Whatever we, as individuals, think, I'm not sure his fitness levels/workrate fit in with NJs requirements...The Red Robin said:Would you take Gilbert on a permanent move if we got promoted?
Jones likes his player as fit as butcher's dogs, running from the first minute to the last e.g. Doc and Coventry; and I don't rgink Gilbert is that sort of player.
I think he'll go for someone young and dynamic.0 -
If he's been released by Millwall in the Championship, why would we sign someone who's not considered good enough for the league we're aiming for?AberystwythAddick said:Aaron Connerly just released from Millwall. Apart from club I think he’s a decent player and has done well at previous clubs. Think he’d be a decent signing2 -
Tricky decision. At this stage , he’s injury prone and he’s lost mobility when compared to 2022/23. His hold up play isn’t that good either . His highlights reel is impressive - someone might still pay some money for himsam3110 said:
Have another season like the last one and he'll be lucky to get a new deal with us, let's be honest.killerandflash said:We also have to make a decision with Miles, as with one year left on his contract, we either need to get a new deal sorted or it makes sense to sell him if the fee is right.0 -
Why are MI5 staff moonlighting as footballers?By killerandflash said:
The problem is that so many deals rely on other deals happening first, so there's a whole chain of events that get pushed back to the end, whatever the cutoff time.thenewbie said:
Exactly, if you have left things so late that the loss of 4 hours completely ruins your plans then that's probably just bad planning on your part.fenaddick said:I actually think it’s a good move, stops people like media teams having to wait around for ages and doesn’t make a difference in the grand scheme of things
Preston and Bristol City are both chasing player A from Ipswich
If Preston sign A, then we can sign player B from them, but if Bristol sign A, then Preston will keep B
If we sign B, then we will loan player C to Lincoln
If we don't sign B, then we will try and sign player D from Oxford
If we sign D, the Oxford will try and sign player E on loan from Sunderland
If we sign neither B or D, we will keep player C
etc1 -
Because the spanners will be aiming at the playoffs and we’ll be aiming at survival?SteveACS said:

Might step up now as Phil Chapple is back as Head of Recruitment.

Players who are “released” are not necessarily not good enough.SteveACS said:

Think he’d be a decent signingThey could be players who will not sign a new contract, or the Club has better in that position, or he does not fit the style of play, or they have a youngster coming through, or maybe aiming higher, or have more money to upgrade. We may consider him an upgrade in a position, good cover, or a cheap option so we can spend more elsewhere.1 -
Delighted with thatking addick said:Might step up now as Phil Chapple is back as Head of Recruitment.

Bit disappointed we didn't bring Tommy Dreisen back instead9

Good news and as many predicted. Seemed obvious once Luton said he has left them.king addick said:Might step up now as Phil Chapple is back as Head of Recruitment.

Hakeem Odoffin from Rotherham is available. Big fan favourite and has Champ experience, could partner Coventry nicely or play CB6

Connolly is by most accounts, a bit of a bellend.AberystwythAddick said:Aaron Connerly just released from Millwall. Apart from club I think he’s a decent player and has done well at previous clubs. Think he’d be a decent signing
There's a reason he's looking for his 4th club in less than 18 months.1 -
I wonder if Jes Rak-Sakyi will stay in the championship. Hasn't really torn up trees at Sheffield Utd2

Time the yearly reminder that just because a player is released it don’t mean they’re bad.SteveACS said:

FLW link us to Bradley Ibrahim, midfielder at Hertha Berlin who was on loan at Crawley. Usual caveats about FLW etc but it is a rumour

Considering we won’t even know which League we’re going to be in next year would be surprised if this is truefenaddick said:FLW link us to Bradley Ibrahim, midfielder at Hertha Berlin who was on loan at Crawley. Usual caveats about FLW etc but it is a rumour

If we go up, we will be aiming for promotion again. Why not? Not saying it’ll happen, but that should be goal.AddicksAddict said:

Jones is already on record stating that our targets are not dependent on which division we play in next season, only that it is more likely for them to come should we find ourselves promoted to the Championship.Crispywood said:

In which case I’d be surprised if that’s the sort of profile we’re looking at. I’d presume we will be looking at more experienced players who are either top end L1 players who can make the step up or Championship players who may not be top 6 quality but would be decent for a mid table/lower championship side, rather than potential players for the futureNo.1 in South London said:Jones is already on record stating that our targets are not dependent on which division we play in next season, only that it is more likely for them to come should we find ourselves promoted to the Championship.

You need both, all good planning for next season but you need to future proof tooCrispywood said:

Scored 7 and assisted 2.Obviously a drop off from league one with us but it is a league above.0 -
He's done ok, but they're not the stats of a player that is going to play Premier League football next season imo. Hence why I think he may go elsewhere in the Championship if Sheffield Utd go up.stoneroses19 said:Pelling1993 said:I wonder if Jes Rak-Sakyi will stay in the championship. It sounds nice, but in reality though that list of targets will at the top have players who will only join a decent Championship club, and at the other end 5th choice players probably more suited to L1.No.1 in South London said:

Agreed, but that doesn't mean Bradley Ibrahim isn't a target....... who knows?killerandflash said:

How much experience or which team a player has recently played for doesn't determine the "profile" of the players we want to attract......... Ramsay & Small being two around the time Jones came in that wouldn't have been too dissimilar in make up to Ibrahim0 -
Yes, probably more suited to the higher level. The Red Robin said:Would you take Gilbert on a permanent move if we got promoted?0 -
Don’t think there’d be any chance of us getting him though. Will have a lot of interest from higher up the leaguePelling1993 said:

Lincsaddick said:Another wish, NOT rumour .. Angus Gunn, Norwich & Scotland goalkeeper, leaving Narge on contract expiry .. would solve our keeper problem (on high wages, BUT i m o would be well worth a big salary)
He's left and moved back up north. We were visiting friends 2 weeks ago in Norwich and randomly they were popping to a neighbours house to buy curtains as the fella was moving.... Bryan Gunn opened the door and finalised the deal lol1 -
Thanks for the info, I suspected that he had a move lined up before letting his Norwich options run out .. but Bryan is his dad ? .. were they very nice curtains ?shine166 said:Lincsaddick said:Another wish, NOT rumour ..
