The more experienced pros in Doc and Coventry went AWOL yesterday leaving Karoy too much to do. He kept trying nevertheless.
  • Over 50 appearances for the first team but still playing like a youngster playing in his first few games for the club. He needs to be loaned out to learn his trade and work out what type of  midfielder he wants to be, unfortunately I can’t see that happening as jones loves him too much

Jones also needs to decide what he wants Anderson to be.

Jones has to work out that midfield in the summer. All too similar and zero creativity.
He’s got the workmanlike bit sorted.  Now we need to add a touch of sparkle
Midfielders who can dominate physically AND create are like gold dust though. Unless you have some money to spend, you end up with lightweight flair players, or water carriers.
The point is, you can have two different types of player in midfield, rather than three of the same.
Hopefully we can find someone with a bit of both who alap improves us. I don’t see Jones settling for a flair player who doesn’t work hard, help win second balls etc. It’s a big reason he rates Berry so highly, he presses, won’t pull out of a tackle or aerial challenge but has those moments of quality with a good pass or shot - we could have just done with a little more, double figures for goals and that bit more pace and creativity.

Agree. Berry was a big loss yesterday.

Some of the abuse Anderson gets makes me cringe.  The bloke behind me yesterday was venting and booting chairs each time Anderson made an error.

Anderson is a long way from the finished article but he gives 100% for our club, clearly gets and likes the club and never, ever hides.  I hope.he comes good and think he will, his guts and bravery have probably counted against him so far as they have meant NJ gets him to fill in our if position so often.
Was that the fella in the Charlton shirt right next to the Wrexham fans by the dug outs?

    No, middle of upper tier.

I’d question Coventry being an experienced pro.

It just shows the absolute lack of depth in the squad. I don’t expect us to have 25 star players, that’s not realistic at this level, but the drop off in quality for this squad when we have just one or two injuries/suspensions in the first XI is ridiculous.

More of an experienced pro than Anderson nonetheless

The midfield looks disjointed whenever Karoy starts. I just don't think that he knows yet how to play as part of a midfield, as he just does his own thing. Hopefully, it will come to him with experience but he isn't what we need now in the starting eleven.

I was more disappointed with Doc yesterday, he’s been better with our upturn this year but personally I think he’s been pretty average, I’d suggest Coventry, Small and Berry have driven our performances this year. Fingers crossed he proves me wrong in the next few weeks. I think Anderson will be a good player, he’s inconsistent right now like most young players.

Captain invisible to blame for much of the flack Anderson receives. Anderson has been a calming influence in the past few games when he came on. Barry's absence forced NJs hand yesterday.

Anderson was terrible yesterday and at fault with Ramsey for the second goal .. he offers little help to those around him and Doc and Coventry have double the work to do with him in the 3 ….. two new signings for next season a number 10 to cover Berry , Knibbs of Reading for me and another central midfielder to cover Doc and Coventry

All he had to do was start Gilbert in the Berry role …. There no lack of depth just pick the right player

What Coventry was by far our best player .. Anderson having such a bad game meant Doc and Coventry got outnumbered

    That and starting Mitchell.

Not saying Anderson was good but I’m not sure Gilbert would offer much in a physical game like we saw yesterday. He wouldn’t have had a lot of space and time on the ball.

With two sitters and 5 at the back, I’m convinced you could add another attacking player

He didn't look out of place when he came on. Anderson might be stronger than him, but lost possession endless times because his control wasn't good enough.

Anderson has a great attitude and doesn’t hide .  Other midfielders could take not of the latter .  His technical ability is really really low - that won’t be coachable at his age .

I thought it was damaged limitation after we went 2 down in no time and I'm just pleased our players didn't lose their heads and pick up Red cards.
We were beaten by the better team all over the pitch and the 100% effort in attempting to do the impossible finally caught up with CAFC against a strong team who should be grateful to us for smashing their nearest rival just 5 days before.

Anderson had an excellent game when he replaced Berry after 28 minutes against Wycombe as every single player did with our 2nd best performance after the Huddersfield home match. Karoy would need to find a better 1st touch but he's a young player with a great engine who like every CAFC players got steamrolled in the first 20 minutes against promoted Wrexham who got their crap performances out the way against two struggling teams recently.

Too close too call with the 4 teams going into the play offs whether it's Reading or Orient who join Stockport, Wycombe and Charlton.

We need the obvious Charlton 11 to be fit and Dr Will Abbott and his 'hands on team' need to play a blinder from now to the end of this mentality exhausting season for manager, coaches, medical staff, fan/critics !

Noticed you’ve mentioned Coventry a few times. He did not go AWOL, he was constantly trying to get on the ball and get us playing

Coventry created the joint most chances of any player on the pitch (4), completed the most passes (54), won the joint most tackles (3) and had the second most touches (86). He didn’t go missing, he just didn’t have the support around him

We brought in Gilbert to be an alternative to Berry, Berry was out so why play Karoy ahead of him? When he's good he's great, but unfortunately 80% of the game he looks like a fish out of water

Exactly! Seems a few watches Dobbo on Saturday and then immediately went back to criticising Coventry

This. And unfortunately the good doesn’t happen enough, I’m literally praying that Berry is back because I can’t handle seeing Anderson’s name in the starting lineup for the playoffs.

I think Karoy does a great job from the bench but quite possibly as has been suggested by others, his ideal position is Doc's position. If we cast our minds back to Huddersfield at home, Doc was away due to his wife giving birth and Anderson was terrific.

We also saw later that he can't fill in for TC and central midfield is his position as it stands now. We have to rememeber his young age. Personally I think the sky is the limit for the lad and don't quite understand how a few others can't see it. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so.
