I actually see Wycombe drawing too many games to be a threat for 2nd now

Wrexham are the team to worry about, but I cant see them winning every game between now and the end of the season, naturally we need to beat them at their place, but we just need them to lose one other game now, which could come next Saturday at home to Stockport.

Still a long way to go, 27-pts to play for, with a 6-pt gap... We can do this!!

Agreed - I think our defining game will be against Wrexham - I can see Wycombe losing too many points and Wrexham will drop points other than the three against us!

Simple - 9 cup finals to play and if we win them all we go up.

Beat Wrexham and it's a 2 point gap to them.  One more win that them in the other 8 games.

Easier said than done but there's a chance!

Im ok with us reeling teams in one team at a time - Barnsley then Huddersfield then Stockport done. Wycombe next.

I think us even going into the final day with a sniff would be a monumental achievement.

Peterborough is probably the one game I worry about, get through that remaining a max six points behind still (with Wrexham beating Stockport), and I'll be a lot more confident.

Wycombe still a game in hand

We need Stockport to do us a favour next weekend against Wrexham. The fixture list looks very favourable for Parkinson’s men after that:

Exeter, Cambridge, Burton, Wigan, Bristol Rovers following that - they should be targeting five wins from five there.

But that takes them to 71-pts as well... So not the end of the world - They really need Kone back, as thats us, Birmingham and Wrexham that he's missed, or partly missed, and they've lost all three matches.

I don't think Wrexham are certs to have an easy run, they've already lost to Stevenage, Shrewsbury, Orient, Reading and Barnsley. Perhaps (hope possibly more than expectation) that the considered 'easy games, could trip them up....
We just need to keep winning.

Win-win-win for us next week then.

If Wrexham beat Stockport it increases our top 4 hopes and a home second leg in the play offs.
If Stockport win then we have a chance to cut the gap to 2 points on Wrexham.
If it's a draw we can gain on both.
  • Can't believe Wrexham are likely to get second, their team with Lee and O'Connell is just plane average.

Interesting little tidbit. Wrexham haven't won 3 in a row in all of 2025 in the league. In fact they've only won 3 in a row once and 4 in a row once all season.

Draw would’ve been best for us but Wycombe losing is the next best thing as it negates their game in hand somewhat and compounds the mediocre recent form. Don’t think any of the four sides chasing second are perfect but we certainly have the most momentum. Stockport not to be ruled out of this equation either.

Trouble is, we've not won four in a row since 2020, and probably need to do that

Huddersfield will be the latest team in the way if we beat Peterborough on Saturday

Well not if Wrexham can only string 2 wins together at a time we won't!

League one is a pretty average league though.

We were absolutely awful for half a season and we're now 4th.

I'd much rather face Wycombe than Wrexham if we end up in the playoffs

Agreed. I'd obviously prefer us to get 2nd but if the season finishes as it stands today i wouldn't be too disappointed.

Semi final v Stockport with a home second leg is as good as we could wish for, then ideally get Wycombe at Wembley where we'd easily outnumber their fans.

Wrexham fans equally don't seem confident about their team in front of goal.

Today seemed a bit of a smash and grab, and they lost 2-0 at Reading on Tuesday
  • Huge win for Burton to keep any relegation battle hopes alive in league 1. Looks like Cambridge will be relegated before the time we play them in April.

5-game form table with the sides around us

    Us - 13 points
    Wrexham - 10
    Stockport - 8
    Bolton - 7
    Huddersfield - 6
    Wycombe - 5

Wycombe's poor form has coincided with the loss of Kone.  They are clearly a different proposition with him playing. I wouldn't want them in the playoffs with him back. Would prefer Wrexham personally.

Think it has more to do with the change of manager, they’re drawing an awful lot of games for a team who want to finish 2nd
