Christ's sake. Is he broke?0

47 year old has been vs a 46 year old never was.Should be a great spectacle.0

Boxing has become a joke . A sport I adore has turned into a circus .8

Could tell he needed the money when he started flogging that CBD product on twitter along with Merson and Jodie Marsh2
-
Surely this is just going to be an exhibition? Hatton is 47 and the guy he's fighting is 46, with a pro record of 8 wins and 3 defeats.0
-
And people will pay to watch, and the slow sad decline of the best sport after football will continue.0
-
Can't they just be honest and locate the fight at midnight in a shopping precinct outside a dodgy boozer. Oh, and each of the protagonists has to have a 7 stone girl friend holding him back, shouting "Noooah Rickee, you'll kill him"2
-
This really ought not to happen1

He got hyped up something crazy but in truth was never the same level as Manny and Floyd.
Now he's washed up and out of money (like most boxers) and chasing one last payday.
I hope for his sake it doesn't end in disaster0 -
Boxing is barbaric and a circus. All the hype with the Eubank and Benn fight showed boxing for what it is.As for Eddie Hearn1
-
The Eubank and Benn fight delivered very well against the hype though.
This just feels a bit sad.0 -
I hope for his sake he isnt skint, he had a great career and I'd hoped was only scratching these itches because he has something in him that says "do it while your body let's you" as opposed to any financial need as he really did earn well in his career.
Wrung everything out of what he had and people may think he got shown up against Pacquiao and Flloyd but those two were elite level, he was a world class body puncher and relatable in a way I cant remember any British boxer being
I won't watch but millions will all the while the circus keeps circusing2 -

I will say that I have total respect for boxers, f*** getting punched in the face to earn a living. The discipline and training as well.1 -
Ricky Hatton three years ago talking about one of Mayweather's exhibition fights:
"I don’t get it. Surely, he’s made enough money. Is he skint, or is it greed? I mean, come on. Who wants to watch that? It’s making a mockery of boxing."
Hmmmm.3 -
I think oasis reforming has stirred something in him/ society in general.
Smart money says we'll all be walking round in kickers and kappa tracksuits by September and The Word will be back on telly.2 -

I personally don't have an issue with two 50 year olds having an exhibition match. Tyson v 20 something influencer is a different matter.
Boxing is the checkers to MMA's chess, so not really a surprise the sport is going in this direction.0 -

(Agree with the sentiment about the glorified white collar celebrity death match nonsense though mate)1 - Sponsored links:

No way he should be granted a license and non licencedfights should be illegal.0

He was doing an interview over webcam yesterday on SSN and he honestly looked and sounded like the homeless spice addicts that roam Piccadilly gardens. I’d put money on him dying in that ring.0

Its miles behind Cricket, Rugby, F1, Tennis etc
Boxing is and has been a joke for years, just glad I am old enough to have watched the great fighters and fights3 -

Boxing for me was the same as football, working class lads with the skill and application could lift themselves to great heights.
But as I say its my personal view.2 -

Outside of the 6 Nations, how many people regularly watch rugby? I reckon the average man in the street could probably name more current boxers than current England rugby players.
Same with tennis, everyone gets well into it during the summer for Wimbledon, but how many people follow it year round?0 -
I was a massive boxing fan but pretty much stopped following it the last few years it has become a circus and fights like this just make it worse3
