I think very little skill is wrong. He took it past Ramsay a few timesBostonaddick said:He is strong, athletic, is good at pressing and has very little skill and is not a good finisher. Sounds like a reserve player. Do you pay 1 million for someone is only going to play 20 minutes a game?
Finishing - obviously in the play off semi he missed a few chances but that’s 1 game, over the season he scored 9 goals from 9.26 xG. Last season he scored 20 from 16.8 xG. Those numbers aren’t those of a poor finisher4 -
Looking at the squad, looks to me (probably obvious comment) that we are light in cover for Left mid, right mid, left back, right back and generally everywhere 😂0
-
If we are raiding Stockport I would also be interested in Lewis Bate and Nathan Pye. That said it would depend on the fees involved. Hopefully they have minimum fees in their contracts
I wouldn't want to be over charged in terms of our budget2 -
It's okay, our U21's who probably less than 10 substitute appearances for the first team altogether last season are now apparently good enough to be cover in the Championship. We're saved2121 said:Looking at the squad, looks to me (probably obvious comment) that we are light in cover for Left mid, right mid, left back, right back and generally everywhere 😂4 -
'Apparently in the know' so our 'in the knows' are not good enough, we are now relying on another club's 'in the knows' . Look at it another way, it may be very possible that Stockport are looking to pay the bills, they have been smart enough to put this fella on a long contract, letting the world know that Charlton are interested is a way of drumming up interest and getting a fee that suits Stockport's ambition. They have now seen the silly money that's been talked about regarding Galbraith since Orient announced the Charlton offer, so Stockport think 3 million, that will do very nicely. So sorry, I am not prepared to believe a thing till a deal is done.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

M’bick will go out on loan . If he starts for us in The Championship we are in troublejose said:If he signs it sounds like competition for M’bick.
M’bick has not cost a transfer fee.18 -
Hopefully Mbick, Kanu and Casey can go and get loans , I'd give Dixon preseason to see how he's looking before making a decision.
Would mean we could probably look to bring in 2 strikers1 -

I remember reading the same about Ahadme when we signed him for an inflated price!MrBurns said:
If he does well for us then his resale could be 5 million plus and he hasn't reached his prime yet. I don't think we can stick to just freebies and loans. Oh not at all, just seen some comments suggesting that the likes of Fullah, Enslin, Dixon etc are ready when they aren't, I'm not panicking one bit. I trust Jones to sign the right playersthenewbie said:

If this is true, I think this is a very Jones type of signing. So maybe some truth!LargeAddick said:Although Olaofe was born in Lewisham he attended Wilmington Grammer School so lived locally you’d have thought so probably open to a move back home.0 -
Most of the young players that may have started in league one will now have to go out on loan .. that’s probably the one downside of going up 12 months earlier then expectedBedsaddick said:

If we hadn’t gone up it’s the minimum we’d expect for the likes of TC and Ramsay isn’t it?Chunes said:2 million would be a ridiculous price. Where are all these mental prices for L1 players coming fromStockport are of course a smaller club, but they’re also a well run club and have had money invested, they’re not going to roll over and sell one of their best players for say £500k when there’s now so much money in the Championship.
It’s been 10 years since we paid over £1m for a player. The Championship is like the PL years ago with the money being spent. We’ve not been a part of it with our ownership issues while sloshing in L1 and selling our better players at the first sign of a £1-2m offer, such as Grant and Konsa.
It’s a good sign we appear willing to pay £1-2m for a few players, as that’s what it’s going to take to properly compete. Proven Championship players under contract are likely to cost far more, so we need to look for the best we can afford elsewhere.0 -
Decent loan for Kanu, and hopefully it has the same impact the Crawley loan did for Grant.
he was exceptional the following year0 -
Somehow hope Friedman and friends give us a nice warchest of say 10-15 million I worked it out at 0.3 percent of his worth of 5000 million that's the equivalent of me lending someone 240 pounds at the same rate with my own savings.0

We paid between £300 - 400k for Ahadme up front with the rest based on appearances and other factorsChunes said:

we wanted him to go on loan on January but he refused and wanted to stay and fight
id be very surprised if he gets much game time in the championship for us16 -

I think Tanto coming in for 700k-1m would be a great signing. I wouldn’t want to pay over the odds for him.Judging by his contract I’m worried it may exceed this. All the power is with Stockport. His highlights away at Bolton are worth a watch.5

I think that’s pretty much everyone’s thoughs too. Needs Jones to sit down with him and tell him straight his progress will be severely limited if he doesn’t go out at least on loan. Shame for the lad because he seems to have a good attitude based on wanting to stay and fight for his place but reality needs to bite at some point for him.Swisdom said:

I’d like Olaofe but only at the right price. Stockport fans rate him but they’re not exactly saying he should be kept all cost. If it’s 7 figures it’s a lot of money for a striker who isn’t exactly prolific, he would offer something different but would he be that much of an upgrade on Gooden and TC not entirely sure. If they want similar money for what Orient want for Galbraith might as well just go all in on Galbraith5

Just to clear up the Tanto rumour, it is coming from a well respected poster/mod on their forum, who heard it from someone. It's basically the equivalent of AFKA or Ali etc hearing it and sharing it. The posters information on being told will be true, as they won't lie, but that poster may have been lied to or the person that told them could be wrong.
The person I spoke with has connections at Stockport/knows people who are 'ITK' and said he has heard nothing of it. Also, I noticed this post on the same thread:
You never know, it could be a load of crap. Make no mistake though, Tanto is streets ahead of the likes of Kanu, Mbick, Dixon & Gas, who at present, are senior striking options. He instantly improves us because he's rapid and offers something we don't have, direct pace. I hope it's true.

be could be in time but at the moment he’s a bit too raw
but he could be one of those that steps up a level and really fits in well as he has excellent pace and power. And for that reason he could be a good punt. I would think stockpot would struggle to resist £750k to be honest4 -
Been away for 24 hours, come back to 200 posts, gave up after first two pages and skipped to the end, so nothin' new the anywhere, that's a surprise...🙄1

They will laugh at that fee. Their owner is absolutely loaded/owns businesses that do a lot of trade, and has a lot of ambition for Stockport. He's a Man City fan and a local (so I've been told) who bought Stockport cause he wanted to be involved with football but has completely fell in love with the club.Swisdom said:

All their sponsors are businesses he owns. Their main sponsor traded 2.2 billion a few years ago. 750k isn't going to make him start shaking.
750k is unrealistic and cheeky for a player under contract that the club doesn't need to sell. As an example again, think about our team. We have players like TC, Ramsay, Coventry, Edwards, all in their early to mid twenties, all playing really well. If a club offered 750k for any of those, and the club listened, would people on here actually think that would be acceptable or that the club would take an offer like that seriously?
Don't go into your local supermarket I'd say to anyone who thinks these rumoured fees are a lot, the price for a pint of milk might floor you.4 -
It's a rumours thread. There is literally a rumoured signing currently being discussed. Just heard a man boarding a train to London being begged to stay and offering him an extra whippet and flat cap a week to stay and that the Bovril at football down south isn’t as good.Make of that what you will.5 -
Would expect Olaofe to need to be £1.5m minimum to land him. Stockport hold all the cards contract wise.0
