Gassan Ahadme - Aug 2025 gone on a season long loan to Stevenage

Feels like a relief if anything. If Hylton was really above him that would have been awful. 

Club accounts confirm £1.9m on player purchases for 23/24. Given the profiles and reported figures for the other deals, it's fair to conclude that we did pay a significant upfront fee for Gassan.

Accounts are until the end of June 2024 and Ahadme didn't join until July. He'll be in the next set of accounts most likely

I'm confused... That means we spent 1.9m on just May, Taylor and Gillesphey? They were the only fees from the previous season. Could other deals have been reported in the previous financial year?

I don't fully understand amortisation but I wonder if this is part of it. From what I understand you can spread out the amount you spend on a transfer fee over the length of the contract. So it might be that the £1.9m figure contains a % of deals for players bought in previous seasons. I could be totally wrong there though, I am only going off reading about PL finances in the past

I think the list will also include Edwards, Ramsya and probably a hefty signing fee for Luke Berry as well as a presumably modest one for Mannion. Coventry would also have had a signing on fee so that's 9 players for £1.9m off the top of my head. Plus we will have paid some money for the loans of Bakinson, Fiorini, etc

idle speculation but I’ve done and redone all the perms for 2nd and the playoff finishing places and getting fed up with that now 

20 would be an unusual number of appearances to trigger another payment, but not inconceivable .  I suspect he was a Scott signing off the back of his 2 goals against us last season and Jones has come to the conclusion that he’s dreadful .  

Definitely going to be a trimming of the squad whatever division we are in next year. Ahadme, Watson, Thierry Small, Terry Taylor and Chuks either out of contract or attempt to be moved on. That's a sizeable chunk of the wage bill as Chuks, Ahadme and Small will have been at top end of our wage structure and that may once again play against us with trying to move Ahadme on, he's not fancied above this level and his failure this year will not bring many suitors who are prepared to match his wage.

Yes, he always struck me as a Scott signing. Hopefully that Ipswich hotline has been disconnected.

That's a very good breakdown Grapevine, 16 players no longer at this club and probably only Alfie May In that number, being a success in his short time here. 

Plus Gillesphey, Ramsey, Jones, Small and Coventry who are still with us.

6/23 is still a very poor hit rate even if some of those 17 have also contributed (T Watson, Edun, REG) or in the case of Taylor still have the jury out.

The figure I heard was £830k for Adhadme and that he was very much a Jones signing.  That maybe Scott and Methven disowning a deal they made but it does seem that Jones has had the final say since the summer and he played him a lot early on.

 I doubt that all £830k was upfront.  In any case, as Grapevine points out, any fee would show in the 2024/25 accounts not the FY accounts ending June 2024 where the £1.9m comes from.

Yes, in theory he’s a big man that can win the flick ons and press. In reality he’s not been able to do either, not yet at least. He looked lost in those early games of the season, unable to read the game and remarkably fragile for a big man. Is it a coincidence that once Scott and Methvan left he couldn’t get on the pitch, with even Hylton and Mbick being preferred to him? Hope he scores the winner at Wembley to prove us all wrong.

Oh yeah I’m not saying he can actually do those things. But in terms of profile of player I think it’s quite clear that Ahadme was a Jones signing. You’re never going to have a 100% hit rate but it’s just a shame the one big fail was our most expensive

It's not so much coincidence, more not true.
Ahadme's last start was against Crawley in December and he had not featured much for a couple of months prior to the Crawley game.

Scott left on 14th February and Methven 10th March.
