    Back to joint managers then.
  • Just see Sheffield United are about to sack Wilder. That is mental if so.

I have my suspicions the new owners are very much into the analytics approach to signings and Wilder isn't. Would not be surprised if it's a European appointment.
  • Looks like Rob Edwards to Boro and Ruben Selles to Sheffield United. Two quite interesting appointments.
  • But, but, but the bookies told us that NJ was nailed on to get the Cardiff job. Then Ramsey was odds on. And then Buckingham too. Nice business if you can get it.

I think you're right on the owners recruitment plans, but the fact they apparently want Selles who was just sacked by 4th bottom Hull seems a bit bizarre.

Wilder was really popular with their fans so the new manager will up against it from the start.

Looking at it from the owners perspective though, Wilder always came up short in the big games. In 7 games against Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland last season, he lost 6 of them.

Whilst Wilder should have got them promoted, he had two chances as they should have gone up automatically and then being in front at Wembley.  He should have been given another crack at it next season.
He's not everybody's cup of tea but it seems that he can get the best out of players.

Glad he turned us down then. I mean, imagine losing against Millwall every time....😄

Selles is an outstanding manager and the Hull owner is a moron. He took over with them bottom and completely fulfilled the brief of keeping them up and performed miracles at Reading. Sheffield Utd under him will be very competitive.

I think that tells you more about Hull City given the owner sacked Selles partly because he expected him to get them into the play-offs despite having been bottom when he took over.

For reference, the other head coach he sacked for not getting into the top six almost got Strasbourg into Europe last season.

Hull feel like real relegation contenders this season. Owner won't stop meddling with things and another unproven Head Coach from Europe.

And so they should be, we're not talking about a run of the mill mid-table side here. It's a team that just got 90 points under Wilder.

Even if they lose Gus Hamer and potentially Michael Cooper I'd expect them to be right in the mix with the squad they've got. Anything less than promotion is surely a failure for Selles (also means we can take any hopes of signing anyone from Reading off the transfer targets)

I just hope the chairman wasn’t sitting down and eating a sandwich when he gave Wilder the news - that would really upset him
  • Good to see Challinor has signed a new 3 year deal at Stockport. He should have won Manager of the Season for League One last year.

They should never have sacked Rosenior
  • Has wilder even been sacked yet or is it just rumours at this stage?

It's not been announced, but when the BBC are doing articles about it, it's pretty certain it's happened.

    Discussing compensation I believe.

  • Selles confirmed
  • It was bizarre for Hull to sack Selles in the first place, but I can't imagine even he thought his next job would be at Sheffield United.

Yes it's far more complicated than just league places, but the team that finished 3rd replacing their manager with the one that finished 21st is an interesting one.

Interesting appointment, hasn't done anything of note anywhere he's been since Barnsley really.

Well quite possibly but it sounds as if he might well have players foisted upon him rather than have players he actually wants. Wilder got very close last season and only failed because the top two teams were exceptional in their points tally. As we all know, what happens at Wembley is not representative over the season. I do expect Sheffield United to be right up there but Selles has a lot to do to match last season.

You can bet your life that if Selles has a shocking opening start to the season the fans will be on his back.
Wilder is a United fan and very popular, he would be given more time by the fans.
