to you lot, any truth?”Gotta love the transfer window. So many lessons for wider life on how trust worthy most stories and information are out there in the real world.5
