Embarrassing comment and wrong.
He put two excellent crosses over, one for Godden's header and another one from the left when Berry etc couldn't get their shot off. I think there was a third cross as well which no one got on the end of.Of course at times he has two left feet and others tmes magic feet.
I can't add enough that the reason we are doing well in the 2nd half of the season is because of Thierry whether on the left or right and the regular boys at the back, plus the skills of TC who couldn't quite deliver today.
Both TC and Small are the players who go past defenders and at times they will lose the ball as they both get double marked.
Next season Small will be playing higher than league 1; either with or without Charlton.
I was in line with that cross from the west stand A block and you are wrong with the ball that went to Berry.
Did you not notice we kept going down TC's side in the 1st half and TS opportunities were limited. Total opposite to the Lincoln 1st half where without TC everything went down the Right side where Small played as a right winger more than a wing back.
Also superb work to put the short cross onto Godden's head who really should have buried that header as he had lost his marker.Thierry is physical and strong.
He is erratic but just like against Lincoln when he was doubled marked he can still get past players but he will run the ball out on occasions but both Thierry and TC have to be given licence to attack their full backs and when we finally started to use the width of the pitch after 18 odd games of the season we have gone up the table to 4th place and maybe higher ?
Both Edwards and Ramsey have had excellent seasons when fit but both were not as sharp as normal and the partnerships with TC and Small didn't work that well 1st half but when the wide attacking boys switched sides and Edwards went to LCB we looked more dangerous and just got over the line with the 3 card trick from Mannion to the head of Chuks and a lovely striker's finish from Matty.
Sets up the clash with the consistent Wycombe who just haven't fallen away as predicted by many on CL.

People forget he is only 20. He is going to make mistakes but has a lot of talent. If he came through the Academy people on here would be preaching patience or overrating his match scores because of their affinity to the youth setup.14

I'm not sure I've seen such an inconsistent player ever play for Charlton though as sometimes he looks Premier League quality, and other times National League South. It's the PL quality moments which will ensure he's in the Championship next season, as coaches will fancy themselves to reduce the non league moments.1 -

Watching him yesterday…… one unbelievable shimmy past defenders down by the tunnel…. how did he do that? And a few minutes later got himself in a muddle and put the ball out for a goal kick.
i don’t think he knows what’s going to happen next when he strides forwards with the ball….. what is he going to do…… I think it somehow just happens for him?…… so good luck trying to defend against someone so unpredictable and quick with their feet……3 -

There is good and bad and he plays to the extremes, but a lot of his negatives are about experience and decision making. Which will come in time. At one stage yesterday he lost the ball and it seemed his head went down and he failed to chase up the lost ball. Unfortunately for him he was right next to N Jones who went apeshit and was then backed up by L Jones.
IF we get to Wembley it could suit his game with wider spaces.0 -
I did have a chuckle when he had the shot that hit the roof of the Jimmy Seed. 😂1

Bottom line for me is that I think we look a far more dangerous side with him in the team. I really hope he stays because I think Jones can turn him into a really good player but sadly I’m convinced he’ll be tempted elsewhere. FWIW my advice Thierry would be stay where you will get games and improve. Your time will come but that time isn’t quite yet.5

I feel it has always been the case that if we get promoted he will stay if not he will go4

I much prefer it when he goes outside the full back to cross rather than inside to shoot. He needs to look at TCs recent goals and realise you don’t have to smash it to score from that range and can just place it in the corner4 -

Small also has an effect even if he doesn't play well or see much of the ball. Opposition teams know how quick he is and how good he is at beating his man, which means their full back has to be tasked with keeping a close eye on him and staying deep so he doesn't get caught out too high up the pitch. That means both opposition fullbacks are occupied with pacy, explosive players and can't really contribute as much to the opposition's attacks as they otherwise might. That's a big thing in terms of us never getting swamped when defending12
-
I hope we convince him to stay. Edge of the seat player and first to do that for me since Joe Aribo. Can’t think of many left backs who can cause mayhem going down the right flank. Such a versatile player.3

He has all the cards including aces and Jokers !
Thierry Literally operates on the margins and against Lincoln when he played as a right winger as TC didn't play his workload was constant when the penny dropped that Anderson was the wrong replacement for Tyreece.
Playing by the touch line he will take on players; against Lincoln he went past 3 players and if he can find composure he will find the net not Row Z or yesterday emulate Albie Morgan with hitting the Jimmy Seed board. Running the ball off is the joker in Small's pack but his magic moments make up with that as we saw yesterday when he could've had two assists but for poor execution in the middle from his crosses.
Once/IF he can put it all together he will play higher than CAFC unfortunately as he has at 20 the highest ceiling of any of the present squad of players. TC won't be able to stroll past Championship fullbacks like he can at times in this mediocre league. Both TC and Small will benefit from playing regular in Cafc team rather than to be in the 18 higher up the Pyramid.
I'm his number 1 fan and Charlton should send his two left feet control or lack of control to suitors so he stays another season and not the good bits of magic.
Awesome prospect at 20.

Seems to have a very close friendship with Ramsay, all the players look like they love him, the fans do, come on Thierry, you know it makes sense, stay put at The Valley for a while4
-
Probably gets annoyed at the number of people who insist on spelling his buddy Kayne Ramsay's second name wrong. That's the real reason he'll be off at the end of the season.1

He always has an excitable celebration for our goals but was ridiculously pumped up yesterday.Don't think anyone was happier than him for Berry's goal and then the way he celebrated Karoy's goal was wonderful, runs right up to crowd and enthusiastically grabs a fan.3

He could honestly do with another year at Charlton and that doesn't come from a biased position - he is very very good at some things but then inconsistent at others. Another year of constant regular football in League One or Championship would do wonders for his development.4

I think he's been great since signing, only 20 so lots of room for improvement
I have no doubt someone will offer more money but from a footballing side he should stay with us,he's a guaranteed starter and has a good rapport with the fans all the ingredients to kick on further which might not be the case at somewhere like Millwall or Preston0 -
This lad has all the potential in the world and if he keeps focused I’m sure will go to the highest level but I honestly feel that now isn’t that time he needs to develop in an environment where he is free to do so without to much pressure he would be very well served to stay with us (as long as we get promoted) and grow into the player he can be1

With TS missing the last few games, I can't help my glass-half-empty head probably reading far too much into this, but here's my headspace conspirosy theory:
With his contract coming to an end, he's already told NJ he'll be leaving in the summer. NJ naturally wants players out there that will give 100% and prepared to go over the top, (Blackadder style) but fears that Small will hold back, in fear of getting injured. Let's also remember that before his "injury" he was hardly pulling up any trees for the last few matches he played in.
I'm sure I'm just bing a nervous ninny and seeing things that simply are not there, but I can't shake that small crumb that could be right.
Saying that, I still thing a half-hearted TS is better than no TS.0 -
why would he bring him on yesterday then?
I fully expect him to start Thursday14 -

Question: who would sign TS if Charlton don't get promoted?
The background to this is simple: if Charlton are in L1 next season, the best place for him to be playing, week in, week out, is for promotion-chasing Charlton. Which bigger club (bigger than Charlton, that is) would be looking to sign a player that's just failed to get promoted from L1?
I can't help thinking that, if Charlton were to have to face another season in L1, then Charlton is exactly where he should be playing.1
