The new CWC has had a lot of detractors but it's importance has been bumped up a lot by the news in the last 24 hours.
A broadcaster for the tournament has been confirmed with DAZN signing a $1bn deal with FIFA.
There are reports that clubs like Man City and Chelsea will now be set to earn between £50m and £60m just for taking part, with the winners of the whole tournament set to earn £120m. Crazy money that i think will have a few club owners having a word in their managers ears about taking this tournament a lot more seriously now.

couldn't give a toss if Saudi Arabia host it to be honest. Just as I didn't care it was held in Qatar
More annoyed it is likely to be in January0 -

Mexican team Leon are kicked out of the Club World Cup on Friday after FIFA’s appeals committee upheld a decision that it violated a rule that forbids multi-club ownership.
Leon and fellow Mexican club Pachuca both qualified for this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States but have the same owner, Grupo Pachuca.

Manchester City and Chelsea could earn up to £97m in prize money from this year's Club World Cup.
The overall prize fund, shared between all 32 teams based on different factors, will be £775m, with £407m divided between all participating clubs and £368m awarded on a performance-related basis.
Money awarded for participation is weighted by a ranking based on sporting and commercial criteria, meaning European clubs will earn more for taking part than teams from other continents.
The top-ranked European team by Fifa's metrics will receive £29.6m just for participating - and they would secure the maximum prize available of around £97m for winning all of their group-stage games and then going on to win the tournament.
A group-stage win will net a team £1.5m, with £5.8m for reaching the last 16, £10.2m for reaching the quarter-finals, £16.3m for reaching the semi-finals, and £31m for winning the final.
Well that's one way to make the big clubs take an interest in the tournament, absolutely crazy money.

But the players are playing too many games.3

Seattle Sounders FC
Inter Miami
Grupo Pachuca owns both CFPachuca and Club León.
CF Pachuca and Club León failed to meet the criteria on multi-club ownership defined under article 10 paragraph 1 of the Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.

Also the inclusion of Inter Miami was entirely a marketing decision. Yes, they won the Eastern Conference last year, but LAFC won the Western Conference and didn't get a look in.
There was always a feeling that Don Garber would make up some criteria to include them. Micky Mouse league.5 -

Which ultimately has no baring on who wins the MLS Cup
Bit like Charlton getting promoted for finishing third, and failing to win the League One Play-Offs0 -

I can absolutely guarantee you that if Inter Miami hadn't won the Supporter's Shield and had won the US Open Cup, winning the US Open Cup would have been the deciding factor.2 - Sponsored links:

Ironically despite people moaning that Miami don't deserve their spot at the CWC, they're now 3 games away from winning the CONCACAF champions league which gives you a place. Came from 2-0 down last night to beat LAFC 3-2 on aggregate. Of course a certain Argentinian scored 2 and got 1 assist.1 -
It's fine, the MLS teams usually get battered by the Liga MX teams at this stage of the CONCACAF Champions League.
I think last year a 35 year old Saloman Rondon single handedly tore the Columbus Crew apart in the final despite MLS commentators going on about how the MLS had finally eclipsed Liga MX.0 -

So it will be a Mexico v MLS final.1 -

On top of that it's in America where 'soccer' is way down their list of sporting interests. Daft idea.
Should have held the first season of this revamp in Europe or South America. Or not bothered, obviously.
