Al Ahly definitely the better team thus far - just had a goal disallowed for offside.

    It ended 0-0
  • Those two couldn't have paid for an easier group.

They won't care, they're going to get enough money to go pro and basically guarantee they win the league every year

Absolutely... Going to be a great opportunity for the players

Things I'm interested in for this tournament are 1) how seriously do the European teams take it and 2) how do the South American (particularly Brazilian) teams compete with the European teams

Going to be fun to just watch some new teams as well, be surprised if many games until the latter rounds are played at much of a tempo, but gives me something to watch until Pre-Season begins.

Tournament would’ve made much more sense if it was 16 teams with four European champions, four South American champions, two champions from each of Africa, Asia and North America and two playoff spots.

What on earth is this utter woke nonsense with players coming out on to the pitch one after the other? - Also I know Auckland are fit enough to play Football, but still with the prospect of facing Bayern, I'd still be strolling up those steps and on to the pitch to preserve as much energy as possible

I actually like the idea of a CWC but as Callum says, the format is flawed. It's too much of a cash grab

I wont be at all surprised if the OFC Champions have to go into an Inter-Continental Qualifying route before reaching the Club World Cup next time.

I rarely venture onto threads I have no interest in, but as this is a football tournament of sorts, I just want to say what an utter pile of old wank. Infanto and his garbage men make Blatter look like mother Theresa.

6-0 at HT and Harry Kane hasn't scored... thats the most surprising thing so far

Thomas Muller scored and he's basically retired at this point, leaving Bayern at the end of June after 25 years there
  • Turned over to this from watching the England U21s game. 10-0 and somebody got named the ‘superior player of the match’

Wow. What was the point of that game?

I'm sure someone will be along soon enough to tell us why this tournament is a good idea, but it certainly doesn't look like it so far.

10-0 watched by one man and his dog.  . Shows what a shambles this competition is.

I'm glad they've just shown the table, after one game in the group. I was wondering who would be top.

Auckland are obviously by far the weakest team in it (they're semi-pro) so i wouldn't read too much into that as they were always going to get hammered. It's like Bayern playing Welling.

I don't think this tournament will get interesting until the shit teams are eliminated and we get to the quarter finals.

Apart from group H where Al Hilal and Pachuca have a chance because Salzburg aren't very good, most groups seem a formality and i'd be surprised if all the other quarter finalists aren't from Europe and South America.

Also, its noticeable how so far nobody in the commentary teams, pundits, interviewers or anyone has said anything that might even be considered slightly negative. Because they've all got their noses in the trough.

"Credit the Aukland team, who didn't disgrace themselves". They just lost 10-0. What are they even doing there. Crazy.

    Nice accidental Welling reference.
Last season Welling had ex Auckland forward (Redfearn) in their side.
    He was shit at Welling.
Then again, he wasn’t alone in attempting to lift that trophy.
