I wonder if Charlie Barker will be on our radar?

I thought he played really well in both games, seemed fairly comfortable on the ball, won Crawleys player of the season.

Always worth looking at the relegated sides best players imo. We were close to the drop zone last season and two of ours that left have won promotion and a fair few may still.

Josh Stokes at Cambridge, 20 years old and managed 7 goals and 2 assists in a poor side.

I've really liked the look of Liam Bennett everytime we play them as well. He's always against a tough winger (last season CBT, this season TC) and he really holds his own, great crosser.
  • I like the look of Bennett too, always hard to tell if a player just likes playing us or is always like that though. His numbers are pretty good when you consider that he plays for a relegation threatened side. Looks like he’s out of contract this summer too. Wouldn’t be one for the Championship but would be a decent Watson replacement.
  • Stokes is on loan from Bristol City, there’s a chance they’d loan him out to a top of L1 side next season
  • Before any transfers we need to make sure NJ is staying. Personally i dont think he will if we stay in Div 1

    Least of our worries IMHO
If he leaves all the achievement this season basically goes down the toilet 🚽

I get the feeling he's really "in" for the longer haul though.  Can't see him leaving this season unless Cardiff offer so much silly money.
  • Think Charlie Kelman is destined for the championship now, outstanding season.

I wonder if QPR are already holding talks.
He had one good season don’t make him
    chamoionship level

Why he 12 months into the 4 year project that he joined for … he going nowhere

I also rate Bennett but I really don’t think his profile is something Jones is looking for. Physicality is very important so I can’t see us making a move for a player that size unless they were truly exceptional
  • This thread is a tad premature, as Marlene said to Boycie...

why do I always read your posts as if they have been written by a Native American?

I’ve mainly scoured TransferMarkt and Fot Mob for those Out of Contract this summer.

    GK:

    1. Nathan Baxter - 26 - Bolton (Out of Contract)
    2. George Wickens - 22 - Lincoln (Would cost a Fee)

    LCB:

    1. Sean Roughan - 22 - Lincoln (Out of Contract)
    2. Akin Famewo - 26 - Sheff Wed (Out of contract, I personally feel he’d be an improvement on Macca)
    3. Luke M’Bete - 21 - Man City {on loan at Northampton} - (Out of contract) Would be a punt based on potential.

    Small Replacement:

    1. Josh Neufville - 23 - Wimbledon (Would cost a fee) Played Wing Back this season, naturally a winger, quick, direct and can cross, would cost a fee.
    2. Dillon Markandy - 22 - Blackburn {on loan at Orient} (Out of Contract) Left footed right winger, again, has played as an advanced wing back at times this season, out of contract

    CM:

    1. Hector Kyprianou - 24 -  P’Boro (Out of Contract)
    2. Brendan Weirdu - 24 - Fleetwood (Would cost a fee) could play RCB too

    CAM:

    1. Charlie Webster - 21 - Burton - (Would cost a fee) - 5 goals this season, good potential, has a bit of bite about him, could see him fitting in a Jones team.
    2. Isaac Hutchinson - 25 - Bristol Rovers - (Would cost a fee) - Has impressed with his touch and ball ball carrying ability in and around the box, 4 goals and 2 assists in a very poor side.

    Striker:

    1. Charlie Kelman - QPR (Out of Contract)
    2. Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan - 21 - Reading (Out of contract, 6ft3)
    3. Ricky Jade Jones - P’Boro (Out of Contract)
    4. Lorent Tolaj - Port Vale - (would cost a fee) 14 Goals & 8 Assists
I think the Peterborough boys will be a long stretch unless we get promoted

Agreed. IMO they are the pick of the bunch. Kyprianou in particular is a very good player

Why we shouldn’t rely on FLW - they’ve linked Terell Thomas (relegated to the NL with Carlisle) with Huddersfield.

They're an absolute joke them lot.

They asked me and I think a few others if we would write articles for them unpaid with a view to be paid in the future.

That's one of the worst rumours I've seen them come up with by far.

    How?
  • Brenda Weirdu is the new Jodie Morris... seem to get linked with him about 6 times a window
  • This thread is a tad premature, as Marlene said to Boycie...

Not necessarily - if they genuinely do want a team capable of playing in the championship (either this season or next) whoever we sign has to either be of that quality or at the absolute bare minimum be capable of it.

It will be considerably harder to do if we don't go up but the actual target players shouldn't actually be all that different.

Agreed. Particularly as if we do get promoted our budget will be one of the smallest in the Championship, maybe with only Oxford being smaller. So the players we are targeting I can’t imagine will change much.

It'll be interesting what happens with CBs in the summer.

    Ramsay's performances will attract attention.

We should keep Jones regardless of the league we're in given he signed a new contract in January. I'd expect Gillesphey to stay too.

As has been suggested on here, it wouldn't be surprising to see Alex Mitchell move on. That could create a gap for a new signing or Zach Mitchell, who was impressing at St Johnstone in the SPL until his injury. He signed a new deal earlier this season so is still highly rated at the club.

Laqeretabua also signed a new deal so is another highly rated and moving closer to the first team. I can see him going out on loan at some point as Mitchell and Asiimwe have.

McIntyre will return to Pompey and I can't see us signing him permanently. Another left sided CB will be an obvious gap in the squad to fill.
  • Picking up a central defender on a side that has allowed almost 90 goals might not be a great idea.
