That "giant flag" in the cupboard end for the last game - I've got bigger duvet covers!
I'll never forget the dreadfully uncomfortable sight of a tall chap, gamely legging it up the touchline at Wembley in 98 with a microphone some time before kickoff, charged with "getting the singing going" or some such futility. We were singing fine well already and had been since we got to the Griffin in Villiers Street several hours earlier. No intended disrespect to the enthusiast concerned.
Dishing out cards to all seats will end up with a steady shower of paper aeroplanes and attendant massive clearup operation for afterwards.
They'd do just as well to put Squeeze and 3 Blokes on repeat on the PA and let us enjoy it all just as we always do.
None of it's even gonna show up on telly cos Sky will be running relentless commercials until kickoff.
My son does the music on matchdays & he found the song by "3 blokes from F block" and I suggested he pays it tomorrow. I also suggested he plays "congratulations" by Cliff Richard after the game (assuming we win of course 😄) as I remember that being played at home games after a win.....but that was in the 70's mind.1 -
Was in Covered end upper that night and had no recollection of this. Shows that it's a pretty minor part of the day. Just get on board.Taxi_Lad said:

Is the giant flag that bedsheet that was floating around was it the Burton game or the one prior ? That is a pathetic excuse for a giant flag. What happened to the proper Giant flag that used to be passed across the Covered End & over to the East Stand (as was) or Killers flag. That current "Giant Flag" is an embarrassment.bobmunro said:Not a problem with the initiative, just not sure the timings are right here - similarly the giant flag that will be traversing the West Lower at the same time. Both should be done and dusted immediately before the team comes out of the tunnel.5 -
It wasn’t pathetic. That’s harsh.charltonbob said:

I hardly think that they are pushing the boat out but anyway ............Have the club not seen/heard the pumped up crowd for the last couple of months especially away, do they really think that holding a bit of paper in the air is going to get the hairs on the back of the neck standing up ? Hopefully no one will bother but if they do I hope that everyone turns it back to front so there are 25000 pics of Nathan Jones staring at the players. That should ensure that the players are pumped up.Davo55 said:I'm a bit surprised at the negativity about this. The club are pushing the boat out to try to pump things up a bit for the most important match we've had for years. Good on them, and I'm looking forward to seeing it and to the whole atmosphere.8 -

The west stand ? Oh my word can you imagine, thermos flasks being kicked over, blankets being trampled on, all the poor buggers with arthritis/rheumatism struggling to lift their arms. They'll be too knackered to clap & cheer after all that effort. Nurse !!!Gribbo said:0 -

Wasn't it you who said you didn't want to get a ticket from anyone on here, as they'd work out who you are?golfaddick said:Oh dear.
1-0 already to Wycombe.
Just leave the fans to do what they have always done. Sing, shout & cheer. No other bollox is needed.
This & the half & half scarves just proves to me that the owners haven't a clue how to run an English football club.
Utter gash.
Ps. I'm in the Covered End tomorrow. If there is anything on my seat when I get into the ground its getting torn up and/or thrown onto the pitch.
Tomorrow night we'll have a packed Covered End and you'll be the only one there not holding up your piece of paper.9 -
Perhaps instead of holding up bits of paper they could clap, sing, make lots of noise create an atmosphere not make it look like an origami class for beginners.bobmunro said:charltonbob said:

We will also be singing, it's very strange that a few of our fans think holding something will render them mute.charltonbob said:

More practical for sure, after the game you could fold it up & put it in your back pocket.valleynick66 said:

It's different I'll agree, in that for a "Giant Flag" it's miniscule. We could be done under the trade description act if we were selling that as a Giant Flag2 -

Yes we want a great atmosphere, but I something wonder if its effectiveness is a touch exaggerated.
On Sunday it was noted that the players before the game could hear the incredible singing from the away end, and were inspired by it. BUT when the game started, it was a dead even slog, with Wycombe if anything shading the first 10 minutes, 51-49. The atmosphere before the game in the away end didn't lead to our players playing better than the opposition, or indeed putting in more effort.
Doncaster 2019 had a great atmosphere, but we lost the match on the night4 -
1800 outsinging 4600 or whatever it was is slightly impressive, but it's a bit different to nearly 25k cheering on a team at home.killerandflash said:Yes we want a great atmosphere, but I something wonder if its effectiveness is a touch exaggerated.
