The good news is that I've got my wife a ticket. In approx 35 charlton games she's never seen us lose.
That is a ludicrous record
There is an element of self selection. When we're doing well and there is a good atmosphere she enjoys the games so comes along, when we're shit she leaves me to it. But her first game was final game of the season in 2013 and a bunch spread out since then. A number in the run in 2019 and quite a few first half of the season 2020 when we were on that run.
Seems to have been this collective amnesia about how many chances Orient gave up against Stockport, which seems to be informing the whole conversation about this game.

Yeah I don't understand it either. Orient should have lost the first game, got away with an clearly offside goal and then 2nd leg Stockport missed two sitters. They are a decent side but Stockport were better
I do think there is a narrative about the Orient and the romance of them going up, which has also been an influence in this conversation, the same Oxford/Ipswich kind of thinking.
It's only opinions, and I expect many of these guys would have seen and known a lot more than Orient than we do - and granted although it was only the Papa Bristol Trophy Cup - they were they best footballing team I saw us play this year.
That being said, over the season, we beat them twice and finished 9 points above them. I think across the pitch we have the better quality players, and although they have some very talented players in their team, so have lots of teams we have played, and if Jones has us 'playing as the best versions of ourselves' I just dont see how Orient can compete.

I said this earlier in the thread, but a Stockport with Louie Barry wins that game, he takes those chances (says a lot that he ended the season as their top scorer) and if presented to Godden, they would have been scored.

You'll find a lot of Stockport fans disagreeing with you there. The general consensus is that although he's a quality player, they became a better team without him.
I think the real reality is, an offside goal and other dodgy decisions have cost them a play-off final place, similar to the Palace sending off. Sometimes these big decisions don't go your way and changes your season.
I think our defence won’t be under much threat from VAR, the Kayne, Jones and Macca have been class and don’t necessarily have to rely on any of the dark arts. Just a quality back 3.
Orient on the other hand, watched a few of there games this season and there defence seems a bit erratic and lots of bumbling and hacking involved. Seems as though pratters has been giving them some tips!
Any defence that concedes from a corner twice in a couple of minutes or so is more than ‘a bit erratic’ if you ask me
VAR in this one should be interesting. None of these players are used to it. I can see a pen or two being given, possibly a red given due to the physical nature of league 1. Same can be said of the league two final

We haven't been at our best since the Wycombe 4 nil, whilst Orient have been consistently knocking it around nicely and winning games.
I'm hoping that we'll rediscover our best form for when it matters most.
What I don't want to see is anyone taking needless risks early on, such as Jones "leaving his mark" on Kelman, mistiming his tackle and getting an early red via VAR.

I agree - likely why the pundits are backing Orient but we are favourites according to the bookies.

Wasn’t the Wycombe 4-0 the last time we started with our ‘core eleven’ ?
It genuinely could go either way, that's the reality.
If you look at the end of season form, Orient won their last 6 in the league, and won 8 and drew 1 in the last 10, so marginally better than us.
That defeat came at Burton Albion though, they drew with Wigan, and then beat; Mansfield, Crawley, Barnsley, Cambridge, Wycombe and Huddersfield.
Can only beat what's in front of you... But can argue that Barnsley (still conceded three) / Huddesfield were done, by the time that Orient faced either of those sides.
Its why I agree that it could go either way, but not sure who has the advantage.

Considering the number of ex-Addicks in their side you could say their defending has been "Charltonised".
Weather for Sunday appears to be improving. Seemed to be blanket rain and cloud when I looked the other day but there appears to be some sun poking through most of the day now
Complete opposite for me, I'd love it if he played. 40 years old now and completely washed, one less player to worry about if he was on the pitch. All of his fouls would be picked up as well.
The more of those ex- Charlton players playing, the better. All weak links for Orient. REG and Clare gave away both goals at home to Orient. REG handball, Clare bodied.
Unfortunately for us, Orient now have better players than Pratley available and I don't see him starting.
I remember Pratley in the 2-1 win at Brisbane Road earlier in the season, schooled out Midfield at times with being able to break up our tempo and win cheap free-kicks

Yep, Betfair has it slightly in our favour, as will the rest of the bookies.

I'm just hoping nothing like that happens to us.

Judging by the last fixture between orient and Charlton
Orient are pretty bad at defending the back post from corners and their keeper shits himself
They will certainly be wanting extra revenge for the result that day

Charlton 1.69 (59.2%)
Orient 2.46 (40.7%)
In 90 mins:
Charlton 2.38 (42.0%)
Orient 3.7 (27.0%)
Draw 3.3 (30.3%)
We certainly need to impose our physicality and experience on a young Orient team.
Getting more and more nervous/excited as the week goes on!
