Just looking at other younger players in Scotland, neither of these two who have been on loan at Hibs would surprise me, without knowing much about them:

Nectar Triantis - 6 ft 3 Greek/Australian defensive midfielder, 22 years old, regularly played for Hibs this season. Might add a physical presence to our midfield.

Mykola Kukharevych - 6 ft 4 Ukrainian striker with Swansea, 23 years old, 7 goals in 20 odd starts plus some sub apps. The type of striker NJ likes to develop perhaps.

I don't think we'll sign too many in their early 20s as NJ spoke about Championship experience, but we also know he'll want to add physicality and height to the team.
    Would be a sweet addition

Get points through the app too

He’s a free agent so I take it we don’t need to pay any development fee due to being abroad, is that correct?
Can’t remember what age they stop but we’d have to pay a relatively small one I think
Don’t think we got anything when Aribo went to Rangers.

How about Corrie Nbada at Kilmarnock? Left footed CB/LB, 25 years old, described as big, strong, athletic and comfortable on the ball. Irish/South African/Ghanaian. The catch? Ex Ipswich.

David Watson a DM/CM also at Kilmarnock, only 20 years old but plenty of appearances this season.
The last 6ft 4 LB/LCB we had from Ipswich was pretty good... Someone like The Herminator would be great!

Our signings realistically need to be better than what we already have, anyone have any Kilmarnock mates who can say if he's better than Ghillesphy?

I’ve no inside information on who we might be signing this summer. But, on the way out of Wembley, I was eavesdropping on a conversation between my mate and a coach in the academy (who he knows) and the word on the street is we won’t be splashing too much cash in the summer window - we will be spending some. But interestingly, we have come under pressure, presumably from parents, to sell some of our Crown Jewels in the younger age groups. He said 3 U13 players had gone to Newcastle, Arsenal and Everton for combined fees of c£1.3m. Just passing on what I heard ..
Lesecond Yeutembip aged 14 went to Newcastle.  Would have been under EPPP rules so unlikely to be more than £20-30K I suspect.
Are you even allowed to "trade" players that young? Surely they have to be a bit older and have a contract?
This is part of the problem. I believe they can sign for whoever they want and we get compensation. If we were Cat 1 that compensation would be higher. At the moment we’re potentially a great, cheap feeder option for bigger teams. I’m actually surprised it doesn’t happen more
Ah right, so compensation the same as older players who could sign a pro contract, but choose not to and move on.

Im just really surprised about 13yr olds moving between clubs for money. But I guess that shouldn't really surprise me!
Genuine question. How does a thirteen year old up sticks and move from South London to eg Newcastle ? Does his family get moved which to me seems ridiculous and totally unlikely. How does it even work ?
The amount of money flying around at the top level I think a lot of things that seem ridiculous probably happen. I know that top PL clubs will offer to put kids through private education as part of signing them, it is really difficult for us to compete but we do so brilliantly of course
Cole Palmer went to St Bede's in Manchester. All paid for by the club. £17k a year fees so drop in the ocean for clubs like that.
Hardly a ringing endorsement judging by his interviews !
The lights are on but nobody is home 😆😆

Salford have money though similar to a Wrexham where they would just chuck money at him

Since Beckham and Gary Neville bought out their Class of 92 team mates you have to assume they and other new investors are going to try to get Salford up the league.

To be honest I can’t really see us spending money on players that won’t go straight into the starting XI or taking huge gambles on players who we would hope develop purely because of the position we’re going to be in in terms of fighting for survival. Get in players in positions we desperately need and we know are guaranteed ready for the championship

Not sure where Mulligan would fit. Not big enough to play in a back three. Has he the pace to play RWB? Not seen that on his c.v. perhaps the ball carrying CM we need.

<3  this thread every summer.  Seriously I do. It is such a Charlton thing. South East London sardonic humour at its best.
Too early to start the fish puns surely
Well i’m afraid to say as we were in the playoffs  we now have a very much shorter window for offseason/transfer window fish puns. We’re going to have to pack them in like… you know … if we’re to get our full quota.

I still think we could do a lot, lot, worse.

Comfortable on the ball, could play in a back 5, strong, quick, and most importantly is a leader.

One off season doesn't define a player, and he only turns 30 in June. Very experienced player to have.

