What I really like about this team was when we went 1-0 up the stress was there in general but I never really felt like we’d concede. Their best bet at getting anything was hitting us on the counter and we weren’t going to let that happened once we scored. We’re so solid and organised at the back, it really was just a case of waiting for the seconds to tick by so we could celebrate. Haven’t had a Charlton team like that in a long time32

I know I'm short & would probably help being 6ft 2 but even with everyone sitting down the view is poor. Never sat there before & never will again. AC stand everytime.4 -

I am absolutely delighted for Nathan Jones, what a fantastic redemption story.
When he came to us he was close to untouchable, he had failed miserably at Stoke and Southampton, and was basically publicly humiliated at the latter.
Making things worse, his former club, Luton Town, were now in the Premier League and doing very nicely indeed without him, thank you very much.
Then we came calling, we were at the lowest ebb of our modern history, flailing around the lower reaches of League One, and Jones was about as desirable in managerial terms as a pork roast at a Bar Mitzvah - but we were perfect for each other.
Charlton needed someone who was desperate enough to give us everything they had and Jones needed someone to give him one more chance to prove that what he had done at Luton was no fluke, and that he had real managerial ability.
As the great Lennie Lawrence once said when asked what sort of players he liked to sign, anger and hunger are the two biggest motivating forces you will ever find, Jones was angry about the treatment and abuse he had received and as hungry as anyone could ever be to prove himself.
Who cares what anyone else thinks about him? It is absolutely wonderful to have a man running our club who cares so passionately about what he does and doesn't care who sees it, it's not done for effect, it's done because it's who he is.
Just one more game to win to complete one of the greatest comebacks for both Nathan Jones and our club.

I thought Gilbert was running the game at times. In a physical game of hoofball, he was the one bringing the ball down and getting us playing. Thought he was constantly involved and looks like he can offer more than Berry.30

Was fully expecting the ref to disallow the goal for a foul on the keeper but hey, he didn't, correctly, and Wycombe had nothing to offer after they went behind.
Orient will be a different type of game, far more open and trying to beat us with attacking skill rather than endless long balls to turn us around.
Back five were immense, another clean sheet and when the chance came Alfie Godders took it
The atmosphere was great so the moaners and "we're setting ourselves up for a fall" whingers can stick a paper plane were the sun don't shine.

Incidentally, haven’t seen a replay yet, but did Lloyd Jones bring that ball down from Gillesphey‘s pass to set up the winner? Wasn’t sure if it hit the defender. If it was Jones it was sheer class.1

What a beautiful sight a full Valley is, especially under the lights. And what a glorious thing to be part of that passionate, noisy crowd roaring Charlton to a win to clinch another Wembley appearance. Magical.25

I think they came resigned to going out. Should read their match thread. Mostly arguing about how Dodds has turned them from a free scoring team to not now having scored in nearly 500 minutes, how the Chairman effectively forced Bloomfield out, how the Chairman has cocked it up, the fact that none of the starting eleven tonight should be there next season. They are not happy bunnies. A fair few said we deserved to go through but more because they were awful as opposed to us being any good.killerandflash said:

What an evening. The BBC commentator said that they have never heard a noise like when we scored, and the Valley was literally shaking at the end. I won’t be sleeping for a few hours!

What a team…never gave in again,Wycombe trying everything in their power to stop a game of football,ref was 100 times better than Sunday,but did book Godden for kicking ball away yet just before that never booked their player who did the same,well it seemed to me to take an age that goal im sure I saw it in slow motion then was waiting for it to be disallowed for a foul on the keeper…got to mention Ramsay his blocks were as good as the goal scored…defence stood firm with Lloyd winning everything,midfield once they worked it out to keep it in the floor gave us that edge,wasn’t alot going up top for most of game but they did enough…& Chuks did his job to a T when he came on…along with the rest of the team who just get more determined not to be beaten…gotta love NJ at the end too…One more will do it boys,roll on Wemmmbeerleeey ❤️🤍6

I thought Aneke did well when we came on. Slow it down, won some headers, nice pass to Godden to take it into the corner. Hopefully he gave Leahy a little kick in the tunnel after (or at least poked his tongue out at him).15

Wycombe like playing for fouls, but it was notable that none of them protested to the referee that it was a foul, as they knew the keeper had bottled it.7 -
