Playoff games - ticketing.

I was hoping that someone could shed some light on the processes of getting playoff semi-final tickets please.

I attend a few home games each season, but hardly any away, due to family commitments when in the UK.

Due to work commitments, I was unable to experience the last playoffs firsthand, so I promised myself I would get to the next one, if it happened, and, without a momentous balls up, we look good to cement a spot.

I've set aside the time to be able to return to the UK with my missus to get to both the home and away legs. She's been twice to the valley and seen 2 big wins, so she's a lucky kangaroo foot. ;)

For those of us who cannot attend most games due to location, I guess the likelihood of getting SF tickets would be slim. I believe season ticket holders get first option, and the fans who have attended a certain number of games.

I also believe there is an allocation slot for Vally gold members, which I hold.

Would any of you have an insight on the clubs' ticketing process? I'd be much obliged for any help please.

Cheers.

P.S I'd be very happy if we managed to get 2nd spot, and this post was null and void!

  • Hello mate,

I'd say it depends who we're playing. In your shoes I'd be hoping for Bolton and that to be the first leg. Big allocation and a long trek would both aid your cause. And with the second leg to come at home so slightly less clamour for tickets. A second leg away at Stockport and you're up against it.

I'd love it to be null and void as we are already promoted. Our lads can win these next seven games, that's for sure.

I can't remember how it worked for the home game in 2019. Im guessing for the home leg there might be a short priority period, season ticket holders being given the chance to buy a ticket for the ST seat. With the short turnaround all priority periods will probably need to happen over the course of a couple of days so you'll need to be quick.

I think the home game will sell out like 2019, especially if it's the second leg and we are winning on aggregate already, again like the donny game.

100% would expect The Valley to be close to a sell out. Worst scenario the game is a Saturday or we are at home in the second leg. Excluding Reading, who would fill the Jimmy Seed comfortably, all the other remaining clubs you can put tickets on general sale without needing to put tickets on restricted sale.

Thanks SW. If the process remains the same, It seems Valley gold members do have an advantage with ticketing. Appreciate your help.

I think you’ll need to manage your expectations mate that the only potential away legs you’re likely even as a favour off someone getting 2 tickets would be Bolton, Huddersfield and potentially Reading. Stockport, Wrexham, Wycombe, Orient would be no’s due to low allocation and high demand from regular away travellers with high points

Huddersfield and Bolton, in my opinion, would also both sell out the JS.

I hear you AFKA, I know it would be extremely difficult to get tickets to the away leg. I live in hope mate.

If you’re on it the home leg should be ok, away leg will be really tough. We’ve been selling out away games in the league relatively regularly recently, and I doubt the team we’re playing in the playoffs will be keen to give us more tickets than they need to.

Hopefully you’ll still be back in the U.K. to see us win at Wembley in the final!

Can I be the first to say that whatever the ticketing allocation is for the away leg its going to be unfair & I'm stamping my feet NOW  !

If you sign up and pay for 6 months Valley Gold up front (and therefore eligible for priority purchases), yes.

    That is inherently unfair.

You won’t mind paying mine then 😂

Seriously though why should someone be able to stump up £60 up front just to get themselves ticketing priority? Personally I’d say you had to be a member for a full year before you get such an entitlement.

I agree, but that’s what the rule is. You need £60 of valley gold payments to be eligible for away ticket phases that include valley gold and you can pay £60 months up front.

If we are to get Stockport and are in 4th position the game will be a 7.45pm kick off so an overnight will be required if going by train.

Stockport info from football ground guide:

Away fans are normally housed on one side of the Popular Side Stand, where up to 900 seats can be allocated across two blocks. This stand is covered; however, several supporting pillars could impede your view if there is a large turnout. But really, for most visiting teams, this area is more than adequate. You can access the entrance to this stand by walking behind the Railway End.

For the really big games, visiting supporters can also be allocated to all or part of the Railway End, where the capacity is 1,366.

Blackpool and edging into contention. They will need to win most of their games of course and can't really catch us but I wouldn't write them off for sixth. And they will then be dangerous if that happened.

Looking back, Doncaster was absolutely perfect. A lunchtime Sunday distance impacting enough to taper demand, and 3,700+ in a modern stand with good atmosphere. Perfect

How would that work ? the membership is only valid for 1 year at a time... so the day youd be entitled to tickets your membership would run out 😝.

You can, and indeed you may, but only if you also comment on how we don’t score enough and have a generally miserable tone to your post.

4 people stick £30 in and they all get the extra bump for tickets, much easier than it being complained about every single year !.

As a follow on question to this, how does it work for the Play Off Finals?

Same as normal away game. Restricted sale with season tickets, valley gold, loyalty points. Then general sale after a few days.

We started the day in 5th, with a few minutes to go we were 4th, scoring right at the end of game to move into 3rd on goal difference. Could be the same this season, so not really knowing who we could get should we be in the playoffs.
