Gillingham's is absolute cack. On the left there's just a bunch of stripes, like the wallpaper nicked out of a pub. A very dull pub. On the right is what I guess to be Invicta, except they've drawn it like it's My Little Pony having a shit fit. It's genuinely comical. Nothing like a good badge. Blackburn's is dull and insipid which should probably downgrade it as a design, except it could be argued that it matches it's club perfectly. Liverpool's has been extended beyond all recognition. The basic Cormorant is OK, but the extra junk that's been accumulated over the years is just an eyesore. They have therefore got the top three woefully wrong and we are the rightful winners.
The badge Leeds brought back from the '70s and which they are currently using on their yellow away kit is far, far better than their regular home badge.
If you like tidy uncluttered badges you need to look at ours, Wolves and Forest for me. Arsenal are up there but I think I preferred their traditional badge for the history. Lincoln looks terrible until you know where it comes from and that elevates it to brilliant. Liverpool's is too busy now. Maybe Brighton can join these clubs for a simple effective design. As for Bournemouth, what were they thinking with that monstrosity.
It’s also out of date. We changed badge a year or so ago.
Your lot change the badge every couple of years anyway!
Red imps on white, white imps on red, yellow imps, cartoon imps, gargoyle imps, shields, fleur-de-lis, shields with imps ..... not to mention shirt colours. It's like you're the Palace of the north!
What I find interesting about badges is to divide them into categories determined by what is featured:
Animals - sub categories of:
Birds
Which birds are featured on West Brom and Walsall’s badges?
Mammals
How many of these are featured? In the EFL and Premier League, how many lions are there? Which clubs’ badges feature a mammal not found elsewhere?
Fish & shellfish (which of these exist around the world’s football clubs I wonder: crustaceans (such as shrimp, prawns, crab and lobster) and mollusks/bivalves (such as clams, mussels, oysters, scallops, octopus, squid, abalone, snail)?
People and Weapons
Doncaster features both of these.
Mythical creatures
Imps Devils Is Liverpool’s badge really a cormorant or is it a liver bird? I understand dragons on Wrexham’s badge but are they also dragons on Leyton Orient's?!
Historical Sites
Chesterfield York
Trees (are other plants to be found ?)
Forest, Wigan and Southampton.
Items of clothing or manufacturing
Luton’s features a hat but not Stockport’s. What is the animal on their badge?
