I still can't figure out our version of the Everywhere we go" song. Are the last two lines "Let's show our boys, Let's show our boys" That's what I hear and if it's that, it's a bit naff.
We're the Charlton boys Making all the noise
Makes sense but it sounds nothing like that to my cloth ears.
I'm relieved that after years of missing out the last three lines of the EIEIEIO song the Covered End is now sing "we are Charlton, we are Charlton, Nathan is our King"
I love it when a new song/chant pops up and everyone starts c*nting it off! Sweet jesus, let the kids do their thing and get behind the team. Every song is stolen and always has been. Good to have an atmosphere, surely?
Seemed to be about 15k people joining in with this yesterday 😃 glorious!
Ok….. I’ve only just managed to get TCs sway brain worm out of my head…… had it all the way home in the car and it popped up again this morning…… but it went…… until I just turned on tv at 9 o’clock and City of Song was just starting on Beeb One….. to hear Dean Martin giving it large on ‘Marimba Rhythm’ …… go figure 🤷♂️😆 …….. brain worm is back with a vengeance…….!!
Haven't been able to attend the Valley since the Wrexham game, but what a brilliant atmosphere last Saturday. From where I sit in the Curbs stand centre block back row, the singing of Sway was brilliant. As a teenager in the 60's I remember a great version by Bobby Rydell, obviously Dean Martin and Julio Inglasias have great versions. Lots of singing going on around me, but I only know the original words so was singing them! Can someone show me the words for Tupac's version (best since ''Every Saturday we Follow, Lee Bowyer'' etc)! Obviously I'm here now for the rest of the season! More of the same as the Huddersfield game will be greatly appreciated!

Two of the things to still be proud of as a Charlton fan are:
1. That we were the first club, (weren’t we?), to do an anti-racism campaign with the red, white and black day.
Singling out a South London born player in a song chosen solely due to his colour would only be wholly justifiable if it were a Jamaican song as that is his heritage. If we must give reference to this, why not Bob Marley, for example?
This samba song has been copied from other clubs, which is in itself simply boring. I imagine the first supporters who sang this did so because they had a Brazilian player.
Btw, samba was invented in Brazil by black slaves from Africa.
2. We have a great academy. Why can’t we show our pride in that by simply singing ’he's one of our own’ as Spurs fans did in unison for Harry Kane for so long?
You can all make singled worded criticism of my opinion as long as you like, or reply ’it’s just a laugh’ or suchlike. That shows that you haven’t thought it through.
I would say the same about you, closing down a reasonable discussion about a possible WW3.
Your a nice bloke, and you’ve done a great thing making this site, but your authoritative attitude with regards to thread closure (censorship) only reflects the sad way our society has gone.

You’re right that it was sung first for a Brazilian and it’s just stuck.
Personally I like hearing some variety in the songs we sing, if we just sung “he’s one of our own” then we could be signing about TC, Kanu, Anderson, AMB, Kanu, Enslin, Laq, Z Mitchell, Asiimwe etc etc. That’s going to get very confusing and boring!
Yes the chants are sung around the country by different fans but that’s fine too. Should we not wear red because other teams do? Not sing VFR because of Forest? Football has a shared culture and that’s great!
Wtf how is this racist? It's a song where his name fits the tune!
(As a self-professed jazz twat though, the only thing I'm annoyed by is that the actual lyric is "when marimba rhythms start to play", but mondegreens are rife in terrace chants)

Especially when we're away and playing in yellow, against a team playing in red!
All 3 stands singing it yesterday.
To the tune of California Love*** -
Tyrese Campbell, plays for Charlton,
I'll get my coat
*** 1min 30 -
When the Samba rhythm starts to play
Dance with me, make me sway
Tyreece Campbell running down the wing
Scoring goals, making the Charlton sing
Campbell is English
- Oh, yeah, but he’s black.
- Bit racist, that, isn’t it?
why not try…
