"Lady" Beckham will be in her element now, even more pompous and insufferable...🤦♂️
She has suffered terrible abuse over the years from the press and football chants.
I think I would look a bit fed up.
Remember the Greek game when Becks played them almost on his own. Deserves the knighthood just for that game!
That game he was everywhere, Sven ended up getting a lot of shit from the historic media I guess as social media wasn't really a thing. He had David Beckham and Michael Owen when he came in who were genuinely consistently at what I'd call an elite level. The bare bones of a decent 11 but not a lot of depth at all.
I think David Beckham got a stupidly harsh time for that red, referees the world over are letting that go, same applies to Rooney in 2006, that was never deliberate, if it was he styled it really well. Besides Carvhalllo should have at least got booked for going straight through the back of him.
Anyway, arise Sir David. Bet he wished he did more shagging back in the day before having his life taken over by the woman he chose to settle down with (the media as much as her choreography of it)
Thoroughly deserved, I would have disappeared off into the ether once I'd retired if I was him
Ask Rebecca Loos if the marriage stopped him shagging around.
Someone who has done the very best with what they've been given. Also gave everything in an England shirt. Played a key role in landing us the 2012 Olympics as well. Finally, comes across as a great chap. Congratulations, Sir David.
He has come a long long way since getting sent off against the Argies in 1998. A very good footballer in his time, he's been a great ambassador for his country on and off the pitch and does a huge amount of charity work. He's a bit of a legend in my eyes tbh.
Not aware of his charity work, but willing to listen. What has he done?
UNICEF to start with.
David Beckham has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005.
In 2015, he launched the 7 Fund to combat issues like violence, child marriage and lack of education, benefiting over a million children.
Beckham has led global vaccination campaigns and visited countries such as Indonesia and India to support anti-bullying initiatives and empower girls.
He co-founded the Victoria and David Beckham Children's Charity, providing resources for disabled children, and supports Malaria No More.
In 2013, he donated his entire PSG salary to children's charities.
Him scoring against Greece whilst I was watching in a sports bar in Swansea was one of my greatest memories.
A drunk Welshman tried to headbutt me whilst celebrating. He missed, fell, hit his head on the table and knocked himself out. The entire place pissed themselves.
Well deserved and I imagine it’s a real honour for him. Loved his comments about his grandparents when the queen passed. There was always a rumour that his dad was Charlton. Never confirmed or denied to my knowledge.
Ted Beckham was, and is, a fanatical Manchester United supporter. He even gave David the middle name "Robert", in honour of Bobby Charlton. That's probably the beginning and end of his support for anything Charlton-related.
A interesting football trivia question!
David Beckham's father, Ted Beckham, was indeed a huge fan of West Ham United, but more specifically, he was also a big admirer of Bobby Charlton, the legendary English footballer who played for Manchester United.
However, it's worth noting that David Beckham himself has mentioned that his father was a West Ham United fan, and he grew up supporting the Hammers before eventually joining Manchester United's youth academy.
That was from meta AI. You may or may not have been around on here when the Beckham Charlton debate was going on. I think we were all praying there was some truth in it at the time.
In line to see her maj did it for me. The cynic in me could of thought it was a publicity stunt, however he could of got one of those in any number of ways, ie: slapping Posh around the chops with a wet fish at some glitzy premier!
Here's a first hand Beckham story. There was a lad who lived round the corner from me who was disabled with a terrible skin condition (EB). He was a big Man U and Beckham fan.
It was arranged for him to meet Beckham after a United game, but for one reason or another this didn't happen, I think he was unwell. One disappointed lad, obvs.
Except that some days later, his folks get a call, and it's Victoria, who says "I'm heading over to you, with my dad". She brought one or two bits to give, and when she got there, she got David on the phone for a chat. None of this was for publicity purposes.

Only until you look at his stats you realise he was an exceptionally good player and has never criticised a fellow pro publicly. An awful lot worse people in the World than him.

Probably a Knighthood more than you or I have tbh. Although I do throw a score at as much Just Giving appeals as I can.
Remember him getting criticism for giving a large portion or his LA Galaxy salary to charity and got c***ed off being accused for only doing it for tax reasons. Not sure if it's even possible to benefit from giving that sort of amounts to charity, but even if ge did, the charities still must have too.

I agree. This line is used all too often with individuals and corporate entities.
In reality the person (or business) doesn’t benefit personally.
In simple terms the cash would either have gone in tax to HMRC or alternatively it’s given to the charity.

No ‘cash’ advantage to the individual.
Agreed - "I'm giving shit loads of money to charity as a tax dodge" - if it was a tax dodge for the individual or entity it would be better to keep the money and pay tax on it (unless I've missed a tax rate of greater than 100%!).
E.g. assumimng a tax rate of 40% - Company/Individual A gives £1m to a charity - the reality is that they give £600k and HRMC give £400k.

Love stories like that, no publicity and no fanfare. Footballers and celebs do a lot of good but it does detract a bit when they’ve got their media team and videographer with them

[edit - just to say this post was concerning the gong, not alleged bonks].

Arise Sir Becks.

He was a dead ball specialist and his crossing ability further out from the 18 yard box was invaluable and perfect for hungry goal scorers.
As a person, I think he's fairly normal and good at taking the rough with the smooth. A good role model.
Am not sure on the moody and serious persona after though.
Have thought that she fed off her old man.
