One of the greats

  • RIP. At one point he was the 3rd highest paid singer after Elvis and Sinatra.
  • Very sad, some amazing tunes

Think he was a bit more than a singer
  • RIP, however I totally misread this and thought Sly Stallone had gone.
  • RIP. Made some great tunes.
  • RIP

What a voice……I used to listen to his delivery of these two lines over and over…..incredible.

    Newlywed a year ago
But you're still checking each other out, hey
  • My introduction to funk but he had so much more. Top musician.

    RIP

  • Very special.
    RIP.
His music, apart from being great, had black and white, male and female joyous together…with a great artistic symbolism of parts coming together in the marvellous ‘Dance to the Music’, where the sum of the song acknowledged the value of all the individual contributions.
  • Unbelievable musician and a massive, massive loss. One of the handful you'd just say was funk, as a genre. RIP.
  • Legendary.  Genre defining.

    RIP
  • Thoughts go out to the family.
  • Read his biography last year. A very flawed genius without whom a lot of bands even genres wouldn't exist in part.
