I have the original. Might wear that on the day if I wear a club shirt, but I’d have liked a new one in a smaller size.

Just got a call from the shop, over sold and getting a refund.. proper gutted.
  • Wonder how many of these retro shirts they actually had made?

Was at work, saw the advert/link for it about half hour after launched. All sold out. Unless you were on insta/twitter and/or Charlton LIfe all day, 430pm isnt exactly a prime slot to be seeing this sort of news... and to all sell out within that time period? It's pretty impressive either way, but surely they only had 100 or so made.

Honestly think they could have sold 500 right now without breaking sweat

Anybody hoping for a restock, the 1982 Osca shirts from a few weeks ago sold out within a day or so and haven't been seen since.

They really need to order a hell of a lot more of these. Retro shirts are basically "forever shirts" that can just be kept in stock at all times as you don't need to worry about replacing them next season, and fans love them.

tbf, fella on the phone (sam ?) was very apologetic and did mention more retro shirts coming very soon, 90s fans will be very happy.

'You don't need to worry about replacing them next season,' is probably the reason to keep them rare. Racks of retro beauties on offer would surely dampen enthusiasm for the latest crap!

Would be a strange buisness model though ! Avoid stocking items that would fly, to punt out etsy looking tat which nobody wants lol.

In some cases, the current kit supplier might take issue with a flood of retro shirts on sale — but plenty of fans are only after a hoodie or a polo, not a replica kit. Should the kit supplier have the right to limit how many of those are made available too?

A lot of clubs have long-standing deals with brands like Score Draw, who’ve been selling the same retro kits for years without a problem. You don’t see Nike kicking off about the thousands of England fans wearing Score Draw Italia '90 shirts, do you? Well, it doesn't seem that they do.

In some circumstances the current season kit supplier might have issues with an abundance of retro kits, but there are plenty of fans who are also only interested in buying a hoodie or a polo shirt. Should the kit supplier have a right to dictate limiting volumes on those too?

Plenty of clubs seems to have deals with suppliers like Score Draw, who have kept the same supply of retro kits available for years. How does Nike feel about the tons of England fans rocking Score Draw Italia 90 shirts?
Yeah, that was my thought, that any partner might want us to focus on shifting the current season's gear. As a shirt collector, I'd be happy to load up on the retro shirts as I think they're just better than what they serve up these days.

100%! If Charlton finally roll out a large selection of retro shirts next season, they will be the only ones I'll be interested in.

.....unless Reebok make an absolute belter of a Charlton shirt, but Im not holding my breath!

Hull City do loads of retro shirts but they also work with Kappa to put out retro styled training gear as well. There’s a chance to do something like that with Reebok but I’m not holding my breath given how the club has such a penchant for leaving money on the table with these limited retro shirt launches and not selling the training top this season (sorry I’m still really peeved about it).
