No one is talking about the ref. Which is exactly as it should be.
I'll say one thing. Early on, one of their cheating fuckers (can't remember which one) laid prostrate on the floor trying to get the game stopped as we were attacking. Ref took no notice at all and let play commence. Think he was wise to them. Good!
That event happened whereby he got clattered in a challenge for the ball by the byline. He was 5 yards off the pitch, then sauntered back on to the pitch and after about 5 yards, just dropped to the ground. Cheat is absolutely it.
Incredible atmosphere. Havent heard The Valley like that in a long time. The 9 hour round trip was worth it. Very weird tactic by WW to time waste from the off.
I know that Campbell had a game where he had little joy against the Wandering Thugs in their defence, but you have to admire the fact that, as a young lad, he kept trying and was willing to risk repeated physical assault. He always made himself available. He did I suppose get slightly more protection than in the first game but it still seemed a thankless task which many of our previous wingers would have bottled ie Kirk.
On NJ at full-time, his reaction is purely human. He is a person who lives for this. He is 100% all in at Charlton. I firmly believe, that right now, there isn't a single fan that feels the joy of the win last night, more that NJ.
A lot is said about whether people like him. The sky commentator said to him post match, they are all singing your name, to which he promptly retorted, that they were wanting him sacked in November. He quickly explains that a season isnt won or lost in January, it is at the end if the season that it all matters. He went in to speak of his faith in God and how at full time, he dropped to his knees and was thanking God.
I say let him be eccentric and odd. I would rather him with his overblown passion, than 'Mr I keep my hands in my pockets' looking like he's at a funeral on the touchline.
As for other fans being sniffy about the scenes at full-time, well any fan who has been through it with their club, will get the emotions and why the celebrations were so OTT. This club might not have won anything yet this season, but it has gone a long way to winning back the hearts of many a fan that had got disillusioned by the decline and lack of care from owners and managers for too many years.
If I'm a Wycombe fan, I'd still be raging that Kone was left out of the starting XI v Charlton at Xmas. That appeared to give us an unnecessary boost, when we were almost out for the count form-wise and it appeared to be the beginning of them falling away from the top spots. Looked a pretty pivotal decision to me.

It certainly was: That strange decision was made by Bloomfield and Kone scored when he came on as sub with a sweet strike. He was on the top of his form at that time. When Bloomfield a short time after went to Luton they immediately put in a bid for Kone.
Superb ball forward from Gillesphey - that was no random punt, was the perfect weight for either Aneke or Jones - both runners knew the drill.
An amazing run, and take, from Jones to get the ball under some control. Move aside, Chuks Aneke! - and he knew to step back rather than get in the way.
Jones didn't break his stride to get that second touch - how often do players hesitate for a split second and the chance is gone.
Their keeper flinched, instead of being brave. He was 90/10 favourite for it when it first left Jones' boot. Stage fright on the big occasion? Credit to the crowd! Mannion deals with that.
Great composure from Jones to stay on his feet once he nicked the ball past their keeper - if he clatters the keeper the referee gives a free kick.
Godden the coolest man in the stadium to control the loose ball and poke home - entirely instinctive, muscle memory kicked in.
A wonderful few seconds during which lots could have gone wrong - but it didn't - hard work and togetherness pays off - and you get those amazing, joyous, scenes as a result.
There may have been a positive reaction to the atmosphere last night, but spare a thought for the poor pigeons who had their routine completely disrupted- I don't think I saw one all night- certainly not after they used the flame throwers.
Christ what a night...Asleep by 2ish and leaving for work at half 6.
Dont agree with some that it wasnt a good performance, Wycombe are a shit team with shit tactics along with some half decent players who make life difficult and yes they did at parts but overall, I thought we played well bar a funny 15 mins midway second half.
Gilbert looked assured and I thought Coventry was brilliant. Doc not so much on the ball but gets himself about for sure! Lloyd Jones is a monster, don't think I can remember a CB winning so many headers.
Orient are a decent side but I think we have every reason to go there and be confident of a win! Orient will try to actually football so we (in theory) will have more opportunities.
What a team…never gave in again,Wycombe trying everything in their power to stop a game of football, ref was 100 times better than Sunday, but did book Godden for kicking ball away yet just before that never booked their player who did the same, well it seemed to me to take an age that goal im sure I saw it in slow motion then was waiting for it to be disallowed for a foul on the keeper…got to mention Ramsay his blocks were as good as the goal scored…defence stood firm with Lloyd winning everything, midfield once they worked it out to keep it in the floor gave us that edge, wasn’t alot going up top for most of game but they did enough…& Chuks did his job to a T when he came on…along with the rest of the team who just get more determined not to be beaten…gotta love NJ at the end too…One more will do it boys, roll on Wemmmbeerleeey ❤️🤍
Wasn't Godden booked for looping the ball over the keeper and into the net, after the ref had blown for an off-side?

