It would be great to see Rosey win (currently leading at -6).

Rosey -8 after 16. Incredible round where he has yet to make a mistake of any significance. Needs to have one more birdie in the final two holes to equal the Masters record.

Rory drops a clanger on 15
Been playing within himself & then one clumsy chip could see him tumbling back into the pack.

Staring to unravel for Rory now. All that hard work to get to 4 under & within a few holes  he is struggling to finish under par.

That stat they've just mentioned is incredible - McIlroy has been six shots or more back after Round 1 in each of the last seven Masters.

Rory was playing so well, all that hard work, fully in contention and blows it......again. Just cant ever see him winning The Masters, its a millstone round his neck, theres just too much pressure every year and every year without winning it the pressure grows.

Paul Mcginley made an observation that Rory had to wait a number of minutes before attempting his chip on 15 as Bhatia had to take a drop & then walk all the way round the green to mark his ball as it was then on Rory's line.

That would piss me off as I hate slow play & I'd have been tempted just to play my shot & be damned. But I suppose that's not the done thing in professional golf.

Then on 17 Rory did the Rory thing of being half a club too long & going over the back. Maybe he was pushing it due to the double bogey on 15 & wanted a birdie instead of being 10 foot short & take 2 putts.

Small margins. But it does seem that the person most likely to beat Rory is himself.

    Couldn't agree more.
A stronger, more professional mind, would block out whatever else is going on and just play the shot that needed to be played. Chipping the ball into the water from where he was was always a possibility, so you make sure you don't do it. Having done it you consolidate. To not do that and then post a second double-bogey is unforgivable.

I think that part of the problem is that he needs a stronger person on the bag to bring him that perspective rather than his childhood mate Harry Diamond. McIlroy sacked the man that was prepared to answer him back, JP Fitzgerald ('You're Rory McIlroy, what the fuck are you doing?') and yet he was the very one that McIlroy won four Majors with.

It was interesting hearing the interaction between Rose and his caddie today - "I want you to hit it 161" (pin was 156 and in too dangerous a position to target). And that is exactly what Rose did. Rose is a strong enough character to question that but he didn't in this instance. He trusted his caddie's advice and executed it. Last year's US Open was a classic example where McIlroy did what he said he wanted to do rather than the sensible option and his mate was seemingly nothing more than a "nodding dog" in that conversation. Diamond's words were something like, I am told, "if you think that's best then go for it". But it wasn't.

Diamond might be a good golfer himself but that doesn't make him a good caddie or someone that McIlroy trusts and one who will give him that much needed reality check at vital times. Billy Foster is now available and would be a great, albeit short team option, but, somehow, I can't see McIlroy sacking his best mate. He'll still win more than his fair share of other tournaments but one suspects that when the pressure is on in a Major we know that McIlroy will do what he's always done since he partnered up with Diamond.

Don’t understand the constant obsession with Rory. TV channels just showing him when there are golfers playing better out on the course.

    Anyway, cmon Rosey.

Is Tiger playing this year? They usually show a few of his shots even though he's 20 shots off the leaders.

Tiger isn't playing but there does seem an obsession on certain players regardless of how well they are doing. Last month there was a tournament in which Scheffler, in the final round, was 7 shots off the lead and out of contention. Rather than show the leader, who was in the bunker at the time, they showed Scheffler "live" trying to make a long distant putt. The leader holed his bunker shot in the meantime and the scoreboard and betting markets had already indicated that before they bothered to cover that effort. There are some golfers that they feel obliged to show regardless of the situation of the tournament.

I didnt think that when he finished no-one would go past him. The others were falling over themselves to not be in the final 2 groups.

There’s a reason the cameras are always on Rory - he’s box office.