I'd personally be happy to see him here.
He was no where near the player he was this season the mistake he made at the valley when under pressure from Ahadme that led to our goal would never have happened few years back

Mulligan sounds a versatile player and on match days we need 20 potential players to play a part if needed.
If Glasgow Rangers are interested you would like to believe he is Championship standard.
After the success of Josh Edwards maybe we have faith in our scout north of the border.

That's a promising rumour. Scottish Prem roughly translates to the Championship, sometimes even the Prem for some individuals.

If he is good enough for Hearts and Rangers (judging by the sounds of social media he is) then he is probably good enough for us.

Sounds versatile, strong and like a grafter with a bit of technique. I could see Jones being interested.

First rumour I like the sound of 👍🏻

I've been tracking his progress. He's an aggressive, ball carrier with high energy and an ability to read the game. Very determined and good in the air a la Jones. Wouldn't be surprised if he eventually represents Scotland. Didn't miss too many games. End product needs working on.
If you placed a like on this post please remove it. I was just being a dick and repeating what was in the post I was quoting. Wouldn’t want anyone to think I’m an authority on Scottish midfielders.

I don't think we should give Aneke another deal (as much as I would love to see it), but we do need to replace him. It's clear that we sometimes need that option to go long to when plan A doesn't work, and that might be needed even more often in the championship. We can't rely on Leaburn to be that yet, so we will need to sign a big man that can hold the ball up well

Who else is desperately waiting for the release list and first signing ? I moved on from the win almost overnight .

We absolutely need to stay in this division and not yo yo like before. The owners need to set their standards high. Yes everyone is after the top players available, but the championship is getting harder due to the amount of clubs on sky drop money.

Their are some good prospects out there, but the board need to back Jones with some good quality signings, it might encourage a few stay aways to comeback and help fill the valley.

Trying to stop looking too far ahead. Need to recharge the batteries after that slightly mad journey. I am a little excited already though to see what the recruitment and coaching team can do next season and who the incoming and outgoings will be.

If you saw the video of the Rangers fan talking about him, he said that Mulligan can olay a number of positions - RB/RWB/RW/CM/CDM and has played all of those for Dundee. He also said he has an engine on him and can go up and down all day. He likened him to Alan Hutton bombing forward.

In the clips in the other video, he looks to have a similar playing style to Galbreith at Orient.

We need better players for our squad, not all of them will necessarily be guaranteed starters but we need to raise the overall quality.

That said, if Rangers are in for him, i'm not sure he's going to choose us. Unless he likes Celtic i'm not sure a young Scottish kid is going to turn down playing in Europe, and playing in front of 50k every home game, and they will probably pay him more than us.

Wouldn't be surprised if you see a couple from the Scottish Leagues, Jones has a great track record of players from over the boarder!

Let's see what the owners have this window.. Personally, I think we need 5 or 6 good signings.. Certainly need to strengthen in the middle of the park, and the top of the pitch.. Not to worried about the Keeper. WM is good enough for the championship and the way we play!

I think we’ll go for a new GK. Mannion has been well protected, especially in recent games. I think there’s still question marks over how good his shot stopping is.

I reckon a new keeper is a cert.
Pretty sure Mannion was only ever meant to be back up to Ruddy/Hein/Sinisalo/Davies but all four deals didn’t happen.
WM has done well, particularly at claiming in the air, but the Championship is a different beast.
I wonder if he’ll return for one of the 4 who didn’t happen last summer? Maybe Karl Hein who is back at Arsenal after his loan in Spain ended.

As a long term Charlton Athletic supporter, and an exiled Motherwell fan, I had lots of news about the emergence of a young midfield talent, David Turnbull, who started at The 'Well and moved to Celtic. Continued to improve but his career stuttered there and he moved to Cardiff.
Cardiff having been relegated, I wonder if there is any mileage in pursuing him. I would have him at our club for sure, but I would worry about his fitness. He has had a couple of major injury problems, the most recent being a big chunk of last season. His talent, though, isn't questioned. He is better than what we have at the moment. That isn't a slight on our current midfielders, but I think we need, if not a load of signings, at least one new player in defence, midfield and up front who is better than we have now.

Jayden Fevrier from Stockport looked a superb winger against us. Surprised his stats for the season aren't all that.

Been the main keeper for the team who’ve conceded 90 and have a goal difference 43 worse than any other team. No idea if it was his fault or not but it’s not a glowing season 😂

Have been impressed with Mannion and AMB this season. But if we can find even better then excellent.

Would rather they were our players and not loans, but thought the young Palace lad who’s been at Wimbledon this year looked excellent throughout the play offs.
