Went to Dover v Hendon yesterday. Good ground, but not the best pitch.
Hendon heading towards their first ever relegation. Only won one game since November 26th and not a single clean sheet since then. Dulwich have been terrible this season but I can't see Hendon getting to the 40 points that Dulwich currently have.

Every team in the National League South promotion push was winning with 15 6 minutes to go.
Dorking were 1-2 up at Bath. The ball goes out for a throw near the edge of the Bath penalty. Josh Taylor prepares for a long throw. The home manager is moaning about something and the ref takes time to speak to him. Josh waits next to the lino to take the throw as the defence all comes up for it.
Inexplicably, the ref decides the throw-in is actually in the wrong place, and should be 30 yards back towards the half way line. Nobody understands this and there's quite a bit of confusion. It's a baffling mistake from the ref - who ignores his lino who tries to correct him. Wanderers realise this is no longer a long throw opportunity and the defence has to retreat. Josh is not the taker any more, he doesn't take them that far back as he's a centre midfielder, it's a winger's throw now. He goes back down the line and Matt Briggs runs over to take it instead.
Believing it was actually a time wasting tactic, the ref then gives Josh a second yellow card and sends him off. The fallout debacle goes on for 5 minutes. Dorking are then on the defensive for the last 5 minutes. The ref adds a ludicrous 12 minutes of injury time. Bath score in the 101st minute. Dorking's title push is almost over.
The gaffer is so angry I've been up since 6am making a video so he can show everyone how wrong the ref was!
Sounds like standard NLS and Isthmian Prem refs Jimmy. If people thought some of the refs Charlton get in League 1 love to be the centre of attention and make baffling decisions , they've got nothing on the NLS and Isthmian!
Shame incompetence has ruined what was shaping up for a fantastic 5 way fight.

Refs really don't help themselves do they. You'd think if the players were saying it, and the lino was also telling him that he might think to himself 'hang on i might have this wrong'.

A Dartford player also got a ludicrous second yellow for timewasting at a throw in, in the game at Wingate earlier this year. In that case there was a member of the coaching staff (not sure which team) genuinely in the way of his run up.
Some non league refs really seem fancy themselves as being "moral crusaders", stamping out diving and time wasting.
Interesting fact I found out last week. When Steve King was the manager of Welling (took them to play off final against Woking), he took 10% of players wages. The question was asked of his possible return as he has been seen over PVR a few times recently. This was the reason the chairman said “no way”
These figures may not give a true reflection as players may also pay a percentage to agents in order to get a decent contract.

Yeah. The manager went to Hemel, taking three decent players with him. Nearly all the other players left and we've used a total of 61 players so far this season....32 of whom have debuted since that last clean sheet in November. We have no money, so relegation was always on the cards.

Cant Dave Bedford do a charity run for you to raise some cash.
I'm having some success with Isthmian league bets recently - the top three especially are fighting hard for top spot and results are going to form. A nice treble every week is paying out 75% of the time.

Running isn't his thing these days. He's more into drinking ale and selling 50/50 tickets!
So...relegation confirmed yesterday. One win since end of November and no away wins at all tell the story. We had a kid in goal yesterday because the previous keeper got ironed out at Dover last week.
There have been a couple of superb seasons but relegation has been coming for 20 years. We can't compete with current Step 3 wage levels.
Step 3 feels like every year the budgets needed to be competitive go up. It's weird to see clubs that 2-3 years ago that were very competitive at Step 3 now struggling at Step 4.
I wouldn't have had Bognor or Hastings down for the drop from the Isthmian Prem at the start of the season.
We've had an incredible last week in the Combined Counties Prem South.
At the start of the week Redhill were top in the sole promotion spot, three points ahead of Jersey Bulls, who had a game in hand and a better goal difference. They were also a point ahead of Whyteleafe, with the same amount of games played.
Redhill needed Jersey to drop a point in one of their last two games, so they donned their tracksuits and turned up at Abbey Rangers to support the home side. Jersey won, and celebrated in front of the Redhill team.
Until Friday afternoon, when it transpired that Jersey had been accused of fielding an ineligible player earlier in the season. A player who should have served an accumulated booking ban. They are to be docked three points as a result of this.
Thus, Redhill just needed a win to take the title.
Yesterday all three sides played against teams that didn't have anything to play for. Whyteleafe cruised to a win, Jersey took a second half lead and Redhill couldn't buy a goal. So for about an hour, Whyteleafe were top of the table, despite not believing they were even in with a chance of winning the title until, at the very earliest, Saturday morning. At 4.45pm this is what he table looked like:
Redhill were battering the Whyteleafe Guildford City goal and got a breakthrough on 85 minutes, only for the lino to put his flag up and break their hearts. They continued to lay siege but could not get past the home goalkeeper. Until the very last kick of the game. Redhill scored in the 94th minute, and won the league.
At least they think they have - Jersey have appealed the deduction so we have to wait and see who the champions are! So the official table looks like this, until the appeal is over.
Jersey Bulls and Guernsey are both interesting logistical challenges. Guernsey have just moved into a brand new purpose built stadium but looks like they might be relegated from Step 4.
Not certain but I think both clubs either subsidise or pay for travel and hotels for the opposition which, while logical when you think about it, is a mad thing for them to have to do. Still, they want to play in competitive leagues.

Guernsey definitely used to subsidise flights , I assume Jersey Bulls do the same. Fair play for them wanting to play in competitive leagues.
Think Guernsey at one point had some mainland based players that only played away games too.

Isle of Man have a league team as well now, they're in Bury's League this season. Seems they've got an interesting approach to avoiding fixture clashes with any teams that take part in the Isle of Man's own League.

On what basis are they appealing? The player should've either been banned or he shouldn't, there can't be much of a grey area there? Their own social media even admits they "made a mistake".
On a sidenote though getting 107 goals and 95 points and only finishing 3rd is wild.

Chaotic in that division and the play-offs can't start until they sort out the appeal from the Jersey Bulls which the CC Prem south left late to penalize.
A lot of the AFC Whyteleafe players played for Whyteleafe before their demise and have been real Journeymen since and only returned to AFC because the wages on offer were higher that the higher leagues they were playing in because the local businessman paid better than the original owner of Whyteleafe when they were in step 4.
AFC Whyteleafe have made the Vase final which is for step 5 and below.

Interestingly, the gaffer had a call with a high ranking referee, and that ref told him it's an unwritten rule that refs do not give second yellows for time wasting, especially if it's the first yellow for that in the game as a whole. Save it for the next one or the goalkeeper, that's what they all do apparently.

Saw the score when I arrived home from Cambridge & wondered how on earth so much added time had been played !
Hopefully this ridiculous incident will make the players & Marc more determined to win all their remaining games.
Onwards & upwards, DW !
