I think in the long term it could be a good idea to gradually get more Charlton fans behind the other goal, it would be easy with access.
The acoustics are much better there so hopefully could create a better atmosphere.
I would say for games where less than a thousand away supporters are expected using the West Upper could work out well. Not too difficult to police and supporters coaches park in the same place.
Plus we'd be able to charge them more being along the side.7 -

Makes sense to me, if in The Championship we're playing a well supported team like Sheff Weds and we can't sell the home tickets ourselves then it's a no-brainer to sell the tickets to away fans instead and generate more revenue. Not much different really to what Peterborough are doing for our game this week.
If we're in League One then most away supports should fit into the West Upper and with the Jimmy Seed looking empty most weeks anyway it won't make much difference in reality how empty it might or might not look so I don't think it matters really what division we're in.1 -
I dont think its a good idea having coked up mouthy fans in the upper west, and now they want to put away fans next to them!21

The other thing i'm pleased with is the fact the club are actually considering this, would love for us to reclaim the Jimmy Seed.
Can't remember when it was said but I remember seeing something said a few years ago about how the JS was the 'traditional' away end. Hopefully that line of thinking is no longer at the club.0 -

Season Ticket prices are frozen till 2nd May (after the Wrexham and Wycombe games interestly).
This is around I said that if those games go in our favour (and we have a decent run till then) then I wouldn't be surprised if the prices get wacked up by quite a bit.
If we are fighting for auto in May then I wouldn't be surprised they change tac.0 -
The only access likely for home supporters to the JS Stand is via the Bartram Gate. I can’t see why you’d bother as very few Charlton fans will want to sit there for preference. Using the upper west would facilitate higher prices if they jacked them up in home areas too. The cost saving on small numbers won’t be that significant so there will be more to it.DOUCHER said:

People like to tinker because they can. Warrick was the guy who wanted to close stands when he turned up.11 -

I agree, it wouldn't be somewhere i'd choose to sit and would only dilute the home end atmosphere. I know you could sit / stand anywhere back in the day but it hasn't been a home end in modern times - however, I don't think its a bad idea to have the option of sticking a few hundred away fans on a tuesday night ion a stand that is already open and having potential overspill if a big team has sold out and can take additional seats and if we get in the playoofs against a minnow and we can have the JS as well.Airman Brown said:

Bad idea.
Always like away fans to have an "end".....even if they only bring a few hundred. And playing a match with just 3 sides open always seems to be that "your grounds to big for you" or you are cost cutting.
Obviously wont happen in the Championshio so let's just hope we get promoted this season.9 -
If we're playing a team with about 100 supporters then there will be no atmosphere from their fans wherever they sit.2

When a goal goes in the highlights will show it against an empty stand. That'll look more like shit ground no fans than the UK's most cohesive, sustainable community-driven club competing at elite level.9

I'd like home fans back in the JS, but only with away fans there too, like it used to be.
This seems to me like a cost cutting exercise to just close the stand and not need to use any catering staff or stewards there, rather than an opportunity to get home fans in there.7 -

I can only assume it’s the brain child of one of the seemingly many outgoing employees and it’s their parting gift.Nonsense idea which will do more harm than good.Penny pinching in the extreme.Will assume the fans forum / supporter liaison role will quash it. Or maybe CAST could do something more tangible than a survey ?4

As a general rule, I detest away fans being stuck in the gods, away from the pitch. Your team score, and the players have to celebrate with fans 3 flights of stairs above them.
The PL have tried to restrict this, though the likes of Newcastle have some sort of get out clause.5
