A surprise but just reward for a successful, talented and generous London working class boy. Makes up in part for some of the ridiculous honours that are handed out to creeps and nonentities
Extremely well deserved for his work with the Teenage Cancer Trust as well as his iconic role with the Who.
Over the last couple of years I have seen him live three times as a solo artist ( I am also booked to go to Audley End in August) and am impressed with the versatility of his performances
He launched the career of Leo Sayer after the unknown Brighton based performer hired his home studio. Roger asked him to write some songs which resulted in his first solo album. He played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar opposite Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley on a Radio Broadcast. He also played Doolittle in a production of My Fair Lady at the Hollywood Bowl. I would love to have seen him perform in that.
First saw the Who in about 1968. Went to both of the Valley Concerts. One of the best live bands I have seen and I have seen a lot. Well deserved award. But I wonder how the sixties Who would view it?

Arise Sir Roger.
Many moons ago I used to go out with a girl from Keston. Her mum was best friends with Roger Daltrey's wife. I used to see him quite often and one day he turned up with Leo Sayer and we all went for a meal in Chislehurst. The thing I remember most from that day is that Roger turned up wearing slippers.

Well done, and greatly deserved.

True story.
