From the games we've seen so far France look miles ahead of everyone else. If they could make us look shite, a France v Spain match would be something special.

I didnt fancy England to go far in this tourney, very mixed results leading up to it and Spain ran rings around us a few weeks ago. After tonight Im even more convinced.

Agree with this - France do look good. Better than the Dutch. Which could end up being good news for England, given it's the Dutch game they need to win to go through.

I don't think they're as good as Spain. For me i think that any team who beats Spain wins this tournament.

Bronze may well be our best full back but she is no longer the cheat code she used to be and that has been true for a few years. Carter is a steady Eddie player and again, may well have been the best option but is a weakness against top players. Mead has not yet regained her form and Stanway was dreadful last night. Quite a few didn't cover themselves with glory and the French press put us under pressure even when they didn't press.

The problem is whilst there are alternatives to Stanway, are our relacement full backs better than Bronze or indeed Carter? Mead needs to find her feet as a sub IMO. I wasn't that impressed with the Netherlands against Wales. Is that seriously the best keeper Wales can find? She couldn't kick it more then 25 yards and I would have a tactic of kicking the ball out for a goal kick and pressing her kick if I played against them.  I tthink both France and England will score more than three against them. So really it is all on beating the Netherlands. Maybe a draw will be good enough but France will be through before the final group match and will probably field a weaker side so it looks like a must win.

I went to England v Portugal friendly* at Wembley just a week after Charlton's win and I was impressed with the likes of Clinton, Park and Beever-Jones  who scored an impressive hat trick.
I know Portugal aren't great but England had legs in midfield and were quick.

For the First 15 minutes, England shaded it and the talented James could/should have scored after 30 seconds and the offside frozen picture of Mead looked level when Russo put the ball in the net but Russo was offside herself earlier in the move but that could've been deemed a different phase?

For the next 70 minutes France were excellent and bossed the match and England were so poor and were slaughtered down the flanks with Carter and Bronze made to look like Lower league players.

The amount of vital mistakes Bronze makes to cost England goals over numerous tournaments is high considering how high she is rated in the game and by her peer group.

The last 5 plus the 5 minutes added England went route one and France suddenly looked vulnerable.

Stanways had a poor game and should've been hooked at HT for Clinton. Sarina Wiegman has had plenty of praise and rightly so for winning the Euros with the Netherlands and England but she started too many players just back from injuries and is too loyal to other players.

England nearly mugged France at the end and got a Desmond but they were 2nd best to a talented French team and now need to beat the talented Dutch and the weaker Welsh side.

*I got a freebie ticket so put up with the Mexican wave 🙌🏻

Missed the first 20 minutes, but from what I saw France were far suoerior in almost every department. I suspect there is more money in WSL than French league so must again ask where are we going wrong.

Might be "more money" overall but Lyon and Paris have been 2 of the best women's teams

I thought Bronze was past it four years ago when we won it

I know she has been playing for some of the biggest clubs in Europe but other than physicality I have never seen what the top coaches see in her.

That is probably why I am in my boxers, on the sofa with toast crumbs on me at 11:09 on a Sunday morning though and not a football coach!

England won the last Euros and losing finalist in the last World cup 🤷🏻‍♀️ so not too much going wrong !

WSL Arsenal won the Champions League this year beating Barcelona 1-0  who had many spanish WC winning players after the Gooners won 4-1 at Lyon to get to the final.  So it's not only Lyon or Barcelona who win the elite club tournament in woman's football. Just like the men's game the top teams are global players.

France were skilful and fast last night and England were so poor in comparison for most of the game BUT France are the great underachievers in women's international football and haven't won the WC or Euros despite Lyon being the most successful club side in European football since the advent of the female professional game.

Can't argue with the result - France bossed most of that game. Can't argue with the refereeing either
It was awful all the way through.
But England were very average there. Passing  and decision making were just plain poor. We had chances in that last spell to nick an equaliser, which would have been great, but France just had quality, of which we had little today.
More or less my take, but in the cold light of day thinking about the referee and the VAR, that performance was beyond awful. Two incidents stand out; the red card review, where she re-started with a drop ball. It was looked at several times, okay the red call was 50/50, but not only did the ref fail to give a yellow, she didn't even see it as a free-kick? The second incident was in the first half where one of the French girls went over (she wasn't fouled amd it wasn't her head), and remained on the deck. Her team mates happily played on and the referee allowed them to do so. But the moment we won the ball back she blew for her to be treated.

caused all sorts of problems in their first game when wrong numbers were being shown when substituting players.

So after getting killed on both flanks in the first game, we keep both the full back.

Only change is Toone in for Mead

Netherlands should have scored then too easy down our left side again, same as against France.

Route 1, but what a ball from Hampton and finish from James. We are looking a lot better in this game, forcing the Dutch into loads of mistakes

Just thinking the same thing, not that the Dutch are troubling us much but a second goal finishes it
