It's nice to be able to enjoy something like this without worrying about it raising his profile ahead of a free transfer in the summer. That new contract was such a good bit of work

Yep - by far the silver lining in the January transfer window. Means we’ll get a decent fee when we sell him in the summer!
He wasn't the worst of the bunch, but he had his moments last season where he was certainly part of the problem with our shonky back line. My word, what a colossus he has become this season, though. I'm struggling to think of a more aerially dominant centre back in my 30 years plus watching us. You could send him to Ukraine as part of a missile defence system to head away Russian bombs.
And the biggest difference between this current side and the sides of recent seasons is just how much they want it. You can just see that desire running through us now and that clearance where he collided with the post epitomized that. No way in hell Michael Hector makes that clearance and risks injuring himself to do it. I don't think the thought of pulling out of it even crossed Lloydy's mind. Proper leadership.
Not only is he unreal but he just looks like a different player compared to last season at my age of 32 this is without a doubt the biggest/best turnaround i have ever seen from a player from being left out and looking bad to this level week in week out
Just love to see his aggression and dominance aswell doesnt lose anything!
I always try to access players over the 90+ minutes of matches and don't give 4's or below very often; Charlie Kirk being the exception! Also 9's not too often BUT against Crawley, Lloyd Jones had the captain's armband and he was brilliant in defence culminating in the miraculous coming together with the post after his 11th headed clearance.
Lloyd was superb on the ball as well with his attacking play. 9.5 MOM and one of the great performances by a Charlton player against a plucky Team who threw the kitchen sink at CAFC in the 2nd half.
Jones was phenomenal last night, he has transformed our defence on his return and consistently triggers breaks forward with decently accurate long balls forward - whilst making some unreal tackles too.
It was a weird feeling last night and has been for a few games now where if you're winning at this level late on teams will start lumping the ball into the box looking for a goal. In previous seasons I'd be so stressed, and with good reason. Once we hit 80-odd minutes though I relaxed because I knew Crawley were going to revert to that and I knew Jones or Gillesphey were going to be smashing it back out every time. I was more nervous at 70-odd minutes when they were still trying to play a bit. It's nice knowing exactly what is going to happen to every high ball into our half

Agree with Gary, think Charlotte is a great sports presenter / journo.
Lloyd Jones pre-Leyton Orient interview (February 2025)
You only have to look at our results with and without him to see how utterly fundamental he is to our success.

Not to say he was not performing before, but it shows how stuff like this can really push out another level in performance.
