One of Adkins’ last games before he got the boot and Jacko took over.

Adkins left Pearce, Stockley, Washington and CBT on the bench that day.

I’m guessing Dobson must’ve been suspended to not have even been included in the matchday squad.
He wasn't suspended, it was during the time after the initial 3 games of the season that Adkins had come to the conclusion that he didn't rate Dobson. Once Jacko took over this was immediately rectified

Adkins wasn't picking Dobson was he.

Dobson then started in Jacko's first game when we beat Sunderland 1-0 away.

I’m honestly astounded at the level of negativity around our transfer business and the amount of moaning going on. Let’s remember where we have come from and how different it is now under this ownership who have already spent well over £2m this window.

It’s unbelievable how quick fans forget how bad it’s been before. We are now a well run club buying in experience and trying to sign youth.

We cannot get every target as we are now a little fish in a big pond. But lots seem to have forgotten this.
Agreed teams like Preston and Swansea are massive compared to us.
    What a boring, ignorant comment
He was obviously being sarcastic, and people did have to point out that they are in fact established Championship sides
Of course they are established but are we small fish compared to them ? That's my point look at our crowd pull, owners and history I was more defending our position that we ain't small time.
Yes. We are, sadly. Players don't really give much credence to history and past, nor should they. What they see RIGHT NOW is two teams who have spent a lot of time in the Championship and often at the top end, versus one who just came up from League One and who most people view (rightly or wrongly) as having survival as the main aim.

Without spending Birmingham levels of money, we are very much small fish who used to be bigger and hope to grow again.

For those unhappy with the direction we’re going in, a good reminder of where we were not that long ago.

That midfield was powderpuff to say the least.
  • That team was awful to watch, and I think it’s telling that only two of that XI are now playing above League Two.

    Where are they now?

MacGillivray - League Two - MK Dons

Gunter - retired - but left for League Two - Wimbledon

Souare - National League - Ebbsfleet

Lavelle - League Two - Carlisle

    Famewo - championship

    Arter - UAE Second division

Gilbey - League Two - MK Dons

Leko - League Two - MK Dons

Kirk - League Two - Barrow

    Lee - Championship - Wrexham

Davison - League Two - Tranmere

Playing with ten men with Souaré in the team.
No! With eight men. We also had Arter and Kirk. Then Stockley came on and started playing for the opposition.

I do think alfie d would solve a few problems as versatile. Some have said we cannot afford him unfortunately

Charlton Athletic, Millwall and Preston North End have made approaches for Mathias Ross following his Galatasaray exit.

The central defender, 24, is available as a free agent after cancelling his contract at the Turkish giants a year early by mutual consent.

Just to say I haven’t heard anything or seen anyone at the training ground.
Charlton life should have bought Chris Parkes house when he moved - proper transfer rumour facility

Might as well sack that one off - no chance given Preston’s proximity to… nah never mind

Can't see that happening with Bell joining and Burke seemingly very close.

    Danish CB, ex-Denmark U21.

Played 94 games in Denmark before moving to Turkey in 2022 for a €1.75m fee.

Spent the last two seasons on loan in the Eredivisie and Czech League. Sparta Prague had a purchase option after his loan but didn’t take it up.

Wilson has left Newcastle. We love an injury prone player or two. Jones make it happen

Morgan and Clare were also both left out. So while the squad wasn't perfect, Adkins had lost the plot with his team selections by then.

Shows how bloody awful we were that those two would have been a big improvement on what Adkins put out.

I know he loves walking, but bit of a joke that he picked players who played football at that pace too 😱🤦🏻‍♂️🫣

To be fair to Adkins, Dobson hadn't exactly won the fans over in the first few games either. Read back some of the comments after the midfield three of Dobson, Clare and Morgan stank the place out in the opening three games and they were not complimentary. As bad as Adkins was, Dobson wasn't really the right midfielder for him

Looks like he’s played at a decent level. Could be a shrewd signing

I’m getting sucked in now but being reminded of that game has brought back all those feelings of utter despair of having to watch frauds like Gilbey and Gunter

they were dark days and despite the odd run of games, we were a very shit team from the start of that season up until Jones came in

I think we need one more, and given Burke’s injury record, with Bell’s apparent struggles since his own injury…Ross could be the favourite to start. I can see Ramsay playing in the RWB position…which gives us the need for one more starting calibre CB.