Yes.
And the ref failed to book one of their players who booted the ball 50 yards into our half after conceding a free kick early on in the 2nd half.
The ref was better than most but he really didnt want to get involved in any "time wasting" tactics.
I found it nerve wracking there tonight, but maybe I am the only one who didn't think it was a poor game. It was a compelling contest, and there was a huge part of it that was about watching proper sportspeople putting their athleticism and combativeness against each other. It had an element of the nature of the demands of sport, and for me it was impressive. Both teams were trying their hardest, but we were better.

He will be gone in the summer, as much as I think his tackle or tackles in the first leg was a shocker, he'd be right to go because Dodds doesn't play expansive football to bring the best out of Kone.
Karoy Anderson take a bow. For a ten minute cameo that was as good as you will get - literally never stopped running, huge blocks, and was pivotal in seeing out the game relatively comfortably.
Kayne Ramsay is just a total Rolls Royce of a football player. Lloyd Jones and Macca were immense.
The pre match routine and everything set up by the club was superb - since we returned to The Valley I’ve never seen the place like that.

Think we missed Berry, he's anonymous a lot of the time, quietly and effectively goes about his business.
Maybe but Gilbert is decent and had another good game.
I must have been at a different game because I thought Gilbert was gash. Especially his deadball routines. In fact our midfield 3 were about as creative as a dead slug. I'd drop Docherty & play Anderson, and Berry (if fit) for Gilbert.
And I know why people usually disagree with me because if you sit in the Covered End lower you cant see from the 6 yard line to the goal line. I know I'm short & would probably help being 6ft 2 but even with everyone sitting down the view is poor. Never sat there before & never will again. AC stand everytime.
Very weird comment. Gilbert was MOM, no doubt.
Good in the first half. Not so good in the second. And the corners and free kicks were very poor.

I think they'll sell but it won't be anything near the £7m they had on the table in January. 2 in 14 I think I saw his stats were? Have seen some criticism of Dodds for playing him wide a lot with Udoh central.
Doesn’t matter in the final analysis but I was flabbergasted NJ took Small off. What was he thinking! TC had been far less effective - surely he should have been subbed.
No one is talking about the ref. Which is exactly as it should be.

There was the incident early-ish on when someone (Bradley maybe?) Led with the elbow against Jones when we were attacking a set piece at the JS end. Ref had already blown for something thay happened nearer the pen spot and he still tried to smash Jones in the head off the ball. Scumbag.
Just watched the pre match Sky stuff and then the second half and post match stuff. How lovely it was to see some much welcome coverage of Wrexham and especially the shots of their owners celebrating their promotion. Just a bit surprised there wasn’t a homage to Birmingham too.

I presumed that Small was getting to the limits of what he could manage, just back from whatever injury kept him out of the last two games, so was hopefully done with the hindsight of: "Lets preserve him for Wembley" - @Chris_from_Sidcup made the right comment on the Match Thread last night, wondering if we could have got another ten minutes out of him, yet our management of players with Will Abbott in the building now is so much better.
I thought switching Campbell to the right worked better for TC as well, as he didnt have to deal with Grimmer anymore.
Karoy Anderson take a bow. For a ten minute cameo that was as good as you will get - literally never stopped running, huge blocks, and was pivotal in seeing out the game relatively comfortably.

great post - Anderson was unbelievable when he came on, felt he could've come on 10 mins earlier
the stuff before the game was excellent, liked all the flags including the ones in front of the Covered End
Was a little worried when Chuks came on as felt a bit early and Small hadnt shown signs of tiring, but he was effective.
Also thought Anderson was faultless in his short time, yet again. Showed some skill, won a free kick and pressed hard when we needed it.
Chuks and Anderson, whatever limitations they may have, are absolutely made for a scenario like that. Chuks to come on, puff out his chest, hold the ball up and drain some minutes off the clock. Anderson to just burn around the pitch and hassle and harry their tiring, desperate legs. I agree though, Anderson in particular played his role really well.
Godden looked so much more effective after Chuks came on. He battled hard against 2 defenders much bigger than him but when Chuks came on and took their attention, giving Godden the space to play off the shoulder a little bit, make those runs in behind and gamble on second balls. Just looked so much better and knew he would score.
Think we missed Berry, he's anonymous a lot of the time, quietly and effectively goes about his business.

Good in the first half. Not so good in the second. And the corners and free kicks were very poor.
His lack of game time plays against him, he's not been able to influence over the 90. I agree with you Evesham, excellent first half, not so in the second. Would be an interesting situation if we had him brought up to our fitness levels at the seasons start.
Doesn’t matter in the final analysis but I was flabbergasted NJ took Small off. What was he thinking! TC had been far less effective - surely he should have been subbed.
I was equally as baffled. Small seemed to be annoyed too.
But fair play to NJ's calls. The subs gave great energy, and TC seemed to have new energy when moved out to the right hand side.
