Is that not actually the case?Arsenetatters said:I vaguely remember something about Brits preferring brown eggs because they thought they were healthier.1 -
They’re often laid at the beginning of their egg laying life until the system gets underway. I once had a triple yolker. Massive egg. I hard boiled it but it looked weird.EugenesAxe said:I read somewhere that double yolks are a hens first egg?5 -

Does it make much of a difference in taste?Arsenetatters said:
Farmers use feed with various colouring agents (marigolds are one) to change the colour of the yolk.Karim_myBagheri said:
I don't think it matters about the colour of the egg yolk. If it's a dark orange it just looks better than a light yellow yolk but taste wise I think they're about the same.Six-a-bag-of-nuts said:Dark yolk is the holy grail, shell colour is irrelevant to me.
Although I prefer shells not covered in shite0 -
Makes them a bit rubbery 😉Karim_myBagheri said:

White eggs reminds me of American TV shows, so yeah, I sort of do think brown eggs are healthier.Arsenetatters said:I vaguely remember something about Brits preferring brown eggs because they thought they were healthier.2 -
Colour of egg yolk depends on what they feed.Karim_myBagheri said:

Take politics, for example.
And Brown eggs 🙂0 -
Whatever you feed the chooks comes though in the taste. I’ve never tried a dark yoke next to a light one though.Karim_myBagheri said:

Although I prefer shells not covered in shiteSome people give their chooks garlic in their feed as it’s meant to be good for them (farmers won’t as it’s too dear. Apparently the taste comes though 🤢0 -
Saves adding it afterwards when you're cooking them for the Sunday roast.Arsenetatters said:...Some people give their chooks garlic in their feed as it’s meant to be good for them (farmers won’t as it’s too dear. Apparently the taste comes though 🤢
We've given our chickens garlic granules before as a general tonic. Can't say I've noticed the flavour difference in their eggs, though.

I went to say that hard boiling a double or triple yoker is an act of vandalism akin with statue damaging or an art gallery paint thrower.Arsenetatters said:

But then I realised you wouldn’t have known until after you hard boiled it!6 -
Yeah, but afterwards nobody kissed you.addix said:

I’m going to say for anyone over the age of about 50, white eggs were the norm. Brown eggs were a novelty when they started to come around the early 80s?0

White shells are thinner so whilst easier to crack they will shatter into the omelette. I prefer a blue egg to confuse my wife0
