Good grief, remember reading this story previously, poor guy & family. 3 bloody times. RIP Joe
Just lost a good friend yesterday, it comes to us all but life can be so shitty at times :-(0 -
Dreadful news and has two daughters - RIP0

Well, that is just shit. 36 and having had to fight cancer for a third, ultimately fatal last time, is just awful. To have a decent career and family is testament to his desire to not only live but thrive. My utmost sympathy goes out to his poor family.1

Absolutely gutting news. RIP Joe.0

I recall listening to 'that' final day game, in a convertible car, in a pub car park on Saddleworth moor. The M62 had a smash that afternoon and we were stuck for 2 hours, ending up getting off the motorway onto a farm track, up and over the moors, thinking we had been saved, only to find about 1000 other cars ahead of us as we got over the top of the moor.
It was a beautiful sunny day, that brought an end to his career. The day was set up to be his.
Such sad news for all that new him and for football has lost one of its own. I wonder if there will be armbands worn at today's game. Hoping so!0 -
Dreadful news.

I was at that match when Rochdale stayed up and he scored against us - it was bedlam after the final whistle with that pitch invasion (with the Charlton fans joining in). Nobody begrudged them the win.
Life can be so cruel, but what memories to leave behind.0 -
RIP Joe. Awful news and such a young age.0

Lincsaddick said:recall that in a game I saw at Rochdale, a long while back, Thompson gave Ezra Konsa a VERY torrid time .. Konsa left the field injured and demoralised, physically, of course he was a much younger, smaller man then, he just could not cope
Keep up the fight Joe0 - Sponsored links:

Terrible to hear of such a hard life, and for one so young.
Sleep well, no more suffering.1 -
So brave to beat it twice, let alone make it back to playing professionally. He deserved more time. RIP.0

Life is so unfair:
This is heartbreaking news that Cancer has finally taken Joe and it's so shocking for his young family.
